Shit like this is what people need to see, especially if they play at all at any level. Like myself, I'm a drummer first but I love messing around with guitar riffing, but I can't read music and don't know any scales on the guitar (no actual training, more of a picked it up and started playing type thing). So, point is little tidbits of info like this are very helpful for musicians like me.
I alreayd knew this just from playing for years, but wow this gave it a language I never had before and wow are you on point for what riffs work for deathcore
@@BrendonKPadjasek I know I'm not the original commenter but I'll put my two cents in cos I'd love to see that too! I would say Humanity's Last Breath, Allt and Vildhjarta for me (basically anything thall with Buster involved haha!)
Canadian Heritage Moment - Deathcore Edition. P.S. I enjoy how your tone is a bit phasey. I do the same thing with heavy tones sometimes and it just makes for some extra gnarl.
Yeah the Otto Audio II II II II has a built in function that turns your mono DI into a stereo set amp with some sort of detune. Thanks for watching haha
Thanks my friend! I have a 1 hour real time video on here of how I mix metal. I haven’t gone over how I dial in tones but I’ve already started filming that one so stay tuned!
@@BrendonKPadjasek tbh i had some ideas on how to play deathcore, since i'm those kind of music producers who play a little of each instrument, and i love extreme metal and deathcore. I knew some of the techniques u shared by mere practicing some suicide silence songs (or fragments to be more precise), and the techs i didn't know trully felt like it solidified all that i had learned on my own. Literally all I learned was compressed in this vid, and more, which made it perfect for me! I checked some of ur other vids and they all seem to be really really helpful, since i use ableton all the time and i have a couple of synths, so i might go in a rabbit hole with ur channel. Anyway, thanks again and i'll be waiting for more stuff! ps ur projects sound real neat, love em c:
@kusaedonai thank you so much for checking the other projects out as well! Honestly, Ableton is the best haha. I just got 12 and I’m likely only using 15% of what it’s capable of but those changes are amazing. I also make samples for a plugin company so I’m also one of those producers who are all over the place haha
Wild to see this as such a concise list, had to figure out all of this on our own back in the day song by song over the years. Kids watching this will get a crazy leg up, I can't wait to hear how they take it even further.
Love you videos! Can you make a vid on how to mix higher tuned guitars (like drop c to drop a range not e standard that would be cursed) I would love to hear your mixes
Can't watch this right now. I'm usually a shred kid and always had difficulties writing breakdowns, that aren't just boring basic low E or D or B or A chugs (think mid/late-2000s ...core-Breakdowns) but also not so complex, that it doesn't sound like a breakdown anymore. So, can't wait to check this out in the evening.
@clarenegracey yeah I guess that’s where the chromatic scale comes in lmao. I’m so accustomed to just playing what sounds nice to the ear that I don’t even think about theory most of the time haha

Whatever hits you with the most inspiration, this format is great so I'll watch anything you put out be it nu metal or black metal
@roythescrub461 ohhh no metal could be cool. Thanks for the kind words!
More videos on dissonance, uses of the pitch shifter, and Dexcore-style glitch (Savior). Thanks!

So glad to help! I’m a drummer second so that’s sick that you’re taking up another instrument.
I’ve been a guitarist for 15 years, but I’m also an idiot. So videos like this are helpful for me too!
@jdestrada6281 hahaha we’re all idiots in our own way. Believe me hahah thanks for watching
Thats the way to go brother! Trust the process!
@KLPV79 absolutely
you truly provide the most accessible and helpful metal centric content on this whole ass website, ty guy.
I do my best haha thanks!
Such a high quality tutorial !! Really easy to follow and very partical. Bro sure knows how to deathcore.🤘
Definitely deserves more views and subscribes.
Hahaha thank you so much! Hopefully they’ll come if I keep making videos like this
This vid made me turn on notifications for your channel. Direct to the point, brief and 100% pure gold!
Thanks so much. Pressure’s on to make sure it’s all gold then haha.
Where have u been all my life ? This was SO useful thank you 🙏🏻
Haha sorry I didn’t put this out earlier. Thanks for watching

Thanks for checking it out even though you had a great understanding already!
@BrendanKPadasek you should do Thall. I think it’s only done really well by a few bands.
I definitely should. Great call. Which bands would you say are doing it proper?

I know it's not the point of the video but i always gotta say it, your tones, both on gutar and the drum tones are always insane dude!🔥
Thank you so much. This was definitely a minimalist approach so I’m glad it’s sick haha

i've watched half of the video before noticing that blender cap, didn't know they made them lol
Haha hell yeah. I absolutely love blender and the ethics behind giving such an amazing program for free. Had to support them
are you in double drop d?
If you ignore the 7th string the remaining 6 are in drop G with an E as the 7th string
You can't actually use powerchords at 1:59 as the fifth isn't available for all four notes
My bad you’re totally right on that!
@@BrendonKPadjasek it's ok bro it's not your mistake it's the mistake of all metal bands LOL but the augmented 5th sounds fuckn nice on the major 7th
