Ditto. That part looks so simple and yet I've been practicing it for ages, and while I've gotten pretty close it still trips me up. I think there is something about the feel of that time change that makes it difficult to play with precision. And as far as precision goes there is no one like Geddy Lee.
Paul, thank you for your work on this, and for breaking out the music theory beneath the song itself. I also really appreciate your honesty about how hard it is to get the timing right on this one (it really is!) PS - still waiting on that Mike Mills (REM) video.....
That's the thing with Rush bass covers, damn near impossible to nail them down 100%, Geddy Lee throws in so many little variations. Example the song "Cold Fire," I don't think a single fill repeats and there are TONS of them.
This is awesome, I have tried to learn this song and have found variations of it from the official Rush book, Guitar Tabs and Rocksmith to name a few. It confuses me so much which one Geddy used. Where can I find the tab you are using, please?

Now I don’t feel so bad about feeling so behind learning that solo. Greatly appreciated!

For Bass Habits #48 you should do Felix Pappalardi of Mountian.
This is a legendary song, and you went into the details explaining the elements that make the song legendary .. Thank you Paul! Fantastic!
