Dark Phoenix Star Alexandra Shipp Talks up a Storm and goes Comic Book Shopping

- Comic Book Shopping welcomes Alexandra Shipp, who plays X-Men superhero Storm in Dark Phoenix. Alexandra made her debut as the younger version of Ororo Munroe, originally played by Halle Berry, in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse. Her other credits include Straight Outta Compton, Love Simon, Drumline: A New Beat, Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B, and the upcoming movie Shaft.
Comic Book Shopping, hosted by Collider Heroes’ Coy Jandreau, gives guests the opportunity to tap into their inner comic book fan by spending some time browsing the racks at local comic book shops in Los Angeles. I like how she goes into depth on how she relates to some of the comics they looked at. I must put L.A. Comics on my list of places to go.

I have no problem Alexandra shipp, sh is a beautiful women and he seem knowledgeable about comics and she love rap. They need to use storm better in these films, to bad she want be storm any more because she seem like she really love the character.
This has to be my favorite episode so far. Love her as Storm. No offense to Halle Berry but she was more focused on her "I want more lines because I just won an Oscar "agenda; than focusing on playing Storm properly.
I mean J Law did the same thing. She overshadowed Wolverine's role in the younger class of X-Men. People dislike her role as Mystique so much. Even though Scott and Jean are supposed to be the power couple.
Coy needs to be a adviser to all that gets booked as a comic book character.

By that time Shipp will have likely moved on, and in any case whoever's directing the first X-Men movie might have very different ideas about what they want.
No she isn't perfect storm. Love her but not as storm plus shes too young to even crossover
She's not the Storm we've read about in the comics. She's just a "display of powers with no character."
I hope the MCU casts her again as Storm, but this time does justice to her character.. Wanna see her again with a mohawk confronting Forge.

I always wondered why they give an issue of a run that’s like half way through the series instead of #1
If your talking about the Naomi issue, it's because it's the origin issue and a highly collectible key from the first half of 2019.
It’s not just that which I actually I didn’t notice the Naomi thing but it’s a thing that is a constant in this show that when ever he recommends a new series it’s always like 3-6 issues already into the run for example he gives her the third issue of a six issue mini series in the female furies like if your going to suggest the series maybe give the start of a story and not the middle
I haven't watched this show enough to really notice but that is very odd to do it for a limited series or really any non-key issue.
she seems cool. I love a good comic book geek. but too bad the Xmen are getting rebooted. ANd theres no way her version of storm would get to do anything significant. Hope MCU does storm justice

well duh, there's no need to point out the even more obvious thing.
Except all the males are fully clothed from head to toe and women in comics and video games are almost always depicted with their boobs hanging out. Also, the men are super muscular, which is an indication of power and stature. Women were hardly ever given muscles in comics and were always shown as weirdly disproportional in a way that highlighted their sexual traits (boobs, hips, butt etc) above all else. It’s like if Superman had been drawn with a huge fucking bulge in his pants. It’s not so much about the achievability of a particular body type but about what that body type entails and highlights as dominant features.

If it has a great producer, who finds the right people to make a Saga TV show, it could be such an epic.
Space is expensive though, so they gotta get a decent budget, and a killer Production Designer, to bring the style together. It’s begging to be adapted, almost as badly as Y: The Last Man, Fatale, Sex Criminals, and the never gonna happen in my lifetime Sandman.......
