The R142/as LED lights definitely fits 100% perfect on the Pelham line Just like the R62as on the Pelham 6 line. Still and all we have to deal with the R62as on the Pelham 6 line until the brand new R262s comes for a test train for Cbtcs in the future coming
Their is nothing wrong with the R142/as running on the Pelham line every 4 or 5 months. You know that the Jerome avenue has 17 R142as that was on the Pelham line. The 4 has plenty of R142s then the R142as.

The 6 should take some R142A’s from the 4 and convert some R142’s on the 4 into R142A to stay on the 4 also for late night’s some R62A will help with 4 train between 125 and New Lots and the R142/A run the entire route while R62A’s serve part and those R62A’s will come from the 6 to go on the 4 and then it might be stable and maybe take 1 R188 from the 7 and convert it back to R142A if that works to put on the 4 I think that will be stable
Sorry You cannot convert R142 to R142a, thats not possible, they are not even manufactured by the same company. Secondly you cannot convert R188 back to R142a. But whats the point anyway, they are almost the same thing. Another thing you can't take R188 from the 7 line, it is using CBTC, if R188 is taken away, a replacement for it would need to be transferred IN simultaneously. Why? Because currently R188 is the only IRT car that is equipped with such technology at this time.

Before 1999, There were various R62's on the 6 until by 2000, they gave them to the 3.
