The law of physics dictates. There is an equal and opposite reaction. Mathematics has continually proven that science. 45 will affect the target with more felt energy, than 9mm. As well as, 9mm is easier to use. Therefore, less felt recoil.
You shot them with equal speed & accuracy as far as I can tell, though. Once you can get A-Zone hits with .25-.35s splits, you're firing as fast as you ever should for self-defense or Law Enforcement no matter what the cartridge. That's for up close. (Say, 12 yds in) When the target is further out you (anyone) will need to fire slower than that, no matter what you're firing, to get good hits. For a good shooter the recoil difference between common pistol service cartridges doesn't really matter. (Unless you consider fatigue from firing alot, small hands / fingers / wrists, age or medical issues)
The 9mm had very little recoil and I had to do nothing to land hits. The .45 ACP+P I had to grip to death and really try to land hits. Not equal at all.
Yes, that is me. A person that does not shoot 5,000+ rounds a year of +P hollow points like I do, probably will not get the same results. This .45 ACP+P had literally twice the felt recoil as this 9mm load. I'm just saying while I can try with everything I got to control this .45 ACP+P to equal the accuracy I got with the 9mm (without trying at all), it doesn't make these rounds equal.
@GunSam true. For you, the target recieved more powerful hits in the same amount of time as it took the weaker hits. So out of these two guns the more powerful cartridge is probably the one you should carry. But for another person that may not be true at all. Just saying what you are in a slightly different way.
Got a Compact 1911, and a full size rock island double stack, have no problem with either. Maybe it's your plastic wonder gun? .1911 45 ACP is the best combat semi -auto side arm ever made.

Some challenges are worth the effort.
Yep
That's why I perfer 9mm in my carry rotation easier to stay on target
How much of that is the gun? You have mentioned several times how well you shoot the Smith.
Training with that 45 as much as you do with thar 9mm?
45 has more recoil because it is hitting the target harder than the 9mm, with the 45 follow up shots might not even need to be done 😂

@GunSam but you DID get the same quality hits in what appeared to be the same window of time.

Maybe it's your plastic wonder gun.....what? Is there some sort of issue I don't even know about?
