    I've owned a Blendtec 621-25 refurb for about a year and I love it. I'm sure the Vitamix is a little better, but it's also nearly double in price. The refurbs go on sale 2 or 3 times a year minimum for between $200 and $220, they're an absolute steal for that coin if you use your blender on a regular basis. You get a better warranty then something like a new Ninja or KitchenAid and don't get the crappy plastic and rubber gear and drive, or the nylon and plastic that will guaranteed burn out under heavy use.
    If you can't afford a Vitamix, but can splurge for about $200 on a blender, get a refurbed Blendtec and don't look back.

    I replaced my Blendtec with a Vitamix because the Blendtec can not completely liquefy tough meat. The tough meat fibers wrap around the blade assembly instead of being liquefied by the Vitamix's vastly superior blade design. The Vitamix container is easier to clean, its lid design is far superior, and to top it off, the Vitamix is quiet enough that I don't have to wear hearing protection.

  • @hrhamada1982
    @hrhamada1982 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Blendtec IS a good unit. I FAR prefer my Vitamix 5300 and my 780 (different locations). But not for any of the reasons in the video. Top rack is NOT a big deal everyone makes that claim, but no top tack is usually big enough to put one there. All you have to do with ANY top notch blender, no matter what the brand, is put 3 drops of detergent and run it. How lazy can you be? Plus, I'm not subjecting a precision instrument to the heat of a drying cycle. Do you take your corvette to the 3 dollar carwash at the gas station?
    Blendtec, Vitamix and OTHER Jars will ALL get cloudy. Vitamix isn't any better in that category. No putting it in the dishwasher will NOT help "overcome this".
    Noise. Vitamix used to be just as loud, but the combination of new motor and now housing in "next generation" and "ascent" lines IS quieter than blendtec, but not by much.
    Vitamix DOES have a definite edge in quality, but blendtec IS good.
    Yes, the false claim by blendtec against the vitamix tamper is stupid. The stupid wildside jar is FAR messier to clean. But no, you do not NEED to buy more than the jar. Just use the one that already came with it for free and use a spatula which is just as hard to clean as a vitamix tamper.

    After a few years of use the rubber gasket that holds the blade in place has loosened. New jars are 150 USD. Seems way too expensive. In my opinion Blendtecs Achilles heel is the washer that holds the blade in place. It shouldn’t wear out like that.

Because these high end blender jars are made in the same factory. Also , " Alterna Jars " sells tampers / lids for the Blend Tec if you want a tamper that fits all blend Tec models, just search for their website or youtube videos.

    I bought a classic total for 250 at amazon when they have 100 off, which I returned as I got 50% off on designer 650. I also ordered a vented gripper lid and aftermarket tamper for blendtec. Hoping this will overcome all issues that you mentioned. Vitamix appears to be a better blender based on reviews and videos, but it is too tall for my kitchen and blades are sharp so I don't trust my kids to use it. I gotta say that for smoothies soups and ice creams it blows my ninja out of the order and I found myself consuming more food than I intended.

    Wait, I'm thoroughly confused after watching your video! Should I buy a Blendtec on Amazon at the link you provided or should I not because you just gave me 10 (very well researched and unbiased reasons) to now buy a Blendtec? I will say this. I have had a Blendtec for 8 years and my jar is not the least bit cloudy. If you wash it by hand and not lazily put it in the dishwasher it will not only not prematurely ruin the bearing, it will not get cloudy! It's super simple to wash quickly. Just (promptly after use) fill the jar 1/4 full with water, put a squirt of dishsoap in it and then hold the pulse button for about 5 seconds. All that sticky, hard-to-get-off mess will come off the sides without a spatula. Work smarter, not harder. I'm a pretty lazy person and I've been able to keep my Blendtec alive for 8 yrs. Lastly, I am not sure I understand the logic behind going with refurbished and losing 5 years on the warranty? On their site right now, most refurbished are $100 less, but only come with 1 year warranty. It's a no-brainer to spend $100 more and get 7 more years of warranty. I say this because I had no problems with my blender jar going bad after 7 years 5 months. I called and they gave me a new jar for free and that fixed the problem. If I had not got the 8 yr warranty I would be paying more than $100 just to get a new jar. You see my point in investing $100 now, instead of later? Anyway. Thanks for the confusing tongue-in-cheek marketing video about why Blendtec blenders are garbage and no one should by them. I completely agree. Let's let it be our little secret. ;)🤣

    The only thing I agree with on your opinions is the separate jar issue. Yes if you use the big wildside jar to make nut butters, you have to stop and scrape...I've always said Blendtec needs to have a tamper like Vitamix does. Ninjas are now coming with tampers so wonder why Blendtec is holding out on it. The rest of your reasonings in your video really aren't support enough not to buy a Blendtec. Everything you said holds true for a Vitamix or a Ninja. Also I do have the newer Wildside jar with the silver gasket and third bearing, it is a little quieter but all powerful blenders are loud

      TheBritFix be sure to get the variable speed controls! No sense getting the fancier ones with timers and pre-sets though. How far does one go while blending a minute smoothie? Love my 5200, (same as turboblend vs), and have had it for 8 years. Good as new still.

      I don't recall him saying he couldn't blend grains. He said making flour from grains makes micro dents in the jar. While this might make the jar look cloudy, there is no reason to think the jar wouldn't last. You could purchase a second jar only for grains if pretty is more important to you than function. You have to have additional jars with Vitamix. And I woudn't buy a blender to make ice cream. I have an outstanding Italian ice cream maker that no blender could ever compete with.

      Your ice is the key to the ice cream. Use bagged ice, it works the best. Heavy cream, sugar, what ever fruits or candy for your flavor and fill the jar with ice to the word blendtec. Put on low for a few seconds to test your ice. If the mix is bouncy, add more ice. if it is loud, add more liquid. Start on low 15, sec, kick up to med then high. It will get loud like it is stuck,leave it alone. Once it breaks and after you hear the "pop", hit stop and you have real ice cream. I'll make a video soon. It won't melt. If you use soy milk and agave it will be crap. Use real cream, real sugar and frozen fruits or candy.

      Exactly, I dunno why anyone would use a blender for ice cream other than to maybe mix a no egg base that doesn't need to be heated, but like you say, ice cream maker OR a blend n freeze no churn recipe. Frozen fruit sorbet or sherbet, fine, but that's not ice cream

    For as much money as I spent on my Blendtec, it has not lasted. Sent one in for warranty replacement. The new one didn't last much longer. My Kitchenaid Pro lasted much longer.

    This video is a 1st world problems meme on an overpriced machine you benefit from sheerly for it's motor and aesthetic. You don't even get Pyrex glass or strong glass found in some bongs and glassware that's a fraction of the price.
    Go out and buy 5 glass blenders with a strong motor and have blenders for 10-20 years.

      Some like touch scream they are cleaner than buttons. these are common blenders in starbucks costa and many other businesses. Also independents have blendtec blenders. In the work place you want easy clean/wipe.

    wtf. what is this mickey mouse shit with getting a refurbished model as replacement?? is this even legal?

    • @bfontana1233
      @bfontana1233 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      dunno if it's legal, but it's true, I returned my new unit and got a refurb, but the refurb works better than my brand new one did, plus I still have what's left on the 8 year warranty (at the time it was about a year in or more, now I have about 4 years left on it...

      it just sounds strange because normally you get a brand new unit.
