A very well put together video! Thank you KnifeKrazy, for putting out this knife community, public service information. I hope it saves many, from big headaches down the road. I think part of the reason, this blue thread-locker frenzy got going. Was that so many people saw their screws, with blue on them. But those, were screws that were pre-applied with a type of Loctite, that is dry before assembly. It is in no way, nearly the same as applying and assembling with "wet" Blue Loctite. Many manufactures, buy their screws in bulk, with the Loctite already applied to them, and then oven dried on. Before shipping to the knife companies. Another way I think this spread so far and wide, was that so many people watched TH-cam videos, that showed using the blue. One thing lead to another, and before many knew what was happening. Nearly everyone was doing it this way. Plus, so many people that take knives apart, and use the blue. Are catching and releasing. Or, are performing sharpening & spa services. Never having to again, take those same knives apart, down the road. I could name several of those guys, right now.
That was interesting . I have blue , guess i need purple in my life . Zelric is using low strength Vibratite which is reusable (you can take the knife apart and reassemble it 3 or 4 times) and shock proof . Downside is it has to dry for 30 minutes after it's first applied .
On longer term usage where you don't plan on unscrewing for awhile or too often, I think blue is fine as long as you use a tiny amount, which you are suppose to do anyway. And you can use the 243 which resists oil which is obviously very handy on a knife. just a slight dab on the end of the screw, that way it leaves a very thin/fine coating and it can be broken with force but its not going anywhere on its own. However if you plan to take down your knife pretty often, if you use it heavily and get it really dirty or whatever and have to clean it often...purple sounds like a good idea for a less long term option.
Blake Langley I found out about the purple when looking for threadlocker. I have permeatex brand instead of loctite brand and the back of the package showed a similar chart to the one he had from loctite.
I have used alot of products in my years and ballistol probably being the best. I am now looking at tsubaki which is camellia oil. It's good safe and they used it in Japan for years. You can get it on Amazon, thinking about trying it.
Ballistol rists my tools. When you use those tools in thr rain it turns milky white and wipes right off. I’d never use ballostol for anything other than wood or some leather that needs conditioned. I got on the bandwagon through hickock45. I quickly stoped using it.
I’ve been using loctite for years at work. Didn’t just learn for knife use but also learned info to use at work. Thanks for this video.

You’ve convinced me to use purple and stay away from the blue...which I was just about to use but decided to search first.
Thanks for the info.
I'm happy to see you have the 243 blue oil resistant loctite. Best blue ever!

Thanks for the great info, never realized that much of a difference. Also if C.R. uses it, that's good enough for me!
Thanks for watching.
Still helping people man! I removed the blue loctite from my cart and added the purple. Along with some bondhus Torx set.
Thank You very much for the information. Very helpful indeed.
Great video. Thanks.
Good info Matt I don't use Loctite unless I have a backing out problem and then I will use the purple if it still backs out then I use a dab of blue

Gonna get me some purple.
This was great. I just shake my head watching certain reviewers, 1 in particular, using blue.
Great info. Thanks
Didn't know they had purple, thought blue was the go to for temp locker.

Julian G thanks for that info Julian. I already have some coming.
