Hey buddy, I have a 2001 VL1500 Intruder. I am having a no-spark issue. I checked the ignition fuse and it was good, I checked the ignition coils & replaced them with new ones as well as new plugs which I had gapped to spec when installing, I don't have power going to the Ignition Coils from the ignition control module. All of my switches are good, so I think my issue is internal inside the Ignition Control module. My wife was trying to surprise me by hooking up a new battery for me on my bike while I was out of town working. She had installed it about an hour before I entered the door. She expressed how excited she was to show me what she had done for me and when I found out she installed the battery I wanted to look for myself. She had hooked the battery up wrong and mixed up the polarities when installing the battery. Now this is the issue I am having. It's okay accidents happen and I knew what her intentions were. We are getting fuel and air just not spark. Everything else on the bike works as it should. What do you think? I tested the Ignition Control Module at orange/yellow terminal in the connector & black/white terminal connector and turned on the key to see if the voltage would match what the battery charge was and I got 0 volts.
well, taht will certainly blow the cdi box in a hurry.. That it is kinda sorta what happened to that bike. Only it wasn't hooked up backwards. THe line that runs from the battery to the starter relay on the left side, had fubbed through the insulation at the oil cooler and shorted to ground. Anyway it smoked the box. The stock box is obsolete and had been for a few years now. My only option was the dynatek. I would hve gone dynatek anyway, because the stock box was twice the money. You get differetnt curves to play with and some additional rpm at the rev limiter. Kind of a no brainer. there on what to do. Plus the dynatek has reverse polarity protection built in. Best of luck with it. Just remember her heart was in the right place.
@@dillonwaldron3470 that was quick. If youdo any adjustments on the switches try to be easy on them. I have had people absolutely mangle the switches. Best of luck.
I had to do the same thing because of the same issue, bike starts up and idols great now but I'm having a backfire issue that was never there before any idea what I should do now
I had to richen it up slightly by turning both air fuel screws out slightly. Best way to ensure a proper mixture is doing an idle drop procedure. I have a video on yhe process. It is on a different bike but the process is the same on any carburetor. I would link it but I am on my cell phone and am hopelessly lacking in phone skills. Iirc I think the name was, "setting the perfect idle mixture." Anyway, thanks for watching, appreciate it greatly. Best of luck.
i just installed the dyna 3000 cdi box now my bike does turn on but now its shifting weird and when i accelerate my muffler pops really loud uts the the stock option just not sure why its doing it would you know?
Make sure it's on curve 1 to start with. If it is popping on deceleration you may need to turn the air/fuel screws on the carbs about 1 turn. On a side note there is a fresh air system that can be bypassed by rerouting the hoses. Which basically feed cold air into the exhaust system. I would double check the dip switches . Then maybe try curve 2. I'm guessing you went dyna system because the stock cdi went bad and stock is obsolete and even if it was available cost at least twice as much. With a few tweaks you should be fine. Best of luck.
I have a same one that is not firing, turn over but no fire at all. This append after I install a lithium battery, atop working after 3 minutes and never started again. Is this the part #d3k3-4 dynatek ecu? Thank you so much!!
My bikes identical except for the drag pipes. Fried my Rectifier plug last night, hard wiring it when I get of work . Hopefully just fried plug. Trying to find best place to find parts. Need few random chrome covers / battery cover , fuse box lid. Any suggestions please share. Thanks & great video man. Simple & to point ! Good sht
Using a meter or test light check for power going into the solenoid at the 4 pin connector on the solenoid. If there isn't any check your fuses and switch/switches. Including your clutch switch and side stand switch. Once you are assured that you have power out. You can proceed from there. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. I will gladly help in any way I can
Any time I was trying to remember the wire colors and where they go on that bike, but no luck with the wiring diagram in the back of my head. Take care.
@@russellbarron6775 the wiring is a mess, do you think if i jump the starter it w start the bike? Or do i need power to the coils for spark first? I just want to see if the bike starts
Yeah you can jump it. I need you to check one thing though before you do. Sometimes the cable going from the solenoid to the starter is rubbed through and arcing at the oil cooler. I had more than one like that. Just visually inspect the insulation on the cable.
I want to say it was right at 398usd, but I haven't cechked recently. The suzuki box is obsolete and was over *00 usd at the time I bought that. SO, there wasn't really much of an option.

@ thank you for you’re quick response! I went ahead and ordered one on eBay and got the 2 year warranty

Same one. I think maybe you might have fried the box. Doesn't happen often, but I have heard about it happening before.

I do not have any power, even changing out the starter solenoid, any ideas?
