One battery cable, the supply wire to the circuit breaker which goes under the battery cable at the starter and the line coming in from the starter relay which goes at the very right side bottom of the starter, it clips in. anyway, good luck and hit me up if you need anyone help.

I am waiting to do the primary, as I will have to pull the transmission to check for a bent shift fork. It is skipping slightly in first gear. The bike had been wrecked once, and then my son dropped it to avoid a car. So thinking a bent shift fork. But you got a lot of advice coming up in the video. When you are adjusting the air fuel screw, if you notice that the rpm is slow to return back down to idle, then you need to turn the screw back in slightly to lean it out. A hanging model is a sure sign of it being too rich.

    Great video. Stressed member frames seem to have weird ground issues. A couple extra ground wires on Buells, Sportster S, and Pan AM does wonders. Too many people check voltage in but not their grounds. A ground on my starter got rid of the starter lag. With more electronics on new bikes a poor ground can throw many things off. Too many things plugged into 12v power outlets caused issues on my truck while camping last week. Unplugged some stuff and it was fine.

    • @russellbarron6775
      @russellbarron6775 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Pretty much. HD had problems with the old tympanian regulators overcharging. That's when we started adding an extra ground wire with star washers. Warranty issues went down drastically. It seems as if the ground doesn't exist to some people. They are completely lost when explaining voltage drop or even what a rectifier actually does. Thanks for your input. Appreciate it greatly.

    Been looking at Buell racing exhaust to get more of a Harley sound. With a single stock exhaust it's quiet. Seems like the dual outlets help make the sound. Plus the racing exhaust keeps the actuator in the exhaust. To change length of pipes to increase torque. Personally no cross over on dual exhaust gives a great sound on most engines.

    • @russellbarron6775

    • @russellbarron6775

      t about 5 lbs of pressure with no oil light on,, whcih is perfectly normal for a Harley. Some bikes only have 2psi at idle.

    • @mauser8515
      @mauser8515 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It needs to be idling around 1000rpm. Otherwise you are going to damage the crank. a single pin crank needs some speed so it doesnt beat itself to death. When i hear a bike idling like this i laugh and walk away. This isnt a knuckle head.

      @@russellbarron6775 Yeah you said it was cold outside which makes sense, but I would choke it to crank it, then half choke it to just to keep the rpm around 1000. I warm my Harleys up by riding them and since i live way out in the sticks every ride is 30min minimum. Ive never had milky oil in any of the cases, and no abnormal wear or knocking in my Evos, Big Twin Evos, TC88 and TC96 bikes.

      Yeah, that was a customer's bike,. He wanted it back stock, so he asked for a new module. I told him we could bypass the system. It reminds me oof the Magnetti Marelli system for the fi. Mm makes great products however, the fine folks at HD wanted to design their own system and have MM make it. Mm told them it wasn't going to work very well as HD designed it. That info is from an insider at HD corporate from years ago. SO i m guessing that they did the same thing with Boshch, which also makes great products. HD probably designed it and just used Bosch to actually manufacture it. Go figure. Tahanks for watching.

I was in the Infantry at the time I read the article, which was published by the US Army. Truthfully it made me feel kind of puny, after complaining about how much weight I was carrying in my pack. So, They each got issued 4 cartons of "Lucky Strike" cigarettes, along with rations, ammo, bandages, etc. Evidently, quite a few of them drowned before even making it to the beach. anyway, thanks again and have a great week.

      Noother content really that you need to know about. I would highly suggest that you remove th oil tank and completely flush it out. You will also need to remove the oil filter adapter nut, and the ol pump check valve that sit behind it, which I do have a video on. I owuld also suggest pulling all ol lines and replacing with new 3/8" oil line. There is another video in whicch I partially pulled the engine to repair the mounting bolts for the rea case mounts that the previous owner stripped out. I will get those links to you after I had coffee. It is like 4am here. Anything else I can think of I will link. If you have any questions you can e-mail me with them. Thanks for watching. I do on occasion wander about aimlessly, but try to stick to the task at hand. Meaning you might get a story in the mix along with the task at hand. But the story would be relevant to what is going on.

    I would be curious to see some dyno numbers. Before and after, and on anything but a "screamin eagle" dyno. You would probably be gravely disappointed.

    • @russellbarron6775
      @russellbarron6775 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Maybe. But having done well over 100 of these exact same thing over the past 35 plus years both with a dyno and a flow bench we will see. The first one I ever did. Never saw a dyno and best run of its life was 11.03 in the 1/4 @ 119 mph. But that was 1991 on an 1100 covered to 1200. Definitely not with crappy SE stuff. It will be tuned at the best place for tuning, at the strip. Thanks for the input.

    Check your neck bearings and torque specs. That's 70% of the time the problem and tire pressure is 20%.

    Not bad, but.. 🙂 Providing the Suzuki-supplied numbers for "clean system" bike - per 1998's VL1500 service manual, as well as per its 2005-2009 revision, referring to newer C90(T) models: 1. The battery current leak should be under 1mA. - if the leak is higher than that, it may be due to accessories a/o faulty battery, loose or disconnected wiring, melted connectors or a short on the wire harness 2. Charging output (with OEM stator and R/R) should be between 13.5 and 15.0V DC at 5k RPM with high beams on. - aftermarket products may produce different results - e.g. my setup with MOSFET R/R by Solvart provides constant output of 14.5 - 14.7V DC, regardless of RPMs 3. Generator coil resistance should be between 0.1 and 1.0 Ohms. - cheap Chinese replacements may have higher resistances between leads - I've seen as much as 5 Ohms; however, fine quality products (e.g. from RM Stator or Rick's) are perfectly within the Suzuki-given limit 4. Generator output should be above 80V AC at 5k RPM (with cold engine). - cheap "~30$ / Made In China" replacements may not even reach 60V AC value at all, regardless of RPMs - and they tend to burn out really swiftly (from multiple users' experiences, one season is the so-so safe limit) 5. R/R test (OEM part) should produce these results - using diode test setting: - B/R wire (-) vs stator wire (+) -> between 0.4 and 0.7V - B/R (-) vs B/W (+) -> 0.5-1.2V - stator (-) vs B/W (+) -> 0.4-0.7V - stator (-) vs B/R (+) -> approx. 1.5V - B/W (-) vs stator (+) -> approx. 1.5V - B/W (-) vs B/R (+) -> approx. 1.5V (note, that (-) and (+) refer to probe testers being connected to) - if you have MOSFET R/R, you may skip this test Also, when connecting the wires to the battery, clean both ends well and use a bit of copper paste (or other conductive grease) and tighten those connections. However, do not overtighten these - I managed to distort the battery connector (!!) this way (yeah, it happened during my ad-hoc "WTF-is-wrong" fix attempt on the road). My personal recommendation is to put additional rubber layer in the battery casing (front and bottom), as it greatly softens vibrations from the bike, which tend to losen the bolts & nuts. For all connectors a/o plugs, slightly twist each pin very mildly (by a few degrees), as it will ensure good and lasting connection. Also, when replacing the connectors, always use a/o check for waterproof seals on the back of them - yeah, I have to say it again, but the truth is, that especially all the cheap Chinese ones tend to come without any. LbnL ride hard & ride safe.

      @@russellbarron6775 Understood, though IMHO it's a bit of a pity, as - those more-frequent-than-desired charging system issues for this particular Suzuki bike model and a relatively small tank aside - the bike is really good for touring; it's really big and strong and comfortable enough for two fully packed up to do 500 miles per day. Especially the T model (yeah, T = touring) with the super-large windshield, which makes riding in rain conditions much more pleasant and also protects really well against wind. But I can also relate - as a VL800 / C50 rider of 12+ seasons (I bought my C90T last year), in the days ahead, I'm going to check out a 2013 VL800, only for the purpose of me wanting to have a problems-free "light" bike for daily commuting, local easy rides but also perfectly capable of doing longer ones (e.g. to neighbouring countries, like Austria or Slovenia) - without the necessity to deal with the weight of the C90(T) and stop every 130 miles to fill up.
