I listed a Letterkenney (Netflix/Canada) t-shirt that was taken down for VERO. No penalties, just a takedown. I‘m going to gift the shirt to a friend or relative. The End.
I was selling some Lego one time. There was only 1 other of this set on ebay. The rival seller reported me saying mine wasn't genuine, because the Lego symbol wasn't visible (it was a round tube box). EBay pulled the listing. When I contacted ebay about it and explained, they apologised to me and told me I could relist it. I made sure the Lego symbol was visible after that. Mine sold before the other seller's one did so I was happy about that too.
I have a vero question. I thought Barefoot Dreams was a Vero item. I recently looked on the list and didn’t see it. Can anyone verify? I recently acquired a few items.
It's my contention that they don't have it as a popup warning because of money. But it's in the rules for plausible deniability and feigned protection of certain manufacturers/copyright holders. At the end of the day, eBay loves to make money and they don't care really about VERO to the extent that they would actually put up a warning that you are infringing on a company. If you get caught, fine. If you don't, even better. You made your money, THEY made theirs.
To avoid this happening inadvertently, I highly recommend only listing on the desktop. When you list an item on the iPhone app, Ebay will automatically check character if it seems to apply based on your title . You don’t have to approve this like you do on the desktop for this to happen. I have gone in & unchecked just to have it auto selected again. Even when I just modify a listing using the app, this has been an issue. It never occurred to me that this could prompt a VERO. Thanks Chris!
Is it possible for ebay itself to warn us in the listing with a caution message of a possible a listing be a possible vero warning? Maybe an "are you sure this isn't a vero?" error msg. It would help us to stay out of trouble with ebay.
Speaking of character on the item specifics... I am sick of listing jeans or a blue clothing item and ebay automatically selecting "Blue" (from Blue's Clues?) as the character, or at one point if I was listing boots, it would select "Boots" (from Dora the Explorer) as the character- VERY ANNOYING.
Some companies are so petty. EBay's item specifics are ridiculous sometimes. Most clothes don't have a character yet they want you to put one in anyway...
Its also a broken system as well. I listed using designs from "The Wonderfall Wizard of Oz" but for some reason eBay thinks disney owns a public domain for their "THe Wizard of Oz". No matter what, eBay does not listing to me that OG title is not owned by disney at all and I lose
Have you noticed that when you’re creating a listing sometimes the ‘character’ field will auto fill and when you try to revise it the correction won’t stick? I have a number of vintage 1970s Lilly Dache brand golf polos on my site and regardless wether I made the listing from scratch or ‘sell similiar’ the ‘character’ field auto populates with ‘Lilli’ and won’t allow me to correct it. And Lilly isn’t even related to Lilly Dache
the final jeopardy question one night... I watched it on TV but I copy and pasted this verbatim... ' The clue is as follows: 'Patented in 1955, it did not go over well in the high-end fashion world but the then-new aerospace industry found it very useful. ' The clue refers to the Swiss electrical engineer George de Mestral, who invented hook-and-loop fasteners in the 1950s, which is now known as Velcro. whatever you do Don't use the word Velcro anywhere on ebay unless you have their permissions because trust me you'll get suspended for 3 days lol..
If you own an item, you can resell it. Period. Lot of these brands are just lucky a class action case hasn't been brought against them. Company policy does not supercede the law.
I have Angry Birds Mission Flock Packs listed in my store…but don’t have Angry Birds in the character block…do have it listed in character family and theme…..
I just reviewed the VeRO participation profiles. I did not see Angery Birds brand name listed. So my takeaway is, it is subject to anyone who makes a complaint. Please correct me if this is not correct.
Is Rovio Entertainment on there? Yes, you are correct that any company can VERO their products, the VERO list is for those who made profiles for sellers as a guideline, and most are saying where it can and can't be sold and to not use their photos.
I'd be in trouble if Dora the Explorer became a Vero. Ebay automatically puts in Boots as the character for a pair of kid shoes, and I have tried to save it without a character field and they still insist on refilling it.
I only have two Angry Birds toys for sale, but they are actually licensed Angry Birds toys that are pre-owned. So, I plan to sell those and just not pick up anything of theirs after this.
Well this was good timing for me, I was about to list an Angry Bird PS3 game but after seeing this I will not be listing it. I will just add it to my collection. Thanks for this video
I listed a pair of Audioquest cables checked the vero list and is not on the list. I did get the item pulled down and a warning. I have had very few issue with selling on eBay overall it has been good for me. But the vero program is very unfair for this reason.I think to make it fair it needs to be changed to only vero complaints can be filed if the item is on the list.
OMG the same happened to me! I checked all listings that got removed and contacted ebay to finally found out that it was because of the character choice. Ebay said it was taken down because although it was not in the description or titel it is still a searchable keyword.
Very good information. I have had several items removed from account. Can be aggravating. while similar items continue. I feel eBay should protect sellers more. We don’t pay fees just for stock holders. So many successful sellers should not be banned. Like you!! Yet, is eBay paying for some legal fees in CEO case of harassment against couple? I really love eBay. I just want to protect future of reselling & it’s sellers. & Freedom to resell.
@@monikamir1 It's the absolute worst - especially for those of us actually trying to run a business - it's like they are trying to make us all use the mobile app (which is essentially what the "New Listing Tool" is - sorry i'm not a Gen-Z-er listing one or two things from a dorm room - i'm trying to list 100's of unique items and run a f*cking business! he only problem with ebay is, they warn then suspend, if they have a list of prohibited items sellers could avoid listing them why dont they just delist them
Is there any way to remove vero dings from your account long ago. I got a vero ding when I first started eBay years ago and didn’t know how to handle it to potentially get eBay to remove it.
It is such an odd attribute. I've had many listings auto-fill with the character "Blue" because my title had the color blue in it. How many people are using that attribute in clothes?
Chris, what do you think about clothing sellers who use catalogs cuts for used items? Some of the big youtubers do this including at least one in your patreon group who spoke at eBay open. ( I’m not saying names). According to eBay policies its not allowed. But it doesn’t seem to matter.
So I have a question, I have items in my shop that sells well and they are non copyrighted or trademark phrases. If I add keywords to my "description" section that are non copyrighted or trademark phrases but relates to my item is this keyword spamming ? I read ebay's listing tutorial and they encouraged using description for seo purposes.
I'm confused when you showed the drop down list Angry Birds was not an option and looks like it was typed in. I never knew Angry Bird was a no no, but at ebay open someone said if what you are listing isn't in item specific to not fill it in, just leave blank.
Because some people have permission to sell that brand on the platform. It's an option for them and to allow customers to find the product that's being sold with permission.
I have a question, I currently have an ebay store and it is doing okay but could be better of course. I see all the information you give is about clothes but everything in my store I hand make. I am interested in joining however how would I apply what you teach to my hand made item store?
I don't sell any clothes or shoes or books or video games. I sell all hard goods and none of the popular catagories. I think the group is awesome! Most info applies to anything. And there are plenty of ways to ask your specific question if you don't find an answer. If you are a serious seller, the group is a no brainer.
@@SideGig I notice there three levels to join 5, 35, 100. What is the major difference between the 5 and 35 or better yet which level did you join under and why please?
I watched all of Daily Refinement free content, then joined $5, then upgraded to $35. $35 gives you full access to all calls and the Facebook group. The only thing you don't get is the twice a month $99 call. If you don't make enough to pay the $35 from this group then you really didn't try. You can cancel anytime if you join the monthly plan. If I had it to do over, I would have joined the $35 sooner.
Correct. Ebay senior managers have repeatedly stated "LEAVE BLANK" when specific items are not applicable, yet some sellers continue to do their listings harm by typing 'Not applicable', '' Does not apply', N/A', etc.

It would be nice if Ebay would give a pop up warning of a possible Vero when your listing an item instead of after it's listed.
It's my contention that they don't have it as a popup warning because of money. But it's in the rules for plausible deniability and feigned protection of certain manufacturers/copyright holders. If it is a VERO, why would Ebay have it as an option? If they are authorized, then they should manually key it in.

This makes me more confident about buying brands from only defunct companies. You trade money for solid assets. It is not a rental.

If a brand doesn't want a seller selling their item it also means someone can't buy it, kinda strange.
Use templates. Prefill as much as you can. Better chance of not making mistakes.

Agree eBay needs to stop the listing before it goes live if it is Vero.

That is such an irrelevant item in the listing anyway. Why does it show on everything? It doesn't really apply to many items.
How do you get written permission and where do you find out what's not aloud to sell?

So is it better to leave blank than to add your own specific description too? Only choose the options that they give you on the drop down menu?
