    Finally someone who actually sews and crafts. Love that you showed your real space.

    Putting laces and trims out on display is such a great idea, good tip!

    OMG! I have yet to meet a true crafter or sewist like me who has a clean, organized home! Thank you for making me feel “normal “😂

      I know right? I Was worried at first when she started off with the pattern binders 'cause I thought she wouldn't be as messy as she was letting onto be! But it's oddly comforting to be reminded I'm not the only messy craft person.

      Lol yes pretty much only my patterns are super organized everything else is organized chaos.

    I loved how authentic this video was. Also the old lady in me loved the mention of toilet tissue storage. Real adult ish right there.

      It is a real problem, especially since I made my under the sink storage where the litter box is! I did put the crate up above the toilet and it has been so nice!

    More or less the chaos I deal with in my tiny space lol. I try to keep at least some of it contained, but it's amazing the mess even *one* project creates. Nice to see I'm not the only one.

    Create where it works for you and makes you happy. I think that everyone should create where it makes them happy. For some it is a small corner in an apartment, some have rented spaces and others have bedrooms that have been vacated by grown kids. I sew out of a 5 foot wide closet with a fold-down table, that is in my dining room. My kids often asked my why I don't move my sewing into one of the 4 spare bedrooms. I have considered it many times and I always come back to... I like being in the center of the the house and not closed away from the husband, it makes us both happy. AND it helps to keep my stash under control and things neat and organized because we do have the 4 kids, their 4 partners, and 11 grandkids, over for meals often.

    THANK YOU! Hubby and I live in a mobile home and I sew in the living room. Currently all my fabric is in giant vacuum bags under the sofa and under our bed - but I can't see it, you can see the plastic bags edges peeking out - so it's not aesthetic, and I have to get the vacuum out everytime I get fabric out so I can reshrink the bag. You've given me great ideas!

    • @HaleyMarieVintage
      @HaleyMarieVintage  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I keep debating whether eventually I want to go the vacuum sealed fabric route but I think that is a my next home problem. I'm glad this was useful for you!

    Your pattern organization is really cool and the color coding is very pleasing. I haven’t seen it done exactly like that before but could definitely see the benefits to having things grouped by fabric length! Much quicker to pick a pattern when you only have X amount of a fabric.
    I organize my patterns by garment type and then alphanumerically. I use a companion Pinterest board to keep track of what I own and added the size and fabric requirements in a note on each pin. I have well over 200 so it’s a lot to keep track of haha!

    • @HaleyMarieVintage
      @HaleyMarieVintage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah one day if I have less of a stash I might change it up but right now I buy a length of fabric without a pattern decided. I also have a companion board but I keep mine on Etsy!

    you have a lovely little space set for yourself, if it starts to feel overwhelming for you , simple fix to see stuff easy but keep have everything hidden, make curtains for shelves & cube covers out of a fabric that helps you feel relaxed but also aids in your creativity and will bring a consistency to your living environment.

    I went from having a whole room for my sewing and crafts (before the panini) to a one bedroom apartment, my computer desk and all my fabric and crafts stuff is crammed in the dining room whish is about 8 feet by 9 feet. I love the way you have your patterns organized.

    You’ve mentioned your storing method for buttons before, I really think it’s a very good idea. As of now (only been sewing for real since last year) I don’t have that many and I sort them by color, keeping them in separate tiny plastic bags, which allows me to see how many I have. But I can just see how it will be inadequate if I start thrifting for more. Thank you for the tour. I understand the need for your own sewing space. What used to be my daughter’s bedroom has been relabeled “the sewing room”. You should have seen the look on her face the first time she came back to visit!

      I want a room with a door that will close so I don't have to look at my mess. Haha my mom sort of uses my old room as a closet/getting ready area.

  • @Zombiepixiestitches1981

    Your Pattern organization is GENIUS! I am always looking for new storage I started with my Mom's sewing box and 2 totes of fabric which has grown to 10 totes 🤣 I have a Singer Quantum Stylist too I upgraded a few years ago after my first machine I learned on. I ❤ old colored canning jars for storing small things like my quilt clips I use instead of pins (2 cats that crawl all over my table when I sew). I am looking for weights like yours now though patterns intimidate me but I want to make some of the dresses I've bought patterns your video's are giving me the courage to push past my comfort bubble so far I make my own patterns and wing it from what I have made.

    • @HaleyMarieVintage
      @HaleyMarieVintage  ปีที่แล้ว

      This was my upgrade too, I really like it works perfectly. I think I have my weights in my amazon favorites!

      @@HaleyMarieVintage I went back in your video and found them really excited about getting more sewing stuff =D I inherited my Mom's sewing box when she got me technically my 2nd sewing machine it had bias tape she used when she made me my Wicked Witch costume when I was 5 she lined the inside of the cape with Purple Satin which I forever will wish she had kept. I love your over alls you made I think of Rainbow Brite every time I see them. My Great Grandma sewed everything my Nana wore as a child and young teenager and even when my Mom had to take sewing in high school she always told me she use to take her stuff to Grammy and ask her how to do it properly. I am so glad it is something others are still doing and it is no longer becoming a lost art.

    Omg! The embroidered bib looks sew awesome on camera. Could see a whole different color way on a 40s vintage dress bodice...the kind that that have all the make it do, wartime shortage restrictions that resulted in things figuring out how to have no waste details.
    In fact a number of those first patterns you flipped through would be great. That first American weekly pattern, skip the buttons and echo embroider the seamlines
    Btw love the not so messy mess..its real
    Feeling kind of envious of your notions stash
    I've whittled mine down so far, in the last week, I've had to put two projects on hold until I get the right size/color zippers and a third project on hold because I re engineered it for hooks and eyes because I didn't have a zipper and ended up 4 hooks short.
    Impressive use of space.

    • @HaleyMarieVintage
      @HaleyMarieVintage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I have definitely been thinking about other ways I'll use my embroidery techniques, and yeah it is a bit chaotic but it is mostly organized chaos 😅 And yes I hate having to track down notions in the middle of a project, which is why I've let my stash get so big haha

    I craft put of my bedroom now. The sheer amount of fabric I have is just overtaking the room! the entire space under my bed is fabric & I have a "foot board" of fabric bins now.

    • @HaleyMarieVintage

      Yup I feel like my bin end table is the equivalent of the fabric bin footboard.

    I like how you store the ribbon. I think I will try that. I also see you have the water bottle purses. Do you like them? I have thought about getting one but I am such a vintage purse snob that I just don't know... lol

    • @HaleyMarieVintage
      @HaleyMarieVintage  ปีที่แล้ว

      I like them but I feel like from what I recall you like a big bag and these don't hold much, I need a cupholder more than I need a bag lol.

    • @HaleyMarieVintage
      @HaleyMarieVintage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol I wish landlords cared about that, honestly I am lucky because I'm at least in a city with some protections for rent raises, I have friends in other places who will get their rent raised all the sudden by like $500.

    • @irenevalbuena6417
      @irenevalbuena6417 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HaleyMarieVintage wow :( I’m really sorry to hear about your friends, I do hope it gets better and maybe a law is passed to protect people in renting situation, in Spain, specifically in Barcelona where I live the legal max increase a year cannot be higher than 2%, if it is any higher you are entitled to a dispute and if landlord and tenant don’t come to an agreement it is settled at a 2% increase a year, I think this is more reasonable. I am glad you are doing well and I look forward to your videos ☺️
