Gosh if you were that taken by the North Island, the South Island will blow your mind and render you speechless. So glad we left such an impression on you :) All the best to you and your whanau (family) xx
Thankyou from a Kiwi 🙂 No country is perfect, our cost of living and housing is high, but in every other respect there is a lot to be grateful for. Visit the South Island next time. Absolute magic!
New Zealanders always think cost of living here is high, even before the recent so-called "crisis", but honestly people need a reality check. So many things are so much more expensive in other OECD countries, with NZ falling among the cheapest on so many metrics. Kiwis need to stop exclusively using Australia as their benchmark, and also realise that even AU has ludicrous house prices and other greater expenses with only food being cheaper.
NZ is far cheaper than alot of Kiwi's realise, I'm aware on the housing, but a decent sized 4 bedroom home in NZ is a small 3 bed house where in from! Definitely will be visiting the South Island next!
Just stumbled across your video! Well first of all so pleased you visited New Zealand and sad you only stayed for two weeks! But glad you visited New Zealand! please do visit again soon, I know you will love to spend more time here and as you said, raise your kids here in New Zealand such a great place to do that! Yeah so much stunning landscape and scenery and wonderful people! Ah yeah Whangarei and the Whangarei Falls are pretty cool! So amazing you went up to Paihia, ah dang you should have visited more of the glorious beaches in the Far North, for example Matai Beach and it's next door Waikato Bay, (also the Karikari Peninsula), Taupo Bay, Cable Bay with its stunning and synonymous golden sand, you will have to do this next time! So much to do in Auckland so next time too! Hope you had time to chill at Hamilton Gardens, so many stunning international and themed gardens they have created there! Plus also visit the nearby Raglan and Bridal Veil Falls! Yeah Taupo is great, The Two Mile and Four Mile Bay reserves are stunning! Yes Cathedral Cove in the Coromandel is a must. As is Mt Maunganui a must do trek to summit! Love Mission Bay and yeah Auckland Zoo, the staff there have done an amazing job there! Please tell me that hotel you had at the 5:20 point! Yeah Piha a good beach and you were sort of close to a movie set. At the nearby Bethells Beach, Taylor Swift filmed sections of a music video there; Karekare Beach was where scenes from The Piano was filmed, also Cathedral Cove where Narnia Prince Caspian was filmed too! Glad you conquered your fear walking around the Sky Tower, yes next time you're in New Zealand with the Sky Tower! if you think the North Island is amazing - you will be blown away in the South Island with Queenstown and Milford Sound and many other places where the Lupins flower and that glorious church and of course That Wanaka Tree! Yes, please do make New Zealand you're home; you have so much more exploring here to do so hope you do visit again soon!
I stayed at Waitakere Resort & Spa (The hotel with the great views) And indeed there is so much to do in New Zealand!!! I'd absolutely love to move there, and I will one day for sure 😊 I'm definitely going to go back in 2025, and I plan on going to the South Island, and Wellington. I'm going to save your comment for all these places to visit in the future 😁
@@OliverBulezuik Wow yes I think I know that place but must check it out, does look stunning that resort and spa there! You will love to explore again next year and yeah so many locations to see! Certainly hope you do settle here! Yes you can note those locations I mentioned, so many though!
@@OliverBulezuik you must, it’s a totally different country down there, we were looking at moving there but ended up in Aitutaki in the Cook Islands, paradise some would say, but I reckon it’s a taste of paradise!! Enjoyed your vid too btw
wow that just made me feel a bit lucky to live in Taupo! glad you liked it. it's hard to lose sight of NZ being a bit of a safe haven in this crazy world.
WHAT ! You went to Rotorua without investigating why it smells? Volcanic thermal activity. Pleased to hear you loved NZ. Look forward to future videos as you record your move here permanently
As a kiwi, spent 6 months in the UK, loved the history. But the food was average and even though it was meant to be summer the weather was shyt :). No matter where in the world I went, was alway glad to get back to NZ. We think we have problems but in the big scheme of things they are trivial. Unlike other countries we don't have to stand in line for hours for water, our houses are not bombed, and we generally don't go into poverty for medical reasons.
Thank You for your comments about our beautiful country NZ has been voted the" most beautiful country in the wold" and the "safest country in the world".
FYI the Auckland Museum's official name is the "Auckland War Memorial Museum." If you look on the outside there are names of the battles the Kiwis were involved it. Mostly WW1, but some WW2.
Our food isn't cheaper than England though... surely not.... It was about 10 years ago now, but I do remember going shopping in England and it was dirt cheap compared to NZ!! You just have those stores that bring the prices down, Aldi, Lidl.... we can't compare.
With the prices these days you'll be surprised. Fruit is more expensive I'll give you that, however day to day essentials are alot cheaper. If I moved over, my wages would be triple that what I earn with my business now. It's actually crazy to think how much better off you are in NZ. I also love the health rating on products!! Furthermore, even things such as towels and Fans were a fraction of the price in the Warehouse than they ever are here. Takeaways and exceptionally cheaper in NZ; on a whole everything is was. I purchased a t-shirt at 1/2 of what I'd pay in the UK in H&M Auckland, and we got some toys for my son's which again, were at least half of what we'd pay in England.
And you only saw a small part of the country. Did you know that our seagulls can live to 50 years old? Or something like that I was amazed, now I’m 70 so hopefully I haven’t told any porkies!
@@OliverBulezuikThe south island is stunning. Queenstown in the winter is truly breathtaking. Spend a good 4 weeks to take a bit more time to experience all the unique side quests, do the scenic walks to see rawest beauty. New Zealand is surprisingly diverse in scenery, you'll love it. If it feels like home, why not stay a while?
And if you have been to the Sth Island you haven't seen aotearoa, you've seen the Sth Island. You might find aotearoa somewhere near palestine......both historically fictitious.
I’m from the North Island in Waikato. Lived in Auckland too. Had the best time there. My best friend lives in the South Island. I went to visit him and partner and for first time to the South Island earlier on this year? Yep it’s taken me this long? Lol I absolutely loved it and want to move there! It’s more stunning than the North. Anyone visiting New Zealand definitely needs to go there.
I would actually recommend NZ for raising your child, as he will still be able to lead a life possibly even safer and more free than u yourself had. Kids here walk to school still, and as annoying teens still spend time in malls and shopping areas after school and on weekends. I’m not saying we don’t have pedos, as I believe that’s an international thing but we are consistently considered one of the safest countries in the world and ur son will actually get to experience a freedom as a child very few places can still offer kids. Walking buses are available for the younger kids so not actually alone. And yes our work life balance is a big draw as they grow so quick that if u r not spending time making those memories, u do live to regret it as u get older.❤
One thing I picked up on was kids playing outside. Children littered the streets playing, unlike in England where they're inside away from the elements, sitting on their games consoles. There is so much more to do in NZ that I'd ever experienced in my entire life!
It's not as easy as people think to move here permanently. Unless of course you meet strict immigration requirements. This current govt could be making it a little easier though, so I'd do something about it now if I were you. Strong chance this will be a one term govt!
South Island is where it’s really at for scenery. Visit there and you’ll never want to leave. It’s like a completely different country compared to the North Island.
SI scenery is spectacular but the NI is much more diverse (incl the people), plus there's much more to see and do! Noticed Hobbiton was missed which a 'must go to' for many tourists. 😊
Just remember if you are coming to NZ it is important to dig deep and spend lots and lots of money. The last thing NZ needs is tightarse traveller's boasting about how they got here and there did this and that on a budget. These kind of people treat NZ like a cheap date and are not welcome here
@jemma_19988 What an obnoxious thing to say. From another Kiwi… everyone please ignore her comment, all visitors are welcome here, whether they are big spenders or backpackers. Most of us are friendly, and treat people as people, rather than ATM machines ❤
