Good to see Vanessa expanding her clientele to include polar bears.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
She is in Canada, it was only a short time before they arrived.
One day we're going to see moose on this channel, mark my words
@@RestFromTheStreets The happy hoody may require some modifications.
Lol!
Vanessa calling Baker "Sir" is just pure customer service personality, frankly.
I call my kitten sir all the time ahahhah
I call my assadoodle "Young Man" when he's acting up
😂
I call my Pyr sir so often that he's started responding to it lmao. There's just something about them!
I love how Great Pyrenees look like complete goofballs most of the time, but turn into badass beasts the moment someone they love is threatened. They're among the best guardians/companions you can have.
Indeed ❤
I have met two who drove off full grown black bears, were they hurt? Yes. but they survived and the bear ran
hands down, my favorite breed
You're right. They are perfect companions. I've seen a great pyrenee get mad at other dogs and they can be extremely terrifying if challenged. But yeah, most of the time they're just lovable goofballs who love their families.
Mine only goes on "high alert" when he smells an un-neutered male's balls! 😂
Love how Baker takes about 5 seconds to approve of the brush
and another 5 secs to approve of the cologne
Haha that was the most Great Pyrenees thing ever.
💯 OK you may brush me now. 😂
Another channel has one of these beauties (not even as large!) & he is loving, slow moving (bred to be pretty nocturnal, to watch after a flock) and very cautious of most Anything new
Too Funny
It's no joke that they're an independent breed, but they're super well behaved, too. Just in their own way. For example, instead of commanding them to do something, you basically have to ask them, and they'll get around to doing it... just, you know, in their own sweet time. Mine also loves all little animals; I often find him cuddling with the various bunnies that visit the yard.
If you don't mind me asking, how does that work? Asking your dog to do something and he'll do it in his own time? ☺️
Agreed that they like small animals.
While mine is a Pyrenees Anatolian mix, she loves her wiener brother, and she saves all of the fledgling birds by cradling them in her mouth and bringing them to us, and she’s never hurt a single one of them, she just makes sure brother can’t get to them.
Although she also herds the kiddo, which is funny to me, not so much kiddo.

I have a neighbor (young lady) who has 2 and those babies are extremely well trained. She can (but usually won't) walk them off lease/lead and they'll stay by her side, stop when she stops and aren't bothered by other ppl walking around. Huge kudos to her and whoever helped train them. They're huge, gorgeous and all white in color 😍
We have an Invisible Fence for our Great Pyrenees. I've heard the"pyr" in their name is for "disappear."
@@nadinehackman2358 😆😁👍🏾
"Their independent nature may make them difficult to train." Truer words have never been spoken. My Pyr always seems to look at me with that "what's in it for me?" expression.
But does he/she listen when You say "all the love and pets in the universe"tho? 😅

You did a fabulous job as usual. Quite the before and after.
she could ride that dog like a pony lol.
Samantha H Yes! His coat looked so white and amazing at the end! 👏
One giant leap for a dog, one small fall for a groomer.
@@donjones4719 much better! Very well put.
@@MusMasinow i can't remove that mental image of her riding like a pony 😆😆
We live in France in the Pyrenees and often see these dogs with their flocks, where they are known as patou. Traditionally they defend the sheep against wolves and bears.
That is so badass
yes! And it's highly recommended to NOT try to pet them or approach the hoards of sheeps, they WILL attack without warning ! It's a fascinating breed
They actually give A LOT of warning before actually biting the intruder. But if one pushes them into the attack... Well... Let's put it that way. From what I know from Pys owners, if a xxxl pitbull mastiff mix fighting dog gets loose, bothers the sheep and meets a great Pyrenees - I am mostly worried for pitbull's life and not the Pyr or the sheep. Also. Bite strength almost like that of a kangal.
I used to know a couple Great Pyrenees, they were GINORMOUS teddy bears lol. The male was like 6ft tall standing in his back paws, being only 5ft myself I was a little taken aback, but I was amazed how gentle he really was. He even played with the toddlers in the household
Not saying 6’ standing on hind legs is small but that’s not “ginormous” for a Great Pyrenees. My dad’s 4yo male Great Pyrenees/akbash mix stands closer to 7’ on his hind legs. IF he were to stand on his hind legs next to me, he cud lean over abit and use my head as a headrest. My dad breed that big boy with a neighbours Great Pyrenees/collie mix and in return kept 1 of the female pups. Well at 1.5yo she is already 6’ tall standing on her hind legs. And she looks small next to her father. Both r lovely cuddle bums.
i had a great pyr/golden growing up and she was the best thing in my childhood. i remember once my brother was play wrestling with a neighbor and Grizby gently pushed herself between them bc she thought my brother was actually getting hurt. it was so precious
My GP absolutely adores children ❤
@@teru88- they will do that. They see kids as part of a flock to defend. Brilliant doggos
I have a pyr/lab mix and she is about 5'10 on her hind legs, looks like a massive black lab, and is often confused for a lab/dane mix, but mom was 100% pure white floofball Pyrenees and dad was a Black Lab she got loose and visited down the street one day. 😂
My giant girl is so gentle with little kids and tiny pups. Her best friend is a one-eyed, 6-pound, apple head chihuahua my best friend owns. Kiki could easily fit in Pandora's mouth and be a snack, but instead they play "tug" where Pandora holds the toy while laying on her belly and Kiki tugs viciously on it until Pandora decides to let go. Then Kiki runs around all victorious, Pandora steps on the toy to reclaim it while Kiki rolls as she loses her grip, and they resume positions and play again.
Oh I love when you do Great Pyrenees dogs!!! We have one named Ravioli. He’s sooo sweet. Loves little kids and if strangers are introduced as friends, he will smother them with love. And sometimes drool. But a stranger knocking at the door will get a scary growl and then a big booming bark! Same goes for squirrels, birds, sketchy looking leaves that blow by…He’s a really good guard dog. He HATES baths though. When he gets home he rubs on everything like, “Oh my dog! I’ve got clean on me! Ew ew I gotta get the clean off! 😩”
😂😂😂 He also does a stress poop outside the groomer. 🤣
You gotta wach out for those sketchy leaves. They usually have friends following as backup. It can be a set up.
I think the bath thing is just a livestock guardian dog thing. I have an Anatolian Shepherd who will play in every puddle, pond, lake and ocean but omg break out the hose and shampoo and it becomes a battle between a 190 pound human and a 150 pound dog with a 745 psi bite though I doubt he would ever use it but that thought is always in the back of my mind
omg ravioli is the cutest name lol
@@mfee2079 You aren’t kidding! Anatolians are beautiful creatures.
@@thedirtprincess3293 hahaha!!! Exactly! Ravioli gives a mad side eye to those shady leaves.
One of the first dogs I met when I started delivering mail was a Great Pyrenees. Not that I knew that at the time. I just knew there was an enormous polar bear between me and the mail slot, and he could probably bite my entire arm off if he wanted to. Fortunately, he just wanted pettings. Lots of pettings. An unusual Pyrenees, I'm learning.
😅
That’s how my Pyr is. He thinks strangers are just friends he hasn’t met yet. If we’re out and about and someone doesn’t stop to pet him, his feelings get really hurt. 😂
I discovered our postman had a whole thing going with our last dog when I found them hugging over the back gate. This had been going on for a while before I found out about it. Then I found out about the hot dogs that got delivered to a good boy too
@lemonadesparkle4994 Not something I would have dared to do myself when I was delivering mail, but I did keep treats with me to give doggos if their owners let me. Two dogs in particular would always run to the compartment on the bike where I kept them. ^_^
As the owner of a Great Pyrenees who hates baths, I salute your diligence and dedication to working with these big lovable moops!
It seems like all pyrs hate baths
Years ago my husband's uncle had four of these gentle giants to guard his goats. They fiercely guarded the goats, but were the sweetest dogs. Always in the middle of family gatherings, expecting and getting lots of pets and belly rubs.
I had one. He wasn’t “trainable” per se, but if he thought my idea was better than his, he was cooperative. Smartest dog I’ve ever known.
The GP that lives behind us "guards" some hens. Her owners had to finally build a chicken tractor for the hens, because Nootka would sneak up behind the hens when they were free-range and bark furiously, causing a couple of the hens to lay eggs... which Nootka would then promptly eat. The dog's not stupid, for certain!
what is she then
Hungry for that calcium and all the other goodness eggs provide 😂
There was a Great Pyrenees at a campsite somewhere in Wyoming that patrolled the camp to get rid of rattlesnakes. I’m terrified of snakes so seeing him doing his job was really comforting. Idk how that works, but he’d been doing it a long time
Our pyr alerted us to a rattling "pile of leaves", and wouldnt let me near. My husband killed the rattler-I would've been scared for our dog to try, but I'll bet some Pyrs can do it!
Good thing snakes are terrified of you.
my next door neighbor has 3 of em😂😂😂 lol it’s always a fun times seeing there willful antics.
@@Osprey1994 True, I just wish my brain could use that to override the phobia. We found a dead garter snake in our yard last year, no bigger than a ruler, and I couldn’t move it. I had a full blown panic attack when I tried. If I wasn’t worried my dog would eat it, I probably would have just left it there next to the fence 😓 I had to have someone else move it.
@@jayclearmen411 it's usually more amusing since they're not yours 😂

Named for the Pyrenees mountain range between Spain and France, I believe this dog breed was named for the fact that they are roughly the size of mountains.
I just love how every dog has a different personality and reaction to the grooming process, I also love how u tell abt every one of them
❤🐕
Mine has one groomer that lives like an hour away and he refuses to let anyone else groom him
I have a Great Pyrenees named Wendy. She’s definitely weird. She loves us and her chickens but hates new people. (Little kids she’s okay with) she was kinda traumatized when we first got her. Her breeders, probably once the litter was born, left them alone until we adopted her. They brought her to us by putting her in the trunk of a car. And she was still a baby!
(Also on Monday we’re having to put my cat down. He’s an old man and can barely take care of himself. Im defiantly going to miss him)
So sorry to hear abt ur cat. I bet he had a great life with you and knows he is loved😢
I wish you the best for your grief. I recently lost my dog, and that was one of the hardest moments of my life.
Thanks. I know he’s has a great life with us. And even though he was our first cat, and I love him to pieces, I’m gonna try to hold onto the good memories. Plus I have a pic of him young and healthy on my phone case
God bless you and your cat.
I raise Great Pyrenees ( for over 20 years) and they are a stubborn lot lol. But the joy and loyalty that they bring to families , far outweighs the quirks.
I have one for 4 years and I just love her so much. She gets brushed and combed every 5 days. Baths twice a year. They are the best dogs ever, well and golden retrievers, which I also have. LOL❤
Most of the best, most loyal breeds are stubborn. My Boerboel and Anatolian Shepherd certainly are but I trust them with the lives of those I love the most
@@mfee2079 I have 2 Anatolian shepherd crosses, and they are super mellow; the female is extremely friendly and attention-seeking with any and all strangers, while the male is a bit aloof (including with us) but friendly. They are extremely easy to walk and they don't really poke me around. On the other hand, we had a Cairn terrier who was the stubbornnest dog I've ever had.
My sister's Pyrenees was very stubborn. If they were out for a walk and she decided she had walked enough, she would lay down and not get up until she was ready, no matter what my sister would do! lol.
@@nannie2846 , My Anatolians will walk anywhere anytime and I can take them to the same place every day for a walk and they're fine with that. The Cairn terrier I used to have, however, had to go somewhere different every day or she would jam on the brakes and refuse to walk. If I walked her on some particular trail or park area, I couldn't go back there for at least another 2 days if I wanted her to actually walk with me.
You certainly earn your keep😂
He became an even bigger, fluffier fur baby!!
They are also still working dogs and need a job or become bored. Establishing and patrolling a perimeter are fundamental to the Great Pyr.
I still miss mine after 15 years.
I have a GP named Clifford (the big white dog). He is retired now, but he has been the best service dog I've ever had. Although GPs are supposedly the most difficult to train, for some reason, he and I really understood each other more than my other service dogs. He has many medical alerts and has saved my life more times than I can count. I love him so much, he is very sweet and intelligent. He is sometimes demanding with his Pyrenees Paw, but I don't mind.
Hope big floofer's hip stays okay. As a corgi owner, one always worries.
Agreed. Seeing him step into the shower, I initially thought he was much older. Hope his humans either already know about it or get it checked out, I have a feeling there's sth not quite right with either his hips or knees. :/
My daughter has a Great Pyrenees, named Lily, and their family lives on five and a half acres. Lily protected my 12 year old granddaughter from a bear! She got in between my granddaughter and the bear and then chase the bear up a tree until my granddaughter could run away! Lily is definitely my hero! They never trained her, she just automatically is a great protector!
We had a Pyr for about six months, but as my wife and I are older, we found her to be too much dog. And she loved to take off! "What do you call a Great Pyr off the leash? Gone!"
"He was a generous tipper."!🤣 I can only imagine!! Looked like he enjoyed resting on you while you trimmed his back nails and paws. That was a heavy load. Definitely a big boy, bit also a lover!😍🐾❤🙋♀️🐶

When my dog Daisy was a puppy I realized she had some Border Collie in her when she tried to herd a couple of Great Pyrenees. Watching a 10lb puppy herd a couple of 100+ lb dogs was hilarious. She tries to herd anything white and fluffy to this day.
Used to live by a neighbor that had a great pyranese. He was a great intruder alarm. Gave me a sense of security when I had to be all by myself.
Hey! THOSE were absolutely "Grinch-feet" !!! 😉
Just LUV reading the comments from all these Pyr owners, and you had your work cut out for you with this beautiful boy, Vanessa! He seemed pretty tolerant and mellow for the most part, and gave you such sweet kisses when his grooming was completed. I believe we may have collected, vacuumed, and swept up enough Pyr hair to stuff a king-sized mattress, but our two are treasured and loved household members who never fail to make us smile. Beautiful temperaments and a beautiful breed.
Our last one passed more than 20 years ago, and we *still* find his hair in the basement. I miss that marshmallow.
@@bhronnyhill9354 I'm sorry for the loss of your beautiful Pyr; time helps, but we never forget or stop missing them. I bet you still smile when you find his hair!
LOL at the tipping in the end! Simply lovely dog.
Pretty sure it was a generous tip 😂
OMG, he's still a puppy! And "may make them difficult to train" is being VERY kind. I have a Golden Retriever/Pyr mix, and I'm in love and so happy I did TONS of training when she was young. My favorite breed, thanks for sharing!
I would dramatically die for Baker!! Pyrs are the best dogs in the entire galaxy!!
Baker is a lapdog. He wants to be picked up and snuggled. That's not too much to ask for 😂❤😅❤😂
Lifting up and holding steady those paws was probably great practice for someone who's training to become a farrier~
My coworker has one of these. I call him “cotton ball!” He is so well behaved.
My boy is 1/4 Pyrenees. I think the only part he got is the part where he does what he wants. He’s got a drop of husky and that doesn’t help
The rest is a mix of shepherd dogs, so high energy playful!
Overprotective, hyperactive, 3rd shift security guard, hair making machine!
The floofiest of boys! I love seeing white/cream dogs transformations! 😍
These dogs are incredibly huge and incredibly loving! Our girl is truly a gentle giant!
My son is a 162 GP. Brushing his har and giving him a bath involves pain killers, rest breaks and lots of treats. GPs are insanely smart. He knew you cared about him and he responded accordingly. You are amazing. You did great.🤩😍🥰
Having a Great Pyrenees I loved seeing you groom Baker! And what a transformation! He's a very handsome boy!
It's hilarious watching you groom him when he is twice your size. 😁
Such a nice boy. He does look like something is going on with his hind end. Hope he has a long life.
Wow he’s gorgeous! The ‘after’ photo is incredible - so much whiter and his fur was thick and bushy. What a beautiful dog, and such a fantastic personality ❤
My BFF has a Pyrador - a Pyrenees/Lab mix, and he's crazy! Lol. It also looks like he has about 100 teeth in his mouth. 😂❤️🐾
Baker looks so much better after his groom! But ow...I hope you weren't bruised too badly after that dismount. I've got an online friend who's had Great Pyrs and Bearded Collies all the time I've known her. She lost her last GP, Dutch, several months ago. Her friends on the forum had known Dutch since she got him as a pup. We're all hoping she can get another big floof soon. I've never met any in real life, but Dutch and his big sister, Mia, alway sounded like wonderful dogs.
Idk what I find most enjoyable about your videos: your dry humor or all the tidbits of info on the breeds of dogs you happen to be working on. I'd call it a tie. 😊❤
My girl looks a lot like Baker (especially the drool), lol. Great Pyrenees are my favorite breed. They are big teddy bears until they perceive a threat, and they would give their life to protect their loved ones.
Great Pyrenees dogs are very majestic. I have met two of them in my life. Both were so regal and well-behaved!
'generous tipper'...haha!!
THE definition of gentle giant. Until you threaten his loved ones. Then he just becomes giant and angry.
I have a six month old female Great Pyrenees and she is already over forty pounds. My husband brushes her out and she’s a lazy one😂😂😂. Makes him do all the work 😂
Our friends have two Great Pyrenees. The female is quite fierce and protective of her property. The male is a scaredy-cat. 😂 But they are both amazing dogs with my toddler!
This makes me miss my Lily so much. She was the same size as this pup too.

i had a pyr for a couple of years, loved him dearly. he spoiled me for other breeds of dog, i am looking forward to the next one. i had mine professionally groomed once every 6 weeks, there was no way i could even get his skin wet at home!
There was a Great Pyrenees that lived on a farm along a road near my own home years ago. Every single day, rain, shine, or snow, he would be sitting in a very dignified pose out in the yard patiently waiting for his kids to come home from school. I never met that dog, but I loved him just the same.
‘A generous tipper’😂
I love how this one has absolutely zero concept of personal space just at random intervals during the groom
Trying to get on the table, just places face as close as possible and looks like he just wants a hug
Oh, that's some big beef boy....and he is looking pretty good with hls styling. Something tells me, that he also liked the before 😉 It was just physics that made him almost knock you out as he was trying to get down again. The event was set as soon as Baker leaned his weight forward. It's like the attempt to stop a sliding semi truck. Hope both of you are okay and nobody got seriously hurt.
Am addicted to your videos. It's official I can't help it they bring me so much joy😉
My favourite dog breed is GPD and I was not having a good day until now, so thank you so much, Vanessa!

I love him! My past 3 dogs - were pyr mixes and the best. Just lost my last baby last week after 16 years, time to find another.
Wow. 16 yrs! Lucky to have your baby for so long. My neighbor has a GP. She's so well behaved. I get to love on her ❤
I hope you didn't get hurt, Vanessa! Makes me think of when I used to be a hospital nurse and one of the general rules was don't try to catch a falling patient, unless it's like an 80 lb old lady.
I'm getting my second Great Pyrenees in my life on Friday. I love them so much.
I was thinking maybe some type of short gate attachment would help for the doggy table. Love the videos!
As a teenager, one of my regular farm chores was brushing out and/or washing down our Pyrenees. She only liked the part where I towel dried her.

I was introduced to this breed as a child by the cartoon show "Belle and Sebastian". Beautiful dogs 😊.
Man I thought ours was bit at just under 90 lbs, I didn't know they could get THAT huge!!! Ours is a mix though, some Golden Lab and possibly some Great Dane (really deep chest). But he's got the Pyrenees behavior traits! loves to patrol the back yard! He really dislikes the coyotes in the woods past our backyard fence ;p
I hope you weren't injured. Baker is the ultimate fluff master and is transformation was superb.❤
