Epic video! That Transmitter is shockingly bad but easily upgraded as all the electronics are standalone. Not that bad of a platform and with some new tires could be a very solid truck for someone looking for a 3s basher in this price range. This or the Hyper Go that's the real question ;)
What I'd really like to see is SCY scaling up their trucks to 12th ot 10th scale. I feel like that would be a winning formula. That JJ WL toys truggy was okay but not good enough to impress.
I’m with you Evan! Wish this was a 1/12 SuChiYu . This looks like the same exact platform ( except tires/wheels) as the UJIEtoys which shares much with WLtoys, but not completely. I’ve had great luck with my UJIEtoys which I’ve now made brushless. Cv axles we’re not a direct swap from WLTOYS as the dog bone end from WL were too big for the drive cups. I’d check with jjrc and see if they will Actually provide all the parts for this so your not stuck having to mod everything. Great video, still a cool set up. Been looking at their short course truck for a couple weeks now. Still only have my starter hyper go clone, currently waiting on part but either way these smaller brands for the price you can not beat what you get outta box. Granted yes stuff is going to break. But for what you get just starting the hobby ( even for an adult) the bigger option with lower prices now is really amazing.
i know you prefer the plastic but that wltoys platform is actually REALLY solid, my only problem with this, motor and esc aside it just looks like a downgrade to the WLtoys 124019
That’s good to know. My experience with WL is limited to the 144001 and 144010. I’ve stayed away from them ever since, cuz man those plastic parts are like glass and these look and feel the same. But ya this definitely did better than those 14 models would have done. That’s my problem too. It’s way different than any of jjrc’s other models, it’s not advertised as a buggy (cuz they put truck tires on it I guess), and it’s 100% not original. Even this body with different livery has been done before. I had my hopes high until I studied the pictures closer and then of course once I opened it. There’s rumors of a 1/10 coming from them too. Hopefully it’s different lol

I have the WL toys 1/12 buggy and the JJRC short course. Definitely get what you're saying. I mean that chassis is just kinda set up for speed runs. And I do love my Q130, I even love it with the friction dampers. Something about the way that car bounces around and makes you wrestle with it is so much fun to drive

I guess a little more context would be that those smaller JJRCs are some of my favorite smaller scales. Extremely durable and even with friction shocks, perform very well. Then, from my own experience, the only WL toys models I’ve had were some of my worst RCs lol. That’s some of where my dissatisfaction is coming from. In WLs defense, the models I have are around 2 years so maybe they’re better now, but the most recent new WL model reviews I’ve seen from other channels were also disappointing. If they’re gonna make a copy, there’s just much better platforms they could have used.
That’s why I was surprised. My WL toys models would have exploded 3 times over. Still a straight copy but maybe they used different materials? I know there’s some WL toys copies that do, but these feel exactly the same.

The thing about the Chinese everyone should take note of. One company will build several "name brand cars." For example... Eachine, SG Pinecone, and UDIRC all make the very same car. It's the same way we here in the USA build our cars. GM makes the GMC Yukon, Cadillac Escalade, and the Chevy Tahoe. They all use the same platform and put different goodies and cosmetic appearance packages on it. The other thing is. No American designed product... is "under patent protection" once it's manufactured in China.

I understand no copyright once built in China, but I guess someone built or designed it first, and somehow someone else stole the design? I don’t think WOV is associated with Redcat at all.

To be sure about what is my best guess... Some investigation would be nessacery. Perhaps stock news or business articles.

If it is strong well made plastic, it should hold up. My Outcast 8S has all solid plastic arms with no bend, they surprisingly hold a very well
