    Many thanks for showing the proper methods to move sights. Though long retired from my gunsmith business, I'll still work on friend's weapons. There's a similar vice-like tool in my little shop. It's the only way to go!

    I have the same device that is Wheeler Engineering branded and have used it dozens of times with good results. Good job explaining how these work. Some sights will be tighter and require more force to turn the crank than the Glocks in the video did, but they will go. Its important to get the pusher as low on the side of the sight as you can without hitting the slide or some sights may want to lift (torque upward) in the dovetail - not good.

    What a great tool! When I've put my slide on a vise, I've always been concerned about scratching or warping it. This will prevent that. And it looks pretty precise too.

      Same here. Either that or I would always sweat bullets worrying about slipping with a punch and scratching the slide.

    Excellent tool for gunsmiths. It is better to use a sight pusher so we do not damage the frame. I recently mailed my slides to a gunsmith to remove the rear sights & add an optics plate to my Ruger SR 22 and S&W EZ 380 Performance Center. At this time, Ruger SR22 and S&W EZ 380 are not optics ready. I saved a lot of money with the conversion kits. Galloway Precision and Outer Impact sells these conversion optic plates. The Custom Shop (gunsmith) in Halworth, NY will do the conversions for a small fee by mail.

    Looks very nice. BUT the pusher blocks are too wide to get into the dovetail. Your pushing the top of the sight into the slide. If you get the tooling into the dovetail you get a straight push. I've got a cheep ~$30 pusher but it get down onto the dovetail and does a great job IF you get everything into the fixture right.

    • @ToolsandTargets
      @ToolsandTargets  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can get all the way down to within a hair of the surface of the slide. that's more than enough to get the sight installed straight and correct. I've put on tons with this.

    I have had this same tool (under the GOWQUAS brand name) for about a year. It is identical to the one in this video except that it has a steel pusher screw handle and did not have that extra nut. Same price on Amazon. Only used it a few times but it did do the job. I like that it works without needing specific adapters for most guns. I have had to assist it with a few taps from a hammer and punch on extremely tight rear sights. Overall it has most of the capability of much more expensive tools. I think I might actually prefer this one here because the steel handle on mine is not very comfortable.

    Very cool tool that I wish I had when I replaced the sights on my Canik. But to buy one just to replace the sights on my one pistol would be overkill. Great for someone that works on lots of guns. You should have seen me trying to use a brass punch, cork, cloth, plastic and my tack hammer, trying to hold it all in place, trying different things while gently tapping the sights out and in. Fumbling around. Dropping my tools. 🤦🏼‍♂️ Dang near took me 2 hours. But I got it done. This would have been so much easier!

    Definitely looks like Accucraft engineered a sturdy and thorough tool Tools. I need to resolve to budget my funds for a sight tool, seriously tired of holding my mouth just right

      That's exactly what it is. Absolute garbage. Cracked along one of the top edges within about 5 magazines.

      @@ToolsandTargets Yeah I’ve been through the ringer with those idiots myself they finally change the design I had one that cracked before I even used it along the rail before that they sent me the wrong caliber and I can’t even remember what happened to the one before that total junk

    I use a hammer and a flat head screwdriver. If I break the sight, that means it's a junk sight.
