Being a “daredevil on Hospital Hill” is how this delightful lady describes one of her experiences growing up in mid-twentieth century DeLand. In this interview she recalls many happy, funny, and poignant events she either loved or endured. Words such as hula-hoop, kidnapped, adult movies, Big Rig and many more questionable terms, pop-up throughout her comments. Carmen gives credit to her mom for being a guiding light and strong influence in her life. After attending local schools and Daytona State College, she received her degree from UCF in Elementary Education, became a teacher and enjoyed her career in Osceola and Volusia Counties. Like her mom, Carmen became a guiding light and positive influence on the hundreds of children she taught over her long career. Viewers will feel Carmen’s warm and friendly personality, plus her knowledge of DeLand history throughout this interview, and close it with a smile on their face!
