  • I wanted to take some time to address comments from people wondering about/ignorant about lane splitting. I know it can be a controversial topic, but it really is a time, cost, and safety-efficient(?) method of transportation.

Actually the most informative video about lane splitting in California. This should be a mandatory video for any new riders or people looking into riding. This video REALLY clears up most, if not all the misconceptions about lane splitting. Excellent videos as always!

You’re a very gentle line splitter.

In Arizona we don’t have it but a lot of us still do it periodically. Personally I think we should elect more motorcycle riders to our state houses.

We definitely should, I believe that's how the filtering law was introduced in Utah. AZ heat is intense, I wouldn't blame anyone for splitting there. Sitting in the southwestern sun on top of a hot engine is not easy!

thank you for shedding light on the subject, there is a lot of ignorance floating around, and people should know. I just hate when people get jealous in traffic and cut you off at a standstill gridlock, or police and governors/local counties that haven't wised up and made this legal in other states.

Sound analysis. In Scotland it does appear to pay a dividend if you acknowledge car drivers' 'consent' to your lane splitting in heavily congested situations.

I always try to wave, although I'll say as a driver no bike has ever waved to me for making way. Shame!

I live in WA state. We have a bill in legislation (fingers crossed HB1106) and it would legalize a safe practice of lane splitting, and we need it. Seattle has some of the worst traffic in the nation. Most people are ignorant to the facts, draw their own moral lines in the sand on what they believe to be true. Then lecture you on "I saw a guy doing that at 80 MPH he has a death wish!!!" But when you slow them down and tell them the facts and the studies "most" people are persuaded to our side on the lane splitting topic. Thank you for posting a sensible, reasonable, and fact based lane splitting video for all to see.

I lane filter here in central Texas! Most law enforcement understand that HD motos get really hot in the summer and need to be at a constant go! That or burn your calves! Any who always ride safe and respectful! Peace y'all! ✌️

While watching your video, I was noting the prevalence of the traffic snarls were car drivers who were owning the passing lanes, yet still driving "Miss Daisy", leaving large gaps in front of them. Some states have passed law's making driving continuously in the passing lanes a actionable driving offense, as its reserved for emergency and safety vehicle's, or for passing alone. The Commonwealth of Kentucky has that code for Highway driving. Sure you catch flak for any comment, as I surely will in suggesting that anyone not passing should keep right, or bear to center while on their commute. I don't filter or split since I live in neither California nor Utah, and just must run the iron gauntlet, when it comes to riding. Stay safe and be well.

    Laws in Germany
    ---------------------------------
Hey Mr attorney, lane splitting AND filtering is strictly forbidden in Germany! its called "unzulässiger überholvorgang" (illegal overtaking). the punishment starts at 100€ and gets worse depending on the situation. it goes up to 250€ and 2 points (when you have 8 points your drivers license gets revoked and you are not allowed to drive in germany anymore). for example if you are filtering while a traffic jam on the Autobahn (on highways) "earns" you 2 points. if you like to base your driving style on statistics you should adopt the german model. in germany way less accidents and fatal accidents happen than in the US....despite having no speed limit on the Autobahn.
