- May Bank Holiday Weekend and we’re off to the Yorkshire/Derbyshire borders and the Peak District on a Camping and Caravanning Club D.A in Bamford, £12 a night on a temporary site, perfect for a cheap weekend away!
We have a couple of walks and get the bikes out for the first time in 2024, a very busy weekend making the most of the great weather!
Hi We're Rick, Heather & our dog Poppy and we travel the U.K in our S&L Apollo camper van “Athena”
We film the places we visit as our own diary, these videos are meant as a little memento for us but we're happy to share them with you if you want to watch.
We're just an ordinary couple in our 50's filming our adventures with basic equipment so don't expect loads of flash camera action and super editing with great music.
We also film videos of work we have done on our van as well as van reviews for our reference of the next van we might buy. Occasionally there are hints & tips videos too. We do basic site and area reviews including if they’re dog friendly but they’re a guide only based on our opinions which may or may not help you make an informed decision on if you’d like the place.
We do a mix of off grid camping, pub stopovers plus real campsites too, hopefully something for everyone to enjoy!

Loved this the views and countryside amazing. Also loved the bike footage it was fab and Poppy seems to love it 😍
Poppy does love it, the bikes allow us to see a lot more than walking all the time too.

We live just up the road from this area so know it well, so enjoyed playing spot the track 😀
Keep going with the bike episodes, they are very useful for those of us who use them as well, as it shows us options we might not have known about, or better still give us ideas of where to go 👍
Ahh thanks 🙏 we will continue doing what we do, as I like to say, it really is a diary of our trips to share, sometimes it’s fun sometimes it’s just a “boring” day but for us it’s just point and shoot, say what we see, we’ll never be a huge channel but we enjoy it.
Damn, ( pun intended ) now we need to go there too, didn’t realise there was more than one reservior. Poppy can is brill😂

The plug holes I always find creepy, not something you would want to get sucked into! What a contrast in weather between the days. The reservoir looked very nice! We drove past it when we were in the Peak District (or Derbyshire Dales whatever it was).
PS: With being away we were catching up and when searching for your channel, all you get is the power bank play list of popular videos, it’s about 4 clicks to get to the most recent video for ref - not sure if other folks are having the same issue if catching up and if that’s having an impact for you on views of your latest video… spotted it a couple of times so thought worth mentioning, if you were a-n-other we would have given up trying to find it… You maybe have done it that way for a reason but just for info…. I’ve had a look and no idea, if I Google “Rick and Heather” I find us easily… strange. I know what you mean about the holes though I had a fear of falling just filming them!
Lovely scenery, looked like there were plenty of bluebells in the woods. Was it one of those dams used by the Dambusters to practice?
The bluebells were lovely yes! Indeed Derwent Water (the centre reservoir) was one of the practice dams used.
Hard to imagine how empty that reservoir was two years ago. I think it's high time you did an electric bike review (Hinting to those companies out there...) . We might get to one of those DA meets at some point, that looked a nice level site.
Honestly as much as I don’t do TH-cam for free stuff I can’t believe some of the channels that get bikes don’t actually ride them as often as us…. We love the DA’s bargain camping!
