There are actually three types of edges, hard edges, soft edges, and lost edges. Marco Bucci has done some great videos explaining how to use them to maximize your painting. You have great tips here, because even as an artist that’s been doing this for over 20 years, I still catch myself slipping and forgetting some of the things you mentioned.

how did you change hue and saturation as you paint without an adjustment layer?
If you are talking about thumbnail then i did it by going to Image>adjustment>hue and saturation
