  • Welcome back to another episode of Total Recoil with our Gun Expert Paul Meixner and our host Israel Wright reacting to the various guns of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. In this video, Paul and Israel go over several of the games' most used/iconic weapons whilst analyzing each and identifying stand-out characteristics, and comparing them to real-life firearms. Also, bonus, learn how a silencer works on a gun, I was very surprised. We hope you enjoy today's video :)
    The first-person shooter video game Black Ops 4 is part of the Call of Duty series. The first entry in the Call of Duty series without a traditional single-player campaign, Black Ops 4 focuses only on multiplayer, Zombies, and a new battle royale mode called Blackout.

    Paul's actually right on the money! The Russians developed multiple firearms that are designed to be used underwater, though I believe he's talking about the APS. It was designed for anti-frogmen tactics during the era of the USSR

    Triangle bullets were kind of a failed attempt of making a gun with more ammo capacity, but yeah... failed attempt still xD
    Edit: I love they mentioned the Spanish CETME, it really did make a reference for H&K, it wasn't the best gun in the world and most of the soldiers hated it for it's weight on early stages but still it was a good gun. Loving they mentioned it.

    • @ArtjomKoslow
      @ArtjomKoslow 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      HK was formed by former Engineers of Mauser. So HK is basically the Heir of Mauser. CETME was a spanish Project but done by german Engineers from Simson and Mauser. They used the late-war Prototype StG45 as Groundpoint which resulted in the CETME which later resulted in the HK G3 one of the most produced Guns worldwide. All three Models can track their Roots back to the StG44, the first real Assault Rifle.

      They're called Trounds! They actually do allow you to carry more ammo than traditional ammunition as they're more space-efficient. They are hard to make precise enough to get them to feed consistently so the concept was quickly abandoned.

    • @Yeti-db8qd
      @Yeti-db8qd 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Actually those triangle bullets are trounds and we're supposed to be used in high fire rate machine guns with a open revolving cylinder system
      To test this the dardick revolver pistol was created it was using cylinder and magazine at the same time
      He tested it to make more space efficient ammo with the highest fire rate possible with one barrel
      Pretty interesting stuff

    3:05 the hk slap is actually a part of the manual of arms. It's the way hk wants you to close the bolt to ensure gun goes into battery.

    • @BlackBladeGroM
      @BlackBladeGroM ปีที่แล้ว

      No it isn't and you'd get shit for it in the HK-equipped militaries because it degrades the bolt catch notch on the receiver. And that's not a separate part, it's cut into the receiver and when it wears down and can't hold the handle anymore, the gun becomes unusable and you need to replace the receiver or at least weld it back up. It's still a cool-looking move and is faster than properly letting down the handle (not by much, but still), and if you're a high-speed low-drag operator (like most of HKs customers in US) you'll burn the barrel out faster than you wear the notch down anyway.

    • @random.3665
      @random.3665 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@BlackBladeGroM It IS part of the official manual of arms as posted by HK.
      Most militarys that use HK weapons however use their own manual of arms, and THEY are the ones who tell you not to do it. Makes sense, because they will try to use the same guns for a lot of soldiers in succsession (The degrading of the catch notch is minimal when we are talking about a gun for one single person, but if generations of soldiers are doing it, you will of course get some wear and tear)

    Theoretically, a triangular cartridge can pack tighter than a traditional cartridge in a magazine or layered belts, but, well, they don't have the belt set up to take advantage of that. And it also isn't a huge difference in the first place.

    So when the little pointly stick on the MX9 is pointed out at 4:00, turns out this is a CQB Mute Stick, described by Will Huang, who describes himself on Artstation as a Principle Artist. It's used for when you're close to the enemy. Put the weapon close to your body while your rifle hand moves to the Stick, then unlock it from its place and start jabbing away.
    Will Huang also explains the Outlaw as its cylinder being a brass holder where the used rounds go to after being used.

    • @tallonmetroids271

      @@eyywannn8601 they are reliable but introducing a bolt into the mix and yaving open crevices and gaps allow for things to get in and gunk em up. While they don't jam, they still have a very low capacity for what is needed in a modern combat zone. That's one of the main reasons we phased out the .38 Special for weapons like the M9/92FS. Even other slide pistols like the M1911 ended up getting phased out by the M9/92FS.
      Now, were getting to the point where we're phasing those out as well.

    Yes indeed,
    the Soviet Military developed a Firearm, specificly for the use underwater - not sure if it was to be able to shoot sharks or not, but doesnt change the fact that they did.
    Its Called APS Underwater Rifle, and was developed under the guidance of Vladimir Simonov from 1970-1975.
    Chamered for special 5.66mm Rounds with a wierd Boxmagazine, im not sure if it becomes part of the "foregrip" or the "foregrip" is part of the mag, but it certainly looks different then assembled.
    Open nonadjustable sight, which look a bit like Fallout 4 got thier inspiration for thier Pipegun sights not gonna lie - but knowing soviet tech it somehow still worked.
    The rifle had a longer life expectancy underwater than on the surface (around 2000 shots underwater vs 180(!) on the surface).
    as far as i am aware (and i litery only know a few things about this gun) it was only used by Combat Divers and special units of the russian Navy.

    Triangular bullet housings were experimented with awhile ago because in theory, the ammo can be packed more tightly together and fit more ammo. They problem with them is the the triangular housing are too expensive to make compared to a standard housing for the pay off. There is an example of one of these guns on forgotten weapons’ youtube channel but unfortunately, I don’t have the link.

    11:00. Fun fact there were actually round tri anguler like that in the 60 called trounds. It was made for this pistol called a dardick and the idea of the dardick was to make a mag fed revolver. Something with high capacity and simicity of a revolver. I dont know why the dardick couldnt use normal rounds but it most likely has to do with reliability.

      I didn't even think about that aspect. The first thing my mind went to was the Puckle Gun. (Patented 1718 as "Puckle Machine Gun") It was designed in two variants. The first one used normal round bullets, nothing fancy. The second however was carnage as it used square bullets with square chambers. I figured the triangle bullets were a modern/futuristic reimagining of that concept.
      (Unrelated but according to the patent the "humane" round bullets were for shooting Christians, while the square ones were to be used exclusively for Turks. That is literally what is written in the file)

    Triangular because if square then you would need to space them out more, triangles allow the two rounds to be attached corner to corner but still let the belt bend in two directions. Square rounds attached corner to corner would bind up in one direction which would prevent them from being arranged in a box magazine, unless an additional linkage was added between each round. This will allow the belt to flex in both directions but would make the belt longer for same number of rounds.
    Triangular shaped ammo could use a unique feed system, where a gear that has teeth the same size as the triangle between two rounds could feed rounds but any other shape is quite bad for that kind of mechanism.
    Having any breach with corners is bad because corners are weak (also why gas cylinders are round etc). If you want to contain pressure then you can't have corners. Furthermore orientation of the round becomes an issue; a round cartridge will feed into the breach no matter how you rotate it, but a triangle can only feed in three specific orientations, even a slight bit of misalignment will cause a big problem.

    Triangular could be convenient for belt storage, or assist feed more than a round surface would. Really the only big justification for being locked into round shapes at this point is it's probably way easier to rifle, and when hand loading round is always "right side up".
    But for a belt fed only system? No grunt fumbling more than any other belt fed. The HK was square but with a standard shaped boat tail, that seems even weirder than a triangular round with a triangular bullet assuming you can rifle a triangle. I think you can.

    Im pretty sure that most actual weapons can shoot under water... The worst problem is that they are join to jam eventually, due to the water oposing resistance to the movement of the mechanism. But... If you can operate It manually (like with any kind of Jam malfunction) you should be able to keep it shooting under water. This is because most bullets actually contains the requiered oxigen to shoot within the cartridge. This is because during the process itself its virtually imposible for the external air (with oxigen) to get inside the weapon untill the bullet has left the barrel or the mechanism has started cocling and the ejection port is at least partially opened. Though, bullets will be far less effective in water, due to they loosing energy quicker than when traveling through air.
    But yeah... Russians made a "AK" (at least, influenced by AK's) to work under water, optimized to under water conditions. Work better than other AK's under water, but worse ouside water... So yeah... It existed, but i dont know if its really worth it.
