I’m American but this sort of more obscure political history on Canada is very fascinating. Also these 1930’s depression era populist quasi-socialist movements are very fun.
Douglas Social Credit is anti-socialist. It's the universalization of capitalism via monetary reform.
@@oliverhawthorne3434 It still functions within capitalism but I'd say that while it functionally is capitalist it uses a lot of the rhetoric and analysis of socialism.

@@TheSkyGuy77cathos, orthodox and other eastern churches tend to have an authority and stablished interpretation of the bible.
However many groups within the church may stablish some views. Always within their churchs perspective.
There is diferent interpretations just in a more structurated/organized way within the church itself. Some are radical some not depends on the place and the time period.

The original democracy didnt have secret ballots.
Famously, the Athenians used show of hand, so you would immediately know who voted what.
Anonymity in voting protects you from retaliation (in theory), but it does not preposition the end of Democracy per see.
But by bringing up ancient athens you showcase exactly what he means by democracy dying. When someone can be exiled from their social circle for exercising their civic rights the system inevitably becomes a rule by like-minded gangs willing to retaliate against those who don't follow their party line. Anonymous democracy can still fall into that but its much easier to protect against when the gangs don't know who to go for in particular.
@@juwebles4352The system of ostracizing people in Athens was actually supposed to protect democracy. They would probably accept us of not being democratic because we allow popular demagogues to seize power and rule as de facto monarchs. See FDR for example, being elected to four terms. He only stopped being president when he died and outright bullied the Supreme Court into letting him violate the Constitution.

And let's be honest, 70% of people share their votes out loud after an election.
However, this system would definitely not work on small towns.
