    Hi Jon - Thanks very informative video - I believe that I have been suffering from two of the faults you mention - 2 & 3 - I think I have been dipping into the shot in an effort to get "after the ball" as one pro told me to do many years ago. Also I think I do suffer from "casting the club" in the downswing as well. Ive worked over the practice area to get rid of the "dipping" issue and now my ball striking has considerably improved by keeping my right shoulder high, if that makes sense - but I still don't take much of a divot after the ball - I seem to be "sweeping away" even with the short irons. Oh well - thanks again

      It makes sense as a feeling to stop dipping! Good luck

    Thanks for your video. You described exactly what happens when I don't watch out for those three faults. I've almost gotten literally insane before trying to stop doing just what you described. It's such a mental thing with me sometimes that I get a mental block and forget that the reason I'm not striking the ball properly is because of these three things. A video that I watched once was an old timer describing the turn sequence of a swing that really hit home for me. He said to slightly bend inward my left knee while rotating my hips as though they were on a vertical axis of a swinging door with my chin an left shoulder aligned with my left knee. Considering everything else with my swing was correct, I practiced that and was able to create a divot in the front of the ball. Another thing I had to remember was that at the start of my swing, my club should lean left of the ball before takeaway while cocking my wrists at the 45 degree angle of my back swing and that I shouldn't unlock my wrists until I was about 30 degrees past the ball. It allows your hips to open up more when turning on an axis of vertical alignment with my chin and left shoulder straight up and down behind the ball just so slightly. I know everyone has a description of the do's and don'ts of the swing but, by adopting his approach it has taken all the unnecessary movements out of play with my swing and given me more power. Just a comment and thanks for your video.

    dear Coach ..tQ tQ tQ for the video (my 1st video of TruGolf).
    It is very well presented at a very nice instructional pace with very important points of course - it got even better that you have included subtitles and graphics.
    I personally like the part having the the stick under the right thigh as guide to limit the backswing turn.
    I have "liked" n I have subscribed.
    Take care n tQ again.

    I've seen that another reason for contact issue is if the head dips and goes towards the target in the backswing. I've had that issue. Solving that helped me

    Hi Jon, super great lesson!
    Always had a problem hitting the ground before the ball but never considered that moving sideways toward the target too much could cause it. That because I've seen on videos that I used to have the weight on both feet when striking the ball.
    Q: How should the weight be distributed as it shifts onto the left foot in the downswing? Before ending up on the outside of the left heel should it move directly onto the heel or gradually travel from the toes to the midfoot and lastly onto the heel? Seems to me a direct shift onto the heel could cause a slice and if leaning too much forward could cause a flip?

    Just had a shocking nine holes,started chunking the turf before the ball,after having a wash up what went wrong, I think it could of been putting to much weight on my back leg ,will take this in mind next time.

    Does hitting wiffles and practice balls help? I feel like I have become good at hitting practice balls and worse at hitting real balls.

    • @TruGolfAcademy
      @TruGolfAcademy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What’s a wiffle? Are the practice balls real on a range? Or airflow ones in the garden? Maybe the practice just needs be be more structured and include games to make it feel more pressured like on the course!

    Thank you for using “trail foot” to indicate your right foot. As a left handed golfer, I’ve found most explanations and videos nearly impossible to follow because of the constant left-right translation required.

    Never worked. All coaches say different things. “Shift don’t shift”, “slide don’t slide”

    • @TruGolfAcademy
      @TruGolfAcademy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m not suggesting there isn’t some lateral movement towards the target, definitely pressure should be applied to the lead side. Just that people need to be careful not to slide too far as the upper body reacts and tilts back or players flip. I like the lead knee to move back to its original position in the transition.

      @@TruGolfAcademy I'm not a bad guy and I see you're a nice person too by the way you were kind in your reply so don't think I didn't notice that. I was just being honest and trying to help you get it, that people won't watch or listen to long clips. If it isn't under two minutes for most people they won't touch it. I suggest you try to tighten things up and see if it works better. In this uneducated land we now live in, they don't want to know the history of anything OR ANY FACTS...They simply want to know how, and it better be fast as the attention span is almost non-existent for most people. Most people won't even read anything as long as I just wrote so I give up really. I hope this helps and if not...be well anyhow and were still both big fans of the game..
