Cody this was a great review. Excellent discussion of the combat. Ironically, this is the opposite of your Amazing Circus video, where you didn’t like the game so much - but I happened to see another reviewer who (somewhat) liked that game. For Tails of Iron, I happened to see another review last week that was decidedly negative. I think he had some criticisms of the combat and movement. Anyway, it really demonstrates how subjective all these reviews are; we all react so differently to the same things. As for me, I haven’t tried this yet, but the aesthetics are absolutely compelling. The heavy outline reminds me of stained glass. But the muted color palette is something else entirely.
Scott, I 100% agree! Reviews are subjective to the reviewers preferences and personal experiences and connections. Sometimes a game just click, some take a bit to warm up to, and other just never take flight. But again, a lot of that comes down to personal opinions. In my experience, if you've found a reviewer that recommends games that you've enjoyed, or helped you find one that you enjoy, then you can start to trust them a little better :) In a game like Tails of Iron, the beautiful art like you mentioned doesn't hurt its chances of players falling in love with it. The stained glass is an excellent comparison too! I hope you get a chance to try it someday so you can let me know what you think :)
I think I’d prefer watching a playthrough rather than play it myself, if only because souls-like combat is something I tend to find frustrating. I won’t deny that this does look and sound absolutely amazing though and that a lot of people will get a lot of enjoyment out of it. It seems fantastic in many ways. Thanks for the review.
That's fair! Souls-like combat seems to be one of the most divisive game mechanics, either you love it or you hate it. Maybe equally as divisive as the roguelike/lite genre lol.

Awesome review! Loved your thoughts about the combat. I was thinking of maybe a different fix (not sure what) but just using their posturing would be good.
Thank you Vlad! Yeah, more emphasis on the enemy posture would have made it playable without the signals, I think. Although the combat being a little easier for a souls-like game helped me get to the story and world a lot faster than usual, so I can't complain too much!

lmao dude! You've never had Bug Juice? It's not good, total sugar rush, but if there's nothing else around, I would drink one. I firmly believe that you will enjoy this whenever you get the time to play it. It's souls-like, but cute and humorous too. Quite a lethal combination in my opinion.

when you are about to recieve the crown and a spear flies out of nowhere to kill the king and war breaks out, man i was like woah wtf lol. I actually flinced bc i as so into these adorable mice squeaking at each other them BAM murder and fire everywhere lol. I love this game and have been looking for something like this since prob hollowknight.

Got the game and it was love at first sight. One of my favorites games so far and with the voice of geralt of rivia as a narator it makes the story even more compleling. The art style is pure pleasure for my eyes and it keeps me wondering how they managed to draw like that

Absolutely man, this week actually surprised me bc I was looking ahead to Sable! But Eastward and Tails of Iron both have been getting really positive reviews! And TOEM is another one, if you like more casual adventures :)

Expensive indeed! Right now, at least on my calendar, October looks to be a little slower, but we're still a week and a half away, and who knows what else will be announced.
Awesome video man. The game indeed looks amazing. This is one of those game i know i will play down the line. Personally, not a fan of souls-like games because of the difficulty and frustration but if this game is, as you said, easier than most, i'm definitely down for it. I really like you have different resistances against different types of enemies as well.

Me, I'm a Heat fan. Optimistic about our chances this year. Hopefully, we won't choke like last year, lol. That was brutal.
Sadly, I've only followed the NBA loosely after Dwight Howard left Orlando (yes, it's been a while. It still hurts) At least the Heat have won a championship within recent memory! But yeah, choking never feels good. I'm a big baseball fan, and am just waiting for the Yankees to narrowly miss the playoffs this year (or get cheated out of a World Series appearance by the Astros again xD)
What a time for indies. I’m finishing up Psychonauts 2 and then I’ll move on to either Eastward, Tails of Iron, or Twelve Minutes. I sort of consider Psychonauts to be an indie given that it was crowdfunded haha. Thanks for the review!
What a time indeed! Just between yesterday and today, Tails of Iron, TOEM, Severed Steel, Eastward, and even more came out! Obviously I highly recommend Tails of Iron, but from what I've heard, you can't go wrong with Eastward either. Twelve Minutes...I've heard some complaints of being overly repetitive and a slog later in the game, but I can't speak to that personally. Thankfully next week looks a little quieter, and we'll finally get a full look at Sable :)
@@IndieGamePulse Seriously! There’s been a lull in AAA games these recent years, which has really allowed me to delve into indies. I haven’t looked at any reviews for Twelve Minutes yet, but that does make me a bit more wary to try it out. I haven’t seen much about Sable but it looks promising!
@@EricShoe it just feels like the AAA games are running out of ideas, at least the shooters I used to spend a lot of time playing, and that's why I started playing so many indies. So many great ideas coming to fruition, it's a great time to be a gamer 😊

People say that this game its too hard but how?, I'm a very bad player at every single game and im not dying over and over again on the bosses, the only one that made me frustrate was Green Wart

@@IndieGamePulse you should review it. Amazing beautiful game. Definitely 10/10 from me. Amazing soundtrack,nice and hilarious dialogue,very funny and unique dozens of NPC characters and the best part is that gorgeous pixel art style. So gorgeous. There’s also lot of pop culture in the game.
From the trailer, it's apparent how beautiful the game is, but there isn't much shown of characters or story. Glad to hear that it lives up to or even exceed expectations! I love games that include a healthy dose of humor, like Undertale, and even Tails of Iron to a degree, even though it's more subtle with the musical conversations ;)

The artwork alone put it in my top 10 for the year, just a beauty to look at! And the gameplay and storytelling is excellent as well. I too put it very high on my 2021 GOTY list!

It´s a medieval Dark Souls rat. 9.5/10
whoever decided to color code 2 of the attacks as red and the rest as different colors, youre a terrible developer. i give up on your game. supposed to react to the different attacks but 2 seperate attacks are color coded as red so its hard to react properly. i wanted to platinum the game but now i give up because all of the bosses are op af and the story is lame as sht
