I think the cage size recommendation is wrong, pet shops often recommend smaller cages than birds need because they don't have enough room in their shop to stock larger cages. If your senegal is going to spend a lot of time in their cage because you're at work all day, definitely invest in a much larger cage. But remember about bar spacing as too wide a space can be dangerous and too narrow spacing and the bars will probably be too weak to support the right size perches for your senegal
I have 3 Senegals, the oldest has been with me for 26 years, so I can give informed feedback. Good points: Quiet and inoffensive calls Staggeringly affectionate companions (I walk one outside on my shoulder, but I wouldn't recommend others to try this!) Inquisitive and playful Can talk a bit, but not the best They rarely bite Bad points: They are compulsive chewers. Nothing escapes. When they do bite, their bite hurts - a lot. It's totally out of proportion to their size. I have a large number of types of parrot and they are the best pets of the lot for someone with a bit of experience (Beginners - get a cockatiel)
Hi, I just adopted a 4 years old female senegal from someone with bold spots and she is still plucking. What's her treatment? She loves to be on my shoulder and cuddles for long time
@@ryanfil1927 I have recently had a long conversation with my vet over this as one of my female Senegals plucks when she goes broody. 1) As the days get longer, this stimulates breeding behaviour. Make sure the birds get put to bed in a dark place and preferably cover the cage. 2) Don't pet your bird on the back. Just pet them on the head and neck. 3) Discourage skirt dancing (wings down, squeaky calls) 4) Cut down on rich food. Give more healthy fresh veg. 5) Remove anything the bird might try yo nest in.
@@ryanfil1927 It's a mating invite, though males do it as well. Female parrots are usually only touched on their back during mating. If you scratch their backs, especially during the breeding season, it is indicative that they have mated and this often results in egg laying. They may also pluck feathers, especially downy feathers round the breast region.
My Sennie is a rescue. Owners didn't want her after 12 years and she didn't want me. We worked on it together and I wouldn't trade her for all the riches in the world now. She is with me all the time. I love her so very much.
Great video!! But I would say they would need about 4-5 hours out of the cage,My Senegal parrot craves human companionship and always wants to be with me,one hour won’t do the job (or atleast from what I’ve experienced).
U Pandici sam kupila kopnenu kornjaču koju nisam mogla naći nigdje drugo. Imaju jako neobične i prelijepe životinjice u ponudi. Sve što je potrebno za bilo kojeg ljubimca može se naći u Pandici.
I don't understand why all video and information say that they make good apartment birds and are quiet. I've had mine for about 2 years and he can be incredibly loud, sometimes sounding like a smoke alarm.
@@FemaleTyler1 Yes. He just started mimicking other things like laughing and a zipper noise (it’s hilarious). I started zipping/unzipping a bag I had, and he was doing it over and over LOL
What is with this narration?? Just read the damn thing please. It makes it harder to pay attention to. Why is that weird robot voice so popular right now? Jesus.
I had the best tame male Senegal for 14 yr. Alway went for walks on my shoulder. BFF. He died when I left the burner on under my Teflon pan. Tragic. I have a 12 yo Senegal since he was a baby. Has always drawn blood with biting. Was bossy even as a baby. Don't trust him
My Senegal parrot was my favorite pet ever. He lived 30 years and had the most amazing personality. I miss him so much.
Condolences on your loss.

@@kingcurry6594 she does that skirt dancing when I go near her or when she climbs on my chest. What’s that behavior mean? Thank you for your help

hahahaha :') but they are quieter than other parrots
exactly!!!! Mine also mimics alarms and she has a really annoying peep when she wants out of the cage.

Awwww I've got a sengal parrot he's 13 he talks he likes me I can stroke him but he doesn't like my partner
Papagaj je precool.
I can disagree, as soon as the hormones kick in they are moody. Mine also is very noisy as soon as i leave him alone.

Sorry for that :) You can turn on the titles.
Thank you for your suggestion.
Shut up
My god, AI narration is so jarringly annoying. Good video otherwise.

Couldn't you get a damn HUMAN BEING to narrate this?
Quiet?????? Hahahahahaha. NOT!!!!!
All birds should be free roamed 24/7 with the cage door always open. The cage should serve as a bedroom only. 💞🦜
