    Here's a tip for some of you: frozen veggies are usually cheaper than fresh veggies.

      It's totally a local thing. When I lived in NC, it was easily $4 a gallon.

    Crazy to see how prices have changed. I just paid $1.89 for a lb of Broccoli. 😀 AND it wasn't even organic.

    Every couple months the Jennie O gr turkey goes as low as 99c for 1 lb pkg . That is at Save A Lot . That is when we stock up. We mix our turkey with our group beef to stretch it

    if you have an Albertsons then you should look up Cash&Carry in your local area. One 40 lb box of sweet potato is just under $20. There are tons of other good purchases at the store, just saying.

    Though cold cereal is convenient, we don’t buy it because it’s expensive and lacks nutrition compared to having brown rice n’ raisins, oatmeal (5 cents a serving), whole wheat pancakes, oatmeal pancakes, whole wheat crepes, etc. The bit of extra time to make breakfast is worth the nutrition.

    Christine, I'm trying to shop smart for my family, but I'm confused about one thing. What do I look for as an expiration date... Sell by, Use by, or Best by? I find myself throwing away food that to me, are expired but may not be.

    • @brandyfreeman4098
      @brandyfreeman4098 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Wilma Santos, the "sell by" date is the date the stores have to sell the product by. Use by/best by are the dates you want to look more at. However, just because those dates are past doesn't mean the item isn't any good. You can freeze a lot of items that make them good well past those dates. Hope that helps some. That's the shortest possible way I could think to explain it 😀.

      For most foods, with meat being a separate thing altogether, "Best Before" doesn't mean "Rotten After". Sell By dates are just red tape stores have to abide by. I routinely eat expired packaged food and rarely find any issues. All the best!

    where are you if Walmart was 1.89 for a gallon of milk? Any time of any recent year? I don't like that the prices are so different for different areas of the world! it's over $3 on Oklahoma for one gallon this whole year, 2016.

    • @FrugalFitMom
      @FrugalFitMom  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      My Albertsons has had a gallon of milk for $1.79 all year this year. However, I live right by Cache Valley which is known for their dairy farms. All the milk and cheese in my area is quite inexpensive.

    Good for you, if this works for you and your family, but this would never work for my family of 3, especially where we live.We are living more of a low carb life style. Most of your groceries are carbs. But like I said, if this works for you , great

      Just cereal and crackers. They probably only eat a box of crackers a week but is stocking up because of the price. Would you make the same comment if she had one box per week?

    Where is the meat? When i seen 200 for 6 people for a month, I thought wow that's great, but you really didn't show much meat but the hot sausage.

    • @FrugalFitMom
      @FrugalFitMom  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have a ton of meat in my freezers in the garage, but this is also just a quick trip to stock up on some sales, not at all a whole month of food. :)

      You should change the title of the video if you are not showing what you actually purchase and use for one month. People want to know how much you really spend per month to feed your family in a month.

    I like to watch hauls videos but sadly, I realize how much people prefer to buy cheap food full of carb, rather than spending a couple more dollars on getting healthy food. Good video though.

    Yeah, I agree with other commenters, the title of the video is misleading. I was thinking going in that wow! 200 bucks a month for 6people??!? Fill me in! But you mention in a comment that this was just a stock up, you have meat (for example) in the freezer, and then at the end you mention that your husband is going to be out of town for a week and a half.. we could eat really cheap too if we ate cereal / ramen / pancakes for dinner all the time 🤷🏼‍♀️
    Great stock up haul video tho! 👍
