  • Full Recipes and Price Breakdown:
    Appetizer: Pickle Fritters
    Dill pickles $1.25
    Southern fry mix $1.25
    Ranch for dipping $1.25
    Appetizer Cost $3.75
Drain entire jar of pickles and chop finely. Mix chopped pickles with dry fry mix until a tacky dough forms (for me this was about 1/2 to 3/4 of a cup of fry mix) I pan fried these fritters in oil until cooked and then I drained on paper towels and I fried them a second time to get them ultra crispy. Serve with ranch for dipping.
    Main course: Creamy Gnocchi Skillet
    Gnocchi $1.25
    Sausage $1.25
    Frozen Pepper stir fry $1.25
    Cream cheese blend $1.25
    Parmesan cheese $1.25
    Mozzarella cheese $1.25
    Main course cost $7.50
Bring a large pot of water up to a boil, cover and set aside.
In a skillet, fry and crumble the sausage until brown, do not drain. The sausage fat will add extra flavor. Add 2 handfuls (about half the bag) of pepper stir fry (mine was thawed) and sautee for a few minutes. Stir in 6 oz of cream cheese blend cut into cubes and about 1/2 to 3/4 of a cup of the boiled water we had set aside earlier. Continue to Heat and stir until you have a smooth and creamy sauce and stir in 1/4 to 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese to taste. Taste and season if desired. Set aside.
Return to your boiling water and cook your gnocchi for 3 to 5 minutes until it starts to float to the top. Do not overlook this or it will be gummy. As each gnocchi floats transfer them to your prepared cream sauce. Gently stir the gnocchi and sauce together, top with mozzarella and broil until brown on top. Enjoy!
    Desert: Cherry Cobbler
Muffin mix (mixed berry or blueberry) $1.25
    Cherry pie filing $1.25
    Vanilla ice cream $1.25
    Desert cost $3.75
Mix muffin mix with 1/2 cup of water or milk. Add cherry pie filling to the bottom of a baking dish and top with muffin batter. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes and serve warm with ice cream.

If you add a cheap bottle of wine from Aldi, and a movie rental you have a whole date and dinner for $25. You can’t beat that price. The gnocchi looked great!

Our state doesn't allow regular stores to sell alcohol....but we do have trader joes, which has it's own liquor store and you can get an actually decent bottle of wine for 4 bucks!

@@angelwings7866 I once lived in a state like that and I was so confused that the grocery store had no wine or beer. I asked another person in the store where the beer was and they looked at me like I was crazy. In my state the state agency sells liquor, but grocery stores and even drug stores or gas stations carry wine and beer.

if you pan fry store bought gnocchi then add a splash of water/liquid and cover the pan to steam-fry (similar to cooking potstickers) you'll get a crispy exterior and soft fluffy inside. Adds a bit more texture as sometimes I find they get too mushy.

This is my second video of yours and I want to say thank you for having a realistic kitchen. Some cooking TH-cam channels have kitchens that are so empty and spotless and free of all countertop appliances that it feels like a model home, rather than a place someone lives in and actually cooks in. So thank you for keeping it real.

Hi Rebecca. I know what you mean about being in the right mood make something and you want it to come out right, tasting really good. I'm like that with baking, I've got to be in the mood to bake, if I'm not, forget about it. It will not for the life of me come out right, either by look, taste or both. So, I get what you're talking about! Do it when it feels right for you. Don't push yourself into it if you're not feeling it that day. Don't stress about it either. You need to take good care of yourself too. Always . Anyways, you have a great day and take care.🌞👩‍🍳

All 3 look so good, I’m trying these very soon. As far as dropping in the gnocchi, if you set them in your slotted spoon and added them that way, it should keep the water from getting you. You can use your nondominant hand to pick up a couple and have it ready so as soon as the spoon comes up you can add to the spoon , drop into the water and repeat.

Little tip for adding anything that "plops" into boiling water without getting that splash effect.....place what you are adding to the water into a large serving spoon (in this case gnocchi you could add several to the spoon) and gently submerge the spoon in the water and tip the items out of the spoon. I made some of your pickle fritters for a small family gathering when we were having fried fish. Instead of the chicken fry mix, I used some of our dry fish batter mix (it's from a local mill: fish tastes like beer battered by only adding water and it's a family fave). I did need to add some of the pickle juice (maybe I drained my pickles TOO well, lol). They fried up beautifully, and my family was disappointed that there wasn't more of them! 😄 Yesterday I saw gnocchi at DT for the first time and bought a pack- I had COMPLETELY forgotten about your recipe for it, so I'll definitely be going back for the other ingredients to try this one, too! (Not taking this dish to a family gathering though- looks too yummy to share! 😉) Thanks for all you do- and it makes me smile to see you so happy with your creations!🥰

You can put the gnocchi in a strainer and lower it in slowly to prevent th me splash. I enjoy your videos so much. Please keep them coming.

I just found your video and am really glad I did. My anniversary is in a couple weeks and I've been trying to come up with something special to make. We both love fried pickles and cobblers and your idea looks super easy for both. And it will be something new for both of us, so I'm going to try your entree as well! Thanks for sharing 🙂

To place any thing in boiling water, just load up a slotted spoon, spider, or even a deep fry lifter, then just lower them in. Works like a charm for boiling or deep frying! Dinner looked awesome!!! 🥰

Those fritters look great! If you have a few kitchen staples on hand, you can make a basic fritter batter for nearly any vegetable: Per 1 cup of finely chopped/shredded veggies, mix in 1 beaten egg, about a half cup of flour, and season to taste.

When I'm putting tortellini or gnocchi into the water, I cut the whole end off the package, then hold the slotted spoon just under the water, and DUMP from the box to the spoon, moving my hand straight up away from any splash.

I’m Italian and we do a similar fritter with a seasoned flour batter and thinly sliced zucchini and also chopped zucchini flowers. They’re my absolute favourite thing in the world lol this reminded me of them ❤

Absolutely love the DT imported gnocchi!!! I have stopped boiling them in favor of pan frying. They become light and fluffy with a beautiful crisp exterior.
