    its a bit yellow round the edges now due to its age..BUT i still remember that day. shaped my first bonsai using a choice from the nursery one for the morning session and one for the afternoon......that tree look s very nice after it was re shaped and potted thanks corin

  • @andreasweber1533

    Agree on the choice of pot; alternatively a very simple rounded rectangle "trough" might have worked (kind of cliché for conifers of course). And the first time I've seen someone demonstrate gripping onto the wire with pliers to bend a branch. I had started to wonder whether I was the only one doing that ... ;-)

    Very interesting video and a great improvement in the style. I have a Deodar cedar that was planted in my mother's garden that I took out last year. It is still very much alive but has not put on much growth. I know cedars are a bit sulky. Is this to be expected?

  • @opabinnier
    @opabinnier 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My favorite bonsaist. But with C libani it's always such a waste not to express the unique habit of the species: main branches creating great horizontal planes of foliage. This character is even more striking and handsome in bonsai when the horizontal pad composition works with the angular and flowing trunk, This was a lost opportunity. Come on Corin, you're our number ONE.

    • @greenwoodbonsaistudio
      @greenwoodbonsaistudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks, But bonsai isn't a direct copy of the same species in nature. Its an artistic expression. I have 2 other large cedars that are styled more as you mention, as their branch structure suits that style. With this one the style was initially more dictated by the movement in the trunk, Therefore I went with a more flowing branch arrangement. Glad you like the vid's

    But Ancient Lebanese Cedar trees does not look crooked like that at all. By the way, Lebanese Cedar are steeped thousands of years of history in the Middle East, like the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem, that should have contained the Covenant.
