    Had to follow the manual and add a significant amount of jack oil. Made a difference in # of pumps needed to raise to car level.

    I just bought one of those last weekend. It’s so nice. I’m able to get my car on race ramps without using wood blocks. Which is way safer. Just remember to remove the plastic retaining clip on the pump mechanism when you first get out of the box. I bent the little metal cross tube trying to pump the jack with the clip in there. It’s weird because it doesn’t say anywhere in the instructions that there’s even a clip you need to remove. Oh well. The jack works perfect for low cars.

    As of now (Jan 2022), this same DS300LR jack has only increased from $189.99 to $229.99, which considering the devastating decline of the US dollar, isn't bad at all. It's still a great bargain and I plan to go pick one up tomorrow. In case Harbor Freight has different prices for different markets, I'm in Phoenix.

    Half the fun of owning a four wheel drive is kitting it out! The jack's a beast but if you don't mind a suggestion, take a look at what are known as high lift jacks, or farm jacks.
    The are not just your traditional jack, they can serve double duty as a hand winch/ comealong too. If you find yourself stuck in ruts you can't drive out of, a high lift jack comes out, you jack the vehicle up so the wheels clear the side of the rut and just push it over off the jack. Your trolley jack has one use - it's a great, easy and safe jack to use on a stable solid surface like that garage floor. The highlift jack, with a decent base, can be used on mud sand and snow which makes it a valuable recovery tool as well as being the jack you'd take with you in case you need to change a tire on the trail. A quick search shows they're also available at harbor freight.
    They're seen as standard equipment for off road touring in Australia. I think you should start a trend of having them on hand in the US. Lets face it, if you're offroading right, you're going to get stuck somewhere some time. When it happens and you have the equipment in your car to get yourself out of a tricky situation, you understand the other half of the fun of four wheeling, self reliant problem solving.
    I'm really happy because my beast of a 300L/min compressor turned up yesterday. That completes the holy trinity of affordable self-recovery equipment.
    1. Recovery tracks / maxtrax. they can be used as intended as a "portable road" to help you drive out of a sand or mud bog, can also be used to bridge gaps in ruts or help you step up an incline you might not have been able to drive over otherwise. The tracks I found on ebay had a farm jack baseplate shape molded right into the tracks themselves, so they can be used as a massive base to spread the jack's load over a much larger surface area which means an easier lift in soft sand and mud.
    2. a high lift jack with a tire hook attachment, a pair D shackles and a winch rope.
    3. the compressor for pumping the tires back up once you finish the trail and are going back on road. Dropping you r tire pressure can be the number one way to avoid getting bogged in the first place so a portable 12 volt compressor that makes short work of pumping up a car tire is essential in my book. Don't scrimp on a cheaper one, get the most powerful portable compressor you can find. 300L minute flow rate and 220 PSI max pressure should be good enough for you and a friend.

    • @Noises
      @Noises 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      As an after thought. Although I have a 3 ton trolley jack and pin locking jack stands in my garage as well the high lift jack for going away, If I need to get under the car to do anything I usually end up using my steel car ramps because they're easier and safer. you can get lower profile ramps for lower cars but I never see anything in low profile taller than 8 inches (my steel ones are a foot tall.) There again you could use your max tracks to step up the GT360 onto steel ramps anyway so it's all good.

    They are $150 currently that is still not bad. However i bought mine 5 years ago. $50 brand new. I figured why not it's $50. Turned out to be quality as fuck. I have had no issues with it. After five years it just needed some oil. I noticed it wasn't getting my tires off the ground anymore. So i stopped using it. Eventually went to get oil for it, cause i was tired of using a scissor jack. Put in new oil, and boom it's like brand new. Super trusty. I don't know if i would pay $150 or more for it, seeing as i got the steal for one, but it's a quality piece and you can't go wrong with it. It comes with a 3 year warranty so if it breaks just take it back. No questions asked. Mines held up this long, just check the oil now and again and you're good. Don't wait too long though, cause the o-ring on the fill plug get stuck to the cylinder if you leave it there too long without releasing the pressure.

    • @mattevans1643
      @mattevans1643 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pedal is not for jacking weight. It's to get the jack to height, once weight is on the jack you have to pump by hand. The pedal doesn't create enough pressure to lift the weight of the car. There is no jack in the world where the pedal can lift a vehicle.

    • @mattevans1643
      @mattevans1643 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, that's just the way low profile daytona jacks work. Their regular jack only requires 3-4 pumps to reach max. Their low profile one takes about 8. Theirs a reason for that. The definition of low car has a lot of variables. In the case of this jack, it must be at least 3.75 inches off the ground. Assuming the car is 4 inches off the ground it would hit resitance pretty quickly. You don't want that type of jack to be able to lift itself faster and with more force, in case you miss your jack point. Don't know how you would do that, but it's possible. That would end very badly.
