There are SO many theories on these sounds. One common theory is the theory that these are the cries of the Octarian civilization losing power. Another (after Octo Expansion) being the "successful" subjects who were supposed to go to the "promised land" with Professor tartar getting blended and their screams being ran out by train. And a new one suggested Splatoon 3's humans' escape in Alterna, the liquid crystals holding those memories of when the last humans were being crushed by debris after the rocket's malfunction.

You still hear these even when confronting Octo Samurai in OE, and they sound exactly the same (not to mention how you're still getting the Thangs, unless there are multiple stations and multiple of a given Thang so that multiple test subjects can go through simultaneously, but there's no implications of that so)

Considering the fact there's a sealed off section in the train meaning the other test subject could've been on that part of the train and failed getting blended while Eight was in a test. And it doesn't even need to be getting blended, it could just be octolings being sanitized by Tartar.

One of the Alterna Logs states that the underground domes that humans lived in were made out of crystals produced by squid that could reflect human desires and emotions. Here are my theories of what these sounds are: 1- The screams and cries of the humans who drowned when the entirety of earth was flooded, the clanking and machinery noises are buildings falling down 2- The screams of octarians who were being sanitised 3- Octarians screaming because you took away their only power supply (The zapfish) 4- The Deepsea Metro just moving along the railway
TBH, I think 1 is the most likely, at least if you take it as the sounds happening for ghost-like reasons. The screams sound way too human, and we don't hear a blender.
A mix of 2 and 4, octarians have power eggs to power everything, they just can’t power their giant monstrous war machines lol, the bells and metal is mostly the deep sea metro moving, while the screams are of octolings being blended.
Two scenarios: 1) You know the goggles that Octolings wear and the shades that Callie wore? What if the goggles were brainwashing the Octolings and the metal clunks were them thrashing against the metal bed that held them down so they could get "remixed in the brain"? 2) It's the sound of the humans being driven to extinction. Octo Expansion will definitely explain this: you start off at a platform in an abandoned subway, which in this sound clip also has train sounds. Plus in the trailer there’s a part where Agent 8 is with someone in some sort of liquid and the “normal” Octolings in the trailer has blue instead of red, saying (in theory) that they were part of an experiment, that Agent 8 was able to escape, but the others were disposed for they were merely prototypes. But some of those disposed Octolings survived the killings, now forgetting who they are and now filled with anger, and will kill (in this case) splat anything in their way, because they were chemically changed for something that was a failed experiment for something...

I have a theory. SPOILER ALERT!!! This involves lore from Splatoon 1 and Splatoon 2. In Splatoon 2, one of the Newscasters is an Octoling. When I first saw her, I was confused at first, because the Single Player campaign in Splatoon (1) was all about how Octarians were evil, and Octolings we also evil. Why would Inkopolis welcome her with open arms, especially after the Great War? In Splatoon 2’s Sunken Scrolls, it shows the “Concert” when DJ Octavio was fighting with Agent 3, in Splatoon 1. You can see Marina in the background, and you can see Agent Three. Obviously, Marina was sided with Octavio for some time, but why did she stop? Take a look at Splatoon 2’s Octolings. They have glasses on that look eerily similar with Callie’s Shades that brainwashed her. See what I’m getting at? In One of the Sunken Scrolls in Splatoon 2, Marina can be seen in the center of the crowd, holding a pair of glasses in her hand. When Callie was performing, she was brainwashed by the Shades. Maybe that’s what happened to Marina, but she was able to take the glasses off. Maybe all Octolings are not evil, but hypnotized. I'm all for the theories saying sounds being screams and all, but a part of me tells me that it can be machinery sounds. For example, when there's much echo in a room, if you let fall a heavy, long, metal pipe it would sound a LOT. Maybe, down there, there are trains, and because of the constant moving, the loud machinery sound echoes and the player conceipts it as screaming. It's just a thought. ;-;

When the "Hero" entered Octo valley (or canyon if you're talking about Splatoon 2). Something horrific was going down. The Octarian population was slowly dropping. No one was left alive. Soon, the Octolings were dying down. Nothing could stop the Inkling. Once all of the Octarians that were out to stop the Inkling all died, the ones who were alive started to scream. Trains were going off their tracks. The place was falling apart. And it's all thanks to the Inkling and their allies, Agent 1(Callie), Agent 2(Marie), and Captain Cuttlefish.

This is the horrifying truth: 25 years after everyone retreated to Alterna, the young scientists decided to construct a massive rocket to escape Alterna while ignoring the older scientists warnings, but tragedy struck during the first launch test. The rocket boosters overloaded the liquid crystals and then the cavern walls started to collapse, raining debris down on humanity. Alterna, the last source of civilization, was no more. For y’all saying these are the sounds of octolings being blended by TarTar, you aren’t correct. The statue we cover in the end is on top of the levels in Octo expansion. The reason it seems to be an alternate dimension is because it is under the pressure of the statue. Also think of it, all of the places the train is in are areas that could easily be underwater. I think this is the octolings being mind controlled, or being beaten by higher ups for disobeying, or something like that. But it isn’t them being blended. Do I think it’s octolings? Yes. Do I think it’s Octo expansion/tartar? No.
This ambience would be PERFECT for the binding of isaac! After a boss rush you hear this as if the phantoms of your enemies are coming back to torment you.

I think these sound effects for me comes from octoling city. The Screams is from octolings in pain crying and houses has been destroyed because you (inkling kid) are taking the zap fish and without the zap fish, the octolings cannot survive. The train effect is the last octoling coming aboard to survive the apocalypse from octoling city, coming from another city or hiding in Inkopolis somewhere in houses to not get killed by the inklings. This is my Theory and also my opinion.

Here are my theories of what these sounds are:
1- The screams and cries of the humans who drowned when the entirety of earth was flooded, the clanking and machinery noises are buildings falling down
2- The screams of octarians who were being sanitised
3- Octarians screaming because you took away their only power supply (The zapfish)
4- The Deepsea Metro just moving along the railway
TBH, I think 1 is the most likely, at least if you take it as the sounds happening for ghost-like reasons.
The screams sound way too human, and we don't hear a blender.
A mix of 2 and 4, octarians have power eggs to power everything, they just can’t power their giant monstrous war machines lol, the bells and metal is mostly the deep sea metro moving, while the screams are of octolings being blended.

1) You know the goggles that Octolings wear and the shades that Callie wore? What if the goggles were brainwashing the Octolings and the metal clunks were them thrashing against the metal bed that held them down so they could get "remixed in the brain"?
2) It's the sound of the humans being driven to extinction. The rising sea levels were toppling over buildings, killing thousands per minute.

Octo Expansion will definitely explain this: you start off at a platform in an abandoned subway, which in this sound clip also has train sounds. Plus in the trailer there’s a part where Agent 8 is with someone in some sort of liquid and the “normal” Octolings in the trailer has blue instead of red, saying (in theory) that they were part of an experiment, that Agent 8 was able to escape, but the others were disposed for they were merely prototypes. But some of those disposed Octolings survived the killings, now forgetting who they are and now filled with anger, and will kill (in this case) splat anything in their way, because they were chemically changed for something that was a failed experiment for something...

Alright, where's your evidence? We can't conclude too much since we have no idea what the sounds refer to.
Arcade some people think its because the inklings take their zapfish away and thus their power which is complete garbage. The inklings had the zapfish for 100 (since the great turfwar). So it cant be because of that.
Map Maker and that explains what? Maybe its just because they overheated or didnt work properly. Its mentioned multiple times they use it to power stages and their battle machine. Why would their electric power be located on a barely protected group of platforms, rather than in the citys core?
Its cannon that the noises come from the octarians civilization being demolished by having a lac of power. The inklings are taking everything away from them. Look it up one of the games developers confirmed it.

I have a theory. SPOILER ALERT!!! This involves lore from Splatoon 1 and Splatoon 2.
In Splatoon 2, one of the Newscasters is an Octoling. When I first saw her, I was confused at first, because the Single Player campaign in Splatoon (1) was all about how Octarians were evil, and Octolings we also evil. Why would Inkopolis welcome her with open arms, especially after the Great War?
In Splatoon 2’s Sunken Scrolls, it shows the “Concert” when DJ Octavio was fighting with Agent 3, in Splatoon 1. You can see Marina in the background, and you can see Agent Three. Obviously, Marina was sided with Octavio for some time, but why did she stop?
Take a look at Splatoon 2’s Octolings. They have glasses on that look eerily similar with Callie’s Shades that brainwashed her. See what I’m getting at?
In One of the Sunken Scrolls in Splatoon 2, Marina can be seen in the center of the crowd, holding a pair of glasses in her hand. When Callie was performing, she was brainwashed by the Shades. Maybe that’s what happened to Marina, but she was able to take the glasses off. Maybe all Octolings are not evil, but hypnotized.
What I think the noises are is that they are Octolings being Brainwashed.

I'm all for the theories saying sounds being screams and all, but a part of me tells me that it can be machinery sounds. For example, when there's much echo in a room, if you let fall a heavy, long, metal pipe it would sound a LOT. Maybe, down there, there are trains, and because of the constant moving, the loud machinery sound echoes and the player conceipts it as screaming.
It's just a thought.

I think the screams are you frequent. TarTar only blended the subjects that completed the tests,.maybe most of these screams are just the subjects dying in the tests and the sound starting at 0:10 is the Blender bit it's less frequent obviously.

A lot of people think the screaming was because of the blender but I think It's because of the octarian domes running out of power, so they break. The lore states that they were seeking to seize the zapfish and great zapfish to power the great octoweapons and power the domes they live in created by the humans over 1200 years ago! These screams are the neighboring domes falling apart.

The screams are from the bosses that the other 100007 have killed and the octolings are screaming because we’re taking the power source the zap fish also some are from the 100007 that are being killed by a blender

For y’all saying these are the sounds of octolings being blended by TarTar, you aren’t correct. The statue we cover in the end is on top of the levels in Octo expansion. The reason it seems to be an alternate dimension is because it is under the pressure of the statue. Also think of it, all of the places the train is in are areas that could easily be underwater. I think this is the octolings being mind controlled, or being beaten by higher ups for disobeying, or something like that. But it isn’t them being blended. Do I think it’s octolings? Yes. Do I think it’s Octo expansion/tartar? No.

This ambience would be PERFECT for the binding of isaac! After a boss rush you hear this as if the phantoms of your enemies are coming back to torment you.
It’s either.
1) The last humans being driven to extinction because of rising sea levels and lots of other stuff.
or
2) The octolings/octarians dying because a. the inklings took their zapfish b. DJ octavio is brain washing them.
But really even the creator doesn’t know, so it might just be one of the developers head canons.

2) octarians use zapfish to power their Great OctoWeapons (the bosses) they use power eggs to do everything else

My friend said the sounds and baning was an audio of an fight or a train accident because i heard a dinging at one point or some one destroying stuff while othe people screaming
I think these sound effects for me comes from octoling city.
The Screams is from octolings in pain crying and houses has been destroyed because you (inkling kid) are taking the zap fish and without the zap fish, the octolings cannot survive.
The train effect is the last octoling coming aboard to survive the apocalypse from octoling city, coming from another city or hiding in Inkopolis somewhere in houses to not get killed by the inklings.
This is my Theory and also my opinion.

If these are really the liquid crystals holding the memories of humans for so long, why aren't the noises amplified in Alterna? Let alone being there.
I personally think that these are the sounds of the deepsea metro and tartar blending up his test subjects. Although it could still be the Octarians losing power and stuff so there's that
The screams are present in the Alterna Rocket Mission Overworld (During the infiltration mission) is not the same, but there are human screams during the distorted segments

I think this might have been added into as a mini teaser for Octo expansion. Remember, they planned to have octolings be playable in the first game
