      Did you happen to try anything in espresso range? If so did you have any luck? And do you know how many clicks in a full rotation? Sorry to blast you with questions

      @@gottowonder7168 I have not tried espresso grind. I mostly use it for drip and French press.

    This is at the top of my coffee wish list now. It looks like it addresses speed and quality of grind issues that most hand cranks have.

    Impressive manual grinder, but the price tag seems high compared with the Wilfa Svart low speed electric grinder at £105, which is also less fiddly to chose and vary the grind settings for different brews. Informative video. Thanks.

    So one time around equals 700 mm. 35 clicks x 20 mm. What do you recommend (microns) for the BUNN flat bottom classic drip machine?

    I know you've done a lot of grinding and you gave a couple of suggestions in the video on grind adjustment ... have you compiled a chart for the number of clicks from zero for the different brewing methods ... this would help me out tremendously.

    • @Frenchpresscoffeelove
      @Frenchpresscoffeelove  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      We are working on a supplemental article with chart. Which method (coarseness) are you targeting?

    • @91LEXUSS
      @91LEXUSS 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interested in: Hario v60, aeropress, espro French press, chemex, Bonavita Immersion Dripper, and Kalita Wave ... any advice on the grind would be great ... I found the chart you showed in the Video and I think I have a good idea ... but I'm sure you've done extensive hands on research.

    • @Frenchpresscoffeelove
      @Frenchpresscoffeelove  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes we did. We'll publish it soon. But what is very important is brew time. So let say if you use Aeropress and brew it for 1 min you need 1 grind and if you brew for 2 min (just saying) it will be a little coarser grind. So we will recommend grind with optimal brew time.

      It really defense what you want to do :). If you make single serve then Brazil would be better (max hopper capacity 36 g.). If you drink a lot of coffee then I think wilfa will be better choice.

      FrenchPressCoffee.com thank you so for an 8 cup French press is it doable since you need to grind seconds before adding hot water?

    • @Frenchpresscoffeelove
      @Frenchpresscoffeelove  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Usually 8 cup French Press with hold 32 oz of water. But there's coffee grounds as well + filter take space (Espro for example). So in reality you'll need to target around 28 oz of water and you can add more beans in the hopper (up to 50g) if need it. So it will work you just need to empty receptacle 2 times. Hope this helps.

    • @kenroman777
      @kenroman777 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      FrenchPressCoffee.com yes it does help thank you. Hi have been trying to use Starbucks house blend to make a non bitter brew and I am about giving up with it and looking to get a better grinder and possibly another coffee as I have tried FP and Clever so far unsuccessfully

    • @delnortekitchen
      @delnortekitchen 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Inconsistent grind with French Press (and any other method) lead to over-extraction (bitter taste) due small particles. So yes good grinder will help.

  • @kaypee1972
    @kaypee1972 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The base is great. But if you pre weight your beans before grinding, it can cause some problems: since the grinder is on a slope in the base, you will not grind all beans as they will remain in the upper part. So either you pick then the grinder up and grind the last beans without the base ( which is not easy, and I’m pretty sure the material of the housing is not sturdy enough for this) or you put in some more beans and weigh after grinding, the ground coffee. Also, not best option. Besides that a nice grinder, much faster than other hand grinders, ok consistency. Time will show how long the plastic body and the silicone rings will stay intact.

    Looking to upgrade from my cheapo hand burrs and this may fit the bill. Just hard to be sure if it's worth the premium over grinders like an upgraded hario or if it's better than comparably priced grinders like handground.

    One can use the AeroPress funnel, to aid with loading beans into the CrushGrind Brazil grinder! It is like it was designed to do that. it is the same color. Fits the top perfectly. #4realz If you do this, you will never spill a bean. Easier to weigh beans too without using your hand. I see there is one in the video, right behind Brian's left elbow. Great review. I love the deets on the grind settings. I had it set for a while but changed it to do a different grind. I could not quite get back to where I was. I didn't know the 2 micron thing either. Great stuff! Keep up the great vids! Peace!
