Wouldn't this game make for a great AVGN-episode? I can already picture the nerd going beserk after losing all his progress and Bennett Foddy saying something philosophical ^^

Aaron Laughlin not a bad game by any means, but easy to get angry at and criticize
It'd be hilarious if, through the AVGN's play-through, he starts to learn the lesson of the game: that it's not worth getting frustrated or angry over every little thing, and he starts to learn to appreciate the design of even really bad games... before riding the snake or something. exploding with rage, and going back to being his angry self.
One slight problem: AVGN episodes are only about games that are at least a decade old. This is why we got Big Rigs and Sonic 06, but nothing more recent.
And right after saying that, i realized he played some of his own games on AVGN. Shit.

The controls are kind of like riding a bike, once you learn it you never forget. Except in this situation someone popped the tires and pissed all over the floor. Then they ripped the handlebars off and replaced them with spikes.

This might be my favorite James & Mike Mondays video ever. It's really infectious seeing the two of them ride this game's weird learning curve, getting excited over every little bit of progress, and emotionally wrecked at every fall.

GUYS GUYS! This whole game was made in reference to the AVGN karate kid episode where he mentions if there was a super hard game where all you have to do is get over a cliff! Idk where the pot came in though hahaha
I love that when Mike is concentrated you can't joke with him, he takes everything so matter of fact it's hilarious

Of all the sillyness of this Game: the Gameplay looks interessting, because it's totally based on Skill.
The true horror is when you get to that damn orange table and fall all the way back to the bottom XD

Reminds me of a PC game from the 1990's where you're a bicycle rider and the wheels roll and stick to platforms, they're even elastic, very techy for its day.

They should try replacing the mouse with a touch pad. Less painful, but I don't know how well it would work with the game.
Or maybe up the mouse sensitivity and move it with fingers instead of whole wrist.

+Yo Momma PewDiePie played this and the game glitched out at one point. Something weird af like the character's arm stretched out really far and the game crashed. Probably a rarely encountered bug, though.
this is one of the better J&MM episodes in a god while. genuine and passionate reaction to the game made for some really engaging content.

I remember playing a BMX game a lot like this, where you make circles with the mouse to pedal, and the back wheel has to get on the obstacle or you'll fall off of it and everything was hard to get to, and after playing for about an hour, it said, "now you're ready for level one" and I fucking raged

After beating this 3 times I still felt I was only _starting_ to become competent with the controls. Recommended settings: trackpad tuning ON, mouse at 800 dpi, and mouse sensitivity at about 30-40%.
not sure if it applies to this game, but many games are also affected by the awful "mouse acceleration" (even sometimes called "improved precicion") from the operating system.
basically moving the mouse different distances depending not on mouse drag distance, but also the speed of dragging.

I feel like the dev knew this and added it on purpose. You could feel it when you play if it makes any sense.
the faq says your mouse driver /might/ add acceleration, so def well worth testing.
This is all dependent on mouse driver. Look up how to turn off mouse acceleration in windows if you have to. Sensitivity varies for the same result.
The concept is so weird. I guess the developer had a dream about it and that is how they came up with it. I had a dream once too, i had a huge prisoner steel ball attached to my leg on a chain. Then by swinging my leg i could give the ball momentum and make huge jumps using the momentum of the ball.

There's nothing more soul crushing than comparing one's own gameplay with that of speedrunners. The current world record is just shy of a minute and 45 seconds.

You should try N++ or Super Meat Boy for modern old school platforming with physics. Its very skill based.

After Mike loaded to look where it saved the progress, while he was playing, I realized this game is like real life. You climb up and up and up and no matter how many progress you make in life, you can fall down soooo quickly and easily and you have to start over again.
My body aches because of all the flinching... xD

To prevent carpeltunnel syndrome you just don't have to tense up. Its all that build up muscle tension that gives you the pain and strain of using a mouse for a long time.
As I understand it; there aren't checkpoints, AND it does save your progress. That's not a contradiction. It constantly saves at all times; you will always start exactly where you left off. He does say "even your mistakes". So it's not a checkpoint in that if you reach a certain place, you get to start from that place.
Good to know I made it a bit further before never playing this again. Once I reached that tiny vertical area you need to go straight up, I gave up. Bought it for the hype, breaking all my usual rules.
