Some advice for this game...The pocket knife gets used automatically when you are grabbed by Jason. No need to select the knife or hit x. Going into Jason's shack alerts Jason unless you are carrying Jason's mask (you can knock off the mask and pick it up). Its not very hard to kill Jason if you know what you are doing and get a good player as Tommy Jarvis.
Kane Hodder did the motion capture for Jason. The original directors, sound directors, and many various lead designers on the films came back to throw influence on this game. You should watch some Behind the Scenes videos to show how much attention to detail they really put into this game. It's astounding.
I hope they don't add AVGN as a character in the game, because he has nothing to do with the franchise, is a cringey nerd who can't play anything newer than old Nintendo games, and it would be fucking dumb.
Watching Mike teaching James how to play and James legitimately amazed by how fun the game is makes this episode of J&M feels like Mike is James' teenage son, trying to hook his dad with modern games.
Running and swimming in this game are the worst things you can do as a survivor. It basically broadcasts your location to Jason. If you look at the map you'll see white ripples coming off your map icon. That's your sound generation to Jason. You generally want to keep that as minimal as possible unless your playing as a strength-based character.
By the way runing will alert Jason. It shows a white circle on the radar that surrounds your arrow every time you run. Some characters can run without alerting Jason
This game is very similar to Dead by Daylight. Except instead of Jason you choose from a few different monsters with gimmicks like a hillbilly, an evil doctor ect. Same concept pretty much. You can get Michael Myers in that game too. Maybe an idea for a James and Mike on Halloween day??? :)
We used to play games like the one James was talking about. A really good one was taking unloaded pellet rifles with scopes on them, out in the forest where we lived. Having something of value up on the porch we needed to take, and there was a guard posted next to it operating a train headlight on a pole which basically acted as a rotatable spotlight. It was sort of like a metal gear solid sniper vs sniper game vs guard game. It was a total blast.

The map in the NES game isn't confusing. Think of it like this. The lake is always in the background, right? Imagine looking at the lake from a top down perspective and watching someone walk around it. That person starts at the "bottom" and goes right. They can go all the way around the lake by going right the whole time. However, at when they reach the "top" of the lake, from your perspective they'll appear to be going left. Simple as that.
This game is super fun, but I've had horrible luck with game hosts rage quitting really fuckin' early. Either because they didn't end up as Jason or they're being targeted pretty early by the person playing Jason. It sucks so much when you finally get to be Jason only for a spoiled sport, rage quitting jackass who happens to be the host of the game quits and ruins it for everybody.
I know how that feels. It may be tedious, but I just jump in and out of lobbies until I am given host. I know I won't quit, and I never do even if I die early on. I'd say it's worth a shot if you're constantly being thrown out of games due to the host quitting.
My favorite Friday the 13th movie was Part VI: Jason Lives so seeing Tommy show up in game is a nice bonus. You both had alot of fun thanks for sharing.

It's worth noting that: Jason also comes up red on the maps when he is shot by the flare gun (that will also stun him) and that each Jason (including the "NES game" and "Savini" Jason) has his own music theme that the counselors will hear when he is near. Bonus fact: One of his abilities is called Stalk and it will make the music go away so the counselors will have no way of detecting if he is there or not ;)
gotta say, that ability of Jason to teleport, is not to be interpreted so literally... Is just to give the campers the feeling that he could be anywhere, anytime, and also to give the game some more fluidity.
Today is my 35th Birthday! When I was a kid, whenever my birthday was on a Friday, I would always go to my local video store and rent the Friday the 13th films. Good times.
I loved the part where Tommy and that other girl was escaping Tommy looked like he was gonna shoot him, but the girl kicked Jason's ass instead. Then when it looked like she was in danger, he shot Jason to make him let her go before they hauled ass.
this game is fantastic. 10/10 for me. love the hide and seek atmosphere with the tasks to complete; keeps you busy. Jason really is a pain in the ass. Find myself on edge playing a counselor
You should also try Dead By Daylight, it is a fantastic game that captures "living in a horror movie" extremely well, primarily because it does the cat+mouse so well.
Until an XP-chaser shows up as the killer and says "f**k the point of the game" then gets 3/4ths of the group to farm for points and you either have to join in the nonsense, leave or be farmed, killing the entire experience either way.
I have had an urge to go back and play the Evil Dead game for the PS1 again. I remember liking it back when it came out. I wonder if it holds up. I have yet to play the sequel.
You know, this game has fantastic potential, but the one problem is that the developers...... let's just put it politely and say they're not the best. There's this group of people going round trolling and insulting players in the in-game chat, and then when they're told to back off, they threaten to ban the people and then the insulted find themselves banned. They're apparently close friends with the developers, which really makes me think that there's not going to be a good horror movie-based game coupled with good developers any time soon. You have to look after your fanbase if you're a developer of multiplayer games, or else you won't even have a community to play your game.

I have had an urge to go back and play the Evil Dead game for the PS1 again. I remember liking it back when it came out. I wonder if it holds up. I have yet to play the sequel.

This must be the most authentic, lovingly crafted and fun game based on a movie ever.
love this game it's probably one of my new favorites on the Xbox one besides the new DOOM and Wolfenstien.
James is like a kid in a candy store with this game lol.. Its great to see.. Glad he enjoys it!! :)
You know, this game has fantastic potential, but the one problem is that the developers...... let's just put it politely and say they're not the best. There's this group of people going round trolling and insulting players in the in-game chat, and then when they're told to back off, they threaten to ban the people and then the insulted find themselves banned. They're apparently close friends with the developers, which really makes me think that there's not going to be a good horror movie-based game coupled with good developers any time soon. You have to look after your fanbase if you're a developer of multiplayer games, or else you won't even have a community to play your game.
Little known fact, Kane Hodder did the motion capture, and they play "he's back" during the credit run for the movie feeling.
