I just wanted to say, I have been having an absolute nightmare of a time getting the temps on my Acer Predator under control and this may be the single greatest video I have ever seen to date. My CPU temps went from consistently hitting 90 C + on medium-high settings in Farcry 5 to now hitting a high of 60 C ( where my Cpu used to Idle) on Ultra settings hard locked to 72fps. I can't thank you enough for this video.

@@kristianinho79 I haven't. There were a few graphics artifacts at first because I lowered the voltage too much, but after you dial it in its great. Mine settled in at around -50 mV and -30mV for the integrated. Running AC Valhalla on high/ultra settings locked to 72fps with no crashes.

@@ScottyDGaming I'm so upset man I thought this would actually fix my 5i that I just got a few weeks ago, up until the last week everything was running absolutely stellar now I'm plagued with the most frustrating issue... At any point in a game my CPU will essentially flatline, completely crashing my fps / whole laptop, then randomly out of nowhere like 10-30 seconds later it goes right back up to 100 fps +
Shit makes absolutely no sense and customer support are idiots telling me to fully restore my laptop. I truly thought maybe undervolting it would fix it but I guess not, gonna have to sadly reset it and see but honestly I'm just gonna assume I got a shit one from the factory w a horrible thermal paste on it. It really sucks though cause I just got to Colombia to chill for a few months and I highly doubt they have any lenovo infrastructure here...

I swear it may have something to do with the latest BIOS update as well but it all blends in when I look back at everything. It confuses me because the amount of drops also seem to correlate w the different wall plugs I use. I went to a different Airbnb and had no issues the whole night. Very weird.

The resting temperature of my Tuf f15 2021 with i7 11800h was about 65 with normal tasks pushing it to 90-95, I was very worried but apparently that's how it normally is. But still, the amount of throttling meant boost clock never really sustained above 2800 something mhz.
I have successfully applied -70, -50, -30 (core, cache, graphics) mV using this tutorial, now my benchmarks scores increased almost 15-20%, my idle temp is 10-15 degrees lower.
Thank you so much for the guide.
Note: For anyone using the same series laptop and has their FIVR locked, flash the same BIOS you have again in EZFlash utility, it will unlock the controls. Don't know if it will work with other laptops.

My Throttlestop settings gave a 1426 XTU2.0 benchmark on my Hp Gaming 15-Cx with i5 8300H. This will get anyone a close start. Keep in mind temps will push in the 90’s under heavy load. I replaced thermal paste right away and recommend this be done it dropped 5c afterward.
    MAIN SCREEN:
    1. C1E unchecked
    2. BD Prochot unchecked
    3. C1E unchecked
    4. SPEED SHIFT EPP set between 0 and 40. Lower is higher performance.
    5. Speedstep unchecked
    FIVR SCREEN:
    1. Core and Cache iCCMax set to 110a.
    2. Core and Cache Offset voltage set to -123.0 mv.
    3. Min/Max cache ratio 35/37
    4. Sleep Defaults (cache/voltage) both boxes checked.
    5. Under miscellaneous uncheck all boxes.
    6. Core ratio leave alone.
    7. GPU and iGPU unslice offset voltage set to -30.3 mv and now lower than -39mv.
    TPL POWER CONTROLS:
    1. Make sure PL1 and PL2 are both checked and that Clamp is unchecked both boxes.
    2. PL1 should be 55w
    3. PL2 should be 110w
    4. Leave Turbo Time Limit to the stock setting.
    * If you’ve also used. XTU to set PL1 and PL2 the same then the settings will match in the Turbo Power Limits MSR and MMIO header on top.
    * Select Lock On upper header before deleting XTU app if you should decide to so these settings do not default.
    5. Next select the SYNC MMIO after verifying power control settings match.
*Another setting if you want to try it out is you may select PPO Power Limit, uncheck Clamp, type in 110 and move slider to 12. This can be set to your your own preference or left off.
    C10 Settings:
    1. Uncheck any demotion boxes and check all Undemotion boxes.
    2. Some prefer to shit down C states and this is done by selecting C-State-AC then check the OFF box and hit Apply. I’ve not had any success here and performance issues occurred when I did this so I leave my C state alone. What I did do is set all of my startups back to original factory in MsConfig and than removed any unwanted startups above and beyond that to minimize background tasks.
    Finally Options Settings:
    1. Make sure profile names are in proper order top being first and only use the profiles that you want.
    2. Under Default Priorities check Ax Profile and type in 1 since it is top in profile names.
    3. If you have a battery profile than check box and point to it. Usually it’s #3 and low battery percentage is 10.
    4. Under miscellaneous check your preferences.
    5. This one is important under Prochot Offset set this to 0 if you want to allow laptop to reach 99C or leave it alone.
    6. Set AC timer to 5 and PowerSaver C0% to 10.
    - These settings require a 150w ac power adapter or larger.
    - I also use Notebook Fan and because my Hp Gaming 15-Cx wasn’t under fan control had to find one that works.
    - I found that (HP Compaq 15 x103tx) works to control the left side CPU fan.

I am one of the MSI users.. I just thought I was doomed, BUT!
YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER! - however! I thermal throttled in all test, no matter what kind of undervoltage I did.. I went from being locked at 3200 mhz on all cores, to 3800 by undervolting 50/50/30 .. I repasted with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut, and went from throttling at 95 degrees, to by still undervolting 50/50/30, to be at approx 78 degrees (max 82 degrees) in the 960M test at hold your breath 4200 mhz! no more throttle.. Repasting did the job..
Thank you.. Your video inspired me to actually doing something about my problem.. My MSI GP66 11UG with 11800H is now running better than ever! :)

    • @vixN
      @vixN ปีที่แล้ว

Played around a bit more.. Im able to do 50/50/30 undervolt, powerlimit to PL1 70, PL2 85, limit time 28..
I hit idle temp at 40 degrees with fans doing 0 RPM..
I am yet to test my max temps while doing a heavy gaming session.. But having a laptop this powerful being able to idle with no fans spinning is impressive to be honest..

    • @vixN
      @vixN ปีที่แล้ว

Repasted once more (and cleaned the fans throughgly and removed all dust and hair) and went into downvolting in bios instead, and let the power limit be to default... So I dont have to worry about throttlestop running.. It was good to find the limits before though..
update is under heavy gaming I reach max temps on my GPU RTX3070 laptop at 75 degrees, and CPU peaks at 84 degrees and that is without turbo boost! - with turbo boost it is approx 55 on GPU and 68 on CPU under heavy load :)..
laptop is 1½ years old, and couldn't be more happy :)

Heads up: you can undervolt as much as you like depending on what your system can handle, it WILL NOT damage your system. I appreciate the video but the word "safe" is misleading. Extra voltage, outside of the chips design is what reduces lifespan. If it goes too high then you can have sudden chip death. You can blue screen a million times and the chip will be fine, it'll just be unstable so undervolt as much as you can with your system being stable and enjoy :)

Idk what to do, and am exhausted from looking for tutorials!
I changed to ThrottleStop bc it had the windows defender boost and the icons in tray are really nice!
But I need a way to enable it. I looked all over BIOS through guides bc I did in fact reset windows (not fully tho).

On regular load the cpu temps are around 56 to 60 degrees celsius and I have to limit my FPS to 60 in games such as FFXIV to avoid the laptop thermal throtteling. @Alibi Yes i have found a solution. I repasted my laptop with better cooling paste. On top of that i used Throttlestop and didn't undervolt. Instead I used the following options: Speed Shift - EPP, BD PROCHOT, Speedstep and C1E. This kept my temps below 80 degrees. Oh and do not forget a proper cooling plate.
