I wish real life physics could be like ksp physics. Like imagine having to go on a business trip to Warsaw. You get on your supersonic ladder catapult or mass relay fling yourself through the air a few times and voila; 2.3 seconds later you're there
Paraphrasing Randall Munroe: "If you're close enough to the Sun that you can feel the effects of its atmosphere, then you have much, much bigger problems."
Technically, RE-rentry would require you to have left that atmosphere to begin with, but, yes, the sun has an atmosphere, therefore atmospheric entry is possible. Upper and lower atmospheres for science too. Have fun with the heat though.
Skyhook. The capturing part is tricky tho, it's going to be very hard to do manually. Since you are incoming at orbital speeds and have to match position accurate down to a few centimetres, and only have a few millisecond windows...
unfortunately it's similar to Jool in that there's a point at which ship parts are just deleted (-250m afaik), there's no actual surface and just a kill plane
@@blockmath_2048 I used heat shields and radiators stacked together in excess. Might try out fairings as well next time. The issues is that once the heat shields reach their limit, everything falls apart.
Yeah, if you check the game data, the sun actually has an "atmosphere!" Wild, isn't it? According to my notes, you enter Kerbol's upper atmosphere at 600 km altitude. It has a "flying low" height of just 18 km. You actually broke that boundary here, apparently. Nice flying! As a side note, its low orbit boundary is 1 Gm; Moho's semimajor axis is about 5 Gm.
4:42 Kerbol does _technically_ have an atmosphere. Granted, it's not everyday you get to see it, since nearly all ships burn up before you can get even close to 600km from the sun, which is it's furthest radius.
what you've done is essentially create a syhook. an actual NASA concept for launching objects into higher orbits using very little fuel. get a craft into orbit, rendevous with the skyhook, and use the thing to literally YEET the ship onto a transorbital trajectory.
this channel is essentially Danny creating MEGA drives.... and yes, a MEGA drive is a thing that exists in the realm of propulsion (at least.... theoretically, the tests aren't going so well so far)
I see potential for an interplanetary Kerbal return system. Trapped in Eeloo orbit? No problem! Just *S P I N* and you'll come flying right back home! Parachutes not included.
Make an SSTO, but instead of giving kerbals a proper storage instead they are just piled into the mark 3 cargo hold. Much more efficient kerbal density than those “crew capsules”
When you move the arrows, does it keep it still relative to the craft, or relative to its original position? If it's relative to the craft, could you in theory launch the craft to insane speeds, then launch a kerbal at significantly higher speeds?
@@Calbjrd Thanks I will now fix it. I still dont think a tether coming through the atmsphere at Mach 10 is able to carefully pick something off the ground and throw it into space.
