Yes, please to “The Books That Made Me” video. I'd like to know the books that influenced you.
I enjoyed the unedited Simon although at one point I said, “Take a breath, Simon.”😆
Hahaha. I often have to say that to myself when filming videos, in fact I’m sure it’s been in a zoomed in moment or two in the past.
I absolutely love the idea of the books that made me.
I was going to do it for World Book Day, might do it for my birthday instead 😉
The books that made me, ohhh yes pleeease! 😊
I’ll see what I can do!
Omg feeling like some of the eligible women’s prize books were hauled here because they are not on the actual long list 😮
Sneaky sneaky
What does everyone think?
Hahaha. Or am I double bluffing? Or is this comment a double bluff? I said I didn’t mention the books in the box… but I might have already got books on the shelves in the library, in this incoming selection or on the shelves downstairs that could be in that box too?!? I’ve signed an NDA so am saying no more until tomorrow after 6pm lol.
@@SavidgeReads lol! I can’t freaking wait!!
That jacket is smashing! (and you are never boring.)
Oh I can be super boring. Hahaha. Very much aware of my flaws and realistic about them 😉
I would love a video about the books that made you! Also, very intrigued by Hard Copy - I hadn’t heard of it before.
That cover of Hard Copy makes me giggle every time I see it.
Loving the jacket! Yes please on the books that made me video. It’s always interesting to see what books have shaped a person and a bit of nostalgia along with it. 😊 hope you enjoyed dinner and intrigued about you going on the the run!!
Oooh my ‘going on the run’ will be revealed on Tuesday. Along with some other exciting projects. I’m going to do the Books That Shaped me for my birthday I think.
Happy Anniversary, Simon and Chris! 🎉💜
Thanks!
Hi Simon, Hard Copy by Fien Veldman is translated from the Dutch. It's original title is 'Xerox' and I absolutely loved the book. It's so quirky, but also deals with a lot of important questions. Hope you enjoy it!
Oooh you’ve made me all the more excited for it. Thank you!
Ooh love your jacket! I have just read Cecily and loved it, I was gripped by first and last third but did find the middle section a bit slow 👍
This overshirt has had some serious love. I know what I’m wearing for the Nero’s this week now. Ha.
So, so many intriguing ones! And the unedited version is just a treat imo. But as I've said before, any video you post is time well spent to me. Oooh, all the teasing, I can't bear the wait! (Kidding, I love it).
-Also just want to wish you and Chris a very happy anniversary !! 🥳 I hope your day was extra special and the meal just that bit more delicious.
It was a super chilled day. Just pottered about and then had lovely grub. Nothing too wild. Ha. Glad you enjoyed the video, sorry for the teasers. Hahaha.
🙋♀️ Count me in as well for “📚 that made me”!! I always get a chuckle out of the zooming in and out. But coming from the other side of the pond, thoroughly enjoy when you simply say things like “daft” and “chuffed” etc. 😂😁
Ha. All my colloquialism’s coming out. Ha.
another "YES! Please!!!" for 'The Books That Made Me' video!
Okey doke!
OOOH, I cannot WAIT to see what you think of Covenant of Water. I love Dr. Verghese's books, but Covenant is definitely NEXT LEVEL. I hope you enjoy it so much that you make a separate video review. Happy reading! :)
Hahaha we shall see. I’ll probably head to it post Women’s Prize season.
So much envy from your owning the new Chevalier, Perry and Wood. Three of my most anticipated novels of the year. Erasure is well worth reading. Would love to see the Persephone room! You look quite dashing in that jacket I must say! Not boring at all, even without the black and whites and zooms. Counting down to the WP unboxing!!! Can’t wait!!
Not too long to go. And there’s Canada Reads in the interim, which I completely forgot to tell everyone to watch this week. This shirt has had soooo many compliments. Maybe it’s my new look!
I’m so jealous of your copies of Salt Blood and Dead Animals - they are some of my must reads for this year
Oops. Sorry. Not too long to wait for them though!
Just finished 'I who have never known men', so thanks for recommendation!
It’s sooooooooooo good.
I'd like to see an Erasure/book adaptations video. I want to read the book and watch American Fiction. I agree with a lot of the barbs in the trailer. Will you be reading Everett's James?
I may read James, it’s oddly not massively on my periphery. Erasure is possibly because of the trailer for the film. I liked The Trees, with a few caveats, it made me think I would like to read more of his books if they crossed my path… but I wouldn’t rush to a new one.
Happy Anniversary to you and Chris!
Thank you!!
The Lagos wife is fantastic. I loved learning about the life of the rich in Lagos and of course it was also gripping . I am sure you will enjoy it
That’s definitely going in the rucksack then!
Omg you got the glassmaker!!!! So exciting!
Can’t wait. Mum nearly stole it off me when she came to visit, she’s as excited as I am for it.
Love the jacket x
It’s got a lot of love this over shirt. I will have to get the others out!
I loved the covenant of water-I’ve never read a Chunkster so quickly;)
Ooooh that’s a very good sign.
“I have a big chunkster in my hand.”🤣
Don’t be filthy 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You should do a video on books that made you. I'm very interested in this.
Okey doke. I’ll see what I can do.
Mongrel is so good
I’m really looking forward to it!
I have had Cleo and Frankenstein on my TBR for ages. I will try and get to it this monthxx
It’s really, really good. I had so misjudged it. Shame on me.
You look great in your jacket.
Awww thanks, it’s actually just a very thick over shirt, I’ve a few of them. I should wear them more often it seems.
Great haul I’m spending far to much on books just brought 2 more 😂 xx
Whoops!
I have to wait until September for the new Tracy Chevalier ☹️ I am sure it will be worth the wait!
I am sure it will be.
I think I’m being thick 🙄 when I’ve linked onto your wishlist I see the books via Amazon, but then how do I get a purchase delivered to you ?!
I think once you ‘buy’ it will automatically do it for you without sharing my secret HQ address. Hahaha.
It worked !! (d’oh - me 😜)
PS - nice jacket 👍 happy anniversary 🥂 & yay re the WP fiction longlist announcement later today 🤗📚 x
@@janepeacock3704awwww thanks that’s very kind of you.
My pleasure 😘
I would love a world book day books that made me video please! 🙏
I think that’s the one I am going to make next 😉
I liked Erasure much more on audio.
Oooh interesting. I can’t really do fiction on audio, I lose my concentration too quickly. Fine with non fiction. Bizarre.
Mr Jones is still 🙉 after my scream " Simon's wearing a jacket 🧥!!!". Had to click to 👀, to find out why (although I'm cutting up onions for supper 🔪🧅)....but you tease, you've not said why...yet... Fab look on you 😍.... will finish watching later and see if all is revealed...oooeer🤭
There’s teases for many things in this video… but I’m not wearing a jacket, it’s just a shirt, just for a dinner out. Nothing too exciting. Blimey I thought I wore shirts quite a lot 🤣🤣🤣
Read Silas Marner before you read the Gabrielle Zevin book!
Really? I’ve less than zero desire to do that, hahaha. Is it a must? I am not a big fan of the classics, unless they’re sensation novels from the Victorian era.
@SavidgeReads Well, it's not an absolute must; you'll still enjoy it. It's an homage to Silas Marner, so you'll be missing out on that bit. If you have no interest in SM, definitely skip it!
Fien Veldman, sounds Dutch to me.
Apparently it is indeed.
I'd love to know what books you've read through the years, from childhood .
I’m compiling them 😉
Yes please to the Books that made me video!
I shall try and film it over the next few days!
mildly apocalyptic!
?!!?
You said it early on about the sun 50 seconds in. Thought it was an interesting juxtaposition of words!@@SavidgeReads
Uh Mona of the Manor
Is that a good uh or a bad uh - no spoilers though please.
@@SavidgeReads hehe good uh 😁
