    If this video was interesting to you, or you're curious about what a Stanford transcript and GPA looks like, check out this video where I go into detail about my Computer Science degree! th-cam.com/video/j_O_C2uuTjA/w-d-xo.html

    Can you make a video on what computer science really is ?
    I mean a detail video about CS and studies in it.

    Hey, nice video. Do you think CS is worth it for someone who already has a lot of experience with coding? Is there a lot of Computer Engineering classes at Stanford CS?

    Hi! sorry if for this super late question. I'm a secondary 4 IGCSE student, I think that's equivalent to a freshman in highschool in the US. I have started studying computer science in school, starting with theory and I'm coding with Python. I'm really interested in taking a computer science path for university, but I'm really lost. Am I starting on the right path and what should I do to be able to reach to a level to that of people or graduates like you amongst that stature? Thank you! Great video, thank you!

    hi sorry I’m late to this but If I have no experience in computer science, and I’m not 100% motivated to computer science, should I rethink my decision of applying to computer science? Coding seemed hard so I’m not quite sure what to do. Great video btw!

      Sorry for the late response, but if you're at all interested in it, I would recommend researching the schools you plan on applying to and check if it's harder to get into their CS (computer science) programs than it is to get into other majors. If your intended major doesn't impact your chance of getting into those schools, I would just apply as a CS major and give it a shot! If it would possibly lower your chances, I would maybe rethink whether you really want to study CS or prioritize getting into a specific school. Thanks for watching!

    Hi. Quick question. Is the stuff taught in CS107 important to becoming a coder ? Or is it mainly “behind the scenes” memory stuff that doesn’t really matter for every day programming ? Is 107 really needed for 108, or later for AI ?

    • @PabloSantos16

      The actual material about how things like pointers and lower level memory isn’t ‘needed’ for AI and 108, but it is needed for 110 which is mandatory for the Stanford CS core. Even though 107 material might not be needed for AI and 108, the practice that you get coding for ~100 hours over the course of the class is extremely valuable when taking future classes. The practice teaches your brain how to digest code based and look for bugs in a way that you can only get from coding tough projects like the ones in 107. Thanks for watching by the way!

      Pablo Santos thanks ! My daughter is a pre-med bioE major at Stanford so she doesn’t have a lot of free electives. She doesn’t care about having an official CS minor or even having the CS classes show up in her transcript. She is doing it just to get a solid CS foundation in case she needs it someday. She took 106b and is now auditing 107 (and doing the homework). What is the best path forward. If she has time for 2-3 more classes beyond 107? She just wants to be able to handle some CS/programming in the future if it’s needed in her career. She doesn’t need to be an expert in how computers store memory but rather maximize her coding abilities with fewest classes. What do you think she should take next ? 108, 110, 161 ? Or even go straight to higher level/more practical stuff ? Thanks again.

      @@nusaman No, not at all needed. I have done both, and while cs107 will help with "coding maturity," it will not directly prep you for cs 108.

      @@jasonspyres2710 thanks. My daughter ended up taking 107. Now she is debating about 110 or 108. She handled the low level stuff fine but since she is not going for a CS major but rather just wants a good CS foundation in case she needs to code in the future what do you advise she takes next ? She was considering 108 because it looks like a good java course that may end up more useful than 110. Any other ideas? (She is a bioE pre-med so she might never code but if things change she wants to have a decent CS foundation).

      @@nusaman 108 will give good practical coding in java and Android studio, while 110 will focus on low level, systems stuff, that honestly, for just software coding will not be as beneficial as 108. Still good stuff to know as far as Computer science goes, but it just depends on your goals

    why did you choose stanford?

    • @PabloSantos16
      @PabloSantos16  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I chose it largely because I grew up in Souther California, and I knew that I didn't want to go to college too far from home like in the East Coast. The level fo academics + great weather and environment is in my opinion amazing and rivaled only by Berkeley and UCLA!
