Awsome and an eye opener..Yasir Quadi always motivates the audience with his insightful lectures..Watch all his Videos and see for yourself what you can contribute to this Umma..Jazakallah...
What an inspiring and emotional talk. Everything he talks about happens in my community and everything he talks about happens specifically in my family. So sad *Sigh*...
Loved it all. Very nice lecture. Except near the end of the lecture when he didnt mention how prophet Muhammad PBUH loved his children and how great Father he was and how great his children were. That part of the lecture was without any Islamic references. Just emotional cultural references. Example is that he said we should get married, he got married in 21 but he didnt say that we are taught in islam that we should get married as soon as we come of age. I wonder why not.
Not sure why, but my guess is to make sure it's not used and misused without consent. I've seen many great lectures reduced into a sound-byte out of context somewhere often to misinform and attack Islam and Muslims. So, I'm personally all for using the law to be in control of your own word so that it is not distorted and used against you. That's just one reason, my guess, but I have no idea if that's indeed ICNA's reason :)
marriage can be done by people with requirement : mature, be able feed his wife from halal money/food(your salary have an adequate amount to feed your wife)
technology predates modernity, and muslims did well embracing the former but yasir qadhi should have talked about the role of colonization and its impacts on muslim minds in misreading modernity with imperialism. he should have quoted muhammad asad, iqbal, nursi, abdou and a host of other 19th century intellectuals and their progressive models of modernity that is not in conflict with islam without going into the invention of paper. i think he qadhi went off-ball in this.
