Paid $900 to replace this thing, it was that day and this repair that inspired me to start doing my own! So far I’ve done oil, brakes, and I’m getting into suspension work now. Idk if I’m ready for engine yet, but I’m gonna keep on learning :) thank you for helping us common folk out! We really appreciate it ❤
@@thebayjay You're welcome! I wish you the best in your diy journey 🙂. One recommendation is to get a good torque wrench. The most common issue with fasteners is over tightening. My torque wrench is among the most used tools I have 👍
I just had mine delivered today, about to change this out. This issue should have been a recall for sure.. Such a scam from Kia to have this part fail on so many vehicles.
@@kimberlyfobbs2873 Good question. The control motor is replaceable. But the common issue with these is a broken runner. In that case you'll need the whole manifold.
6 months ago I had the injectors changed as well as the plugs after having had a misfire cyl 6. a few days later my check engine came on it was only then that I decided to buy an ODB scan tool the error that came out P200A is it possible that the mechanic when changing the injectors located under the manyfold that he could have damaged something? I wanted to thank you for your clear and concise training. I'm not a mechanic but at 50 I find the way you explain everything motivating.
I don't think it was something they did. These are known for intake runner failures. It's a bummer that it happened after they were in there because it would have been easy for them to change it then. You might be able to make a deal with them for a lower repair cost and see what they say.
correction rechecked my readings, removed the actuator. and manually moved the intake manifold runner lever. the sensor readings went from 4.2 volts to 1.4. The actuator motor is moving as well. Any thoughts
@@richardgilroy1132 Great! Then the sensor is good 👍. Are you able to actuate the motor and see the runner by the sensor move? If the motor works and the sensor is good then it's most likely a bad runner. That's the most common failure on these. There is also a runner actuator reset procedure that can be done with a compatible scan tool.
@@JCGible Im doing this now and motor should NOT move freely. Once the arm is attached and its ibolted on the flaps will be locked until the car tells it to open/close. Sounds like yours is fine. Im more worried about my position sensor as it looks like it took a beating. I was able to align it back in but seemed like some of the rubber had worn off. Hopefully it picks up the movement.
I have a 2012 Santa Fe with a 3.5 liter and a P200A code. I have removed the upper intake manifold and the valve / flaps are all connected and moving together. Would I get the same P200A code if the bank 1 position sensor was bad? I have tried to test it I have a good 5 v supply voltage and a good ground. but nothing in the return signal. I don't have any resistance between any of the 3 pins on the connector they are all open. what is the proper resistance or voltage on the signal wire to the computer?
@@richardgilroy1132 If the runner and motor are working properly then it could be the position sensor. I don't have an ohm spec but the manual says the green wire is a 0-5v position signal that can be measured with a DVOM. Operate the runner and see if the signal voltage changes as the runner moves. If not then the sensor is bad. When you remove the sensor confirm the peg that moves the sensor is actually moving with the runner as well. Hopefully that helps 👍

Congrats. Once you get into the manifold a couple times it becomes routine. You're going to save thousands.
Excellent video, great detail thank you
Thank you for this detail and helpful info. Excellent video.
Do you know if its the whole assembly that needs to be replaced for this modal? Or can i just replace the manifold runner control motor?

What is that box that is attached to the position sensor @ 12.47
@@JCGible That is the actuator motor 👍
@ValleyMobileAutomotive im hoping that you can't move it manually because mine won't move. I reinstalled it. Hope it works. Thank for the reply

@@JCGible I don't think so. That's why I had to unbolt it to position the sensor.

Great job, I don't have the tools or know how, how much would this cost to fix

What problems were you having to make you replace the lower intake manifold? Bad intake runner actuator or broken runners?
It had a code for the intake runner. It's pretty common in this generation Kia and Hyundai.
but why lol oil leak or somthing ?
Awesome job 👏 👍 I have one to install just trying to get tip
I believe book time is between 3 and 4 hours so you should be good doing it over the weekend 👍
Great job, I don't have the tools or know how, how much does a job like this cost?
That is the problem with the P200A. Greetings and blessings.
