      @@Pokepunk The developers lied to the POE player base, stating Ruthless was just a side project taking up minimal dev time. It turns out, Ruthless was POE2. Don't trust developers that don't even play their own games.

    For newbies that may get scared by 'reset' - new leagues in poe are basically separate servers, with some kind of new mechanic added, that later gets added to the standard/persistent server (or scrapped). You just create a new character, everyone starts from zero, nothing in stash etc. Old characters will still be available to play. We have no idea if in early access they will block the new content from standard server tho, its possible you can still play your old char with all the new content coming with big patches

      Don't remember where, but they have said that Early Access server will be separated from Standard.

      Oh wow, that's really reassuring, thank you! I was expecting it to be like Diablo, and those style resets where it all feels wasted just annoy me. If your OG toons persist and your progress carries over in *some* way.
      No worries if it's not completely integrated in EA though. Even if I don't like it, I really feel like I got my money's worth already. I'm curious to see how it goes!

    Example from t15s : use a regal or alchemy to make it rare, throw an exalt or two to the map to max it out, use a vaal orb on it, use it on a boss node with irradiated -> profit I get like 5 t15 maps in return for something like this and that's without the other lower maps that drop. Spend one get five. That's like absolutely insane sustain. This makes drops in general great. You get back way more than what you spent.
    PS: You can also annoint maps btw, with distilled stuff from delirium. Its crazy how much they can be juiced. Omens are for deterministic crafting. Its good they increase the chances.

    I love GGG. They are so transparent and straight forward. They don't shy away from any questions and have no problem saying they don't have all the answers to every question or that the game isn't perfect and needs work. Most game devs do not have the confidence in their game or abilities to do this.

    When it comes to end game objectives I think what they were saying is they would like to have introductory quests for league mechanics, not really like d4 seasons journey at all. PoE 1 leagues did have challenges for each league that could award cosmetics for ticking boxes but often it was tied to stuff you would wanna do anyway and have many options to cater your experience.

      I like the idea of a initial structured endgame to introduce each map type, some of us were clueless and had to google it. After that it should be a free for all.

      yes, just like PoE1 with conqueror influences, void stones, shaper/elder influence, eater of worlds/searing exarch quest boss, maven invitations, etc, although all of those start pretty late into mapping
      the thing is that the PoE1 atlas is more intuitive because it focuses in "completion", clearing maps unlocks different maps that are tied together and you can clearly see how many you have completed and how many remain

    Most that do not sustain maps do not know that 3 maps of the same tier can be reforged into a map of a higher tier, so I always have a tab where I chuck in all map tier 10+ into and then turn them into a few extra tier 15's

    Having the stakes of dying isn't bad if it's just failure of the map, people don't like the fact that you lose HOURS of XP on top of that

    Do not worry about further quests. They exist in POE1, just to provide some guidance for people who are new. But the quests itself do not provide any power. I know that you replied to me earlier that you have to do this for points on the atlas, but this is only for the league atlas, not the general atlas. If you do not want a league mechanic, then you just do not do that.
    An example, there is no quest to kill the breach boss right now, but you get 2 breach atlas points for killing it. So, how do you know what to do? Instead, they will give a quest to do a breach, or a few, until you have killed it and get that first point(s) for the breach atlas. From then on you know how to get more.

    the best way to handle Map Quests imho is to do something similar of Secondary Objectives in MHRise, randomly generated quests that gives you small rewards but push you into doing something that you’d normally wouldn’t do

    Im new to POE. Havent played POE 1 and that's a shame and Im loving POE 2. What impressed me most on the interview is when the devs owned up, no BS excuse about the the hacked accounts. Im seeing myself playing this game for years.

    Regarding GGG adding Altas objectives for when you're mapping.
    I've played PoE1, made it to the end of mapping in that game a few times. In this game, I ran out of waystones because of the objectives that Doryani gives you. In PoE1 there was always a way to sustain your maps if you full cleared the map you were in. It was practically guaranteed.
    So I proritized getting Atlas points and progressing the quest, trying to get to T15 ASAP. This meant avoiding boss nodes because they were risky, using high tier waystones on towers because they were a free clear. Not to mention I play Warrior so it wasn't pretty by the time I got to T10ish maps. I chose to not watch any spoiler or meta content until I finished T16 maps, which I did do eventually. Sustain is still a problem but I suspect it's a class issue more than anything else at the moment.
    For context I played a two handed, dual wielding, high attack speed mace strike build. So proper melee with boneshatter to help with clear. I mean GGG told me they fixed melee, I wanted to see what they did. I can say that I haven't been impressed at all with Warrior.
    If their new mapping questline saves people from falling into the same pitfalls I did and guides them towards the appropriate strategy for sustaining waystones, I think it should be implemented.

      i had no problem with map sustain , then i got to t8-9 and they just dont drop , instead i get t1-3 waystones and t7 like wtf , how

      The most important aspect of sustaining is using the best rare maps with high chances of waystones, on boss nodes and nowhere else. You can find this info in literally any content creator videos and it works. That's all you will ever need. If its too risky it simply means you need to do something about resistances and improving the character's gear. Trade site exists so this is a no-issue. Sustaining was insanely easy for me, ended up with way more maps then I will ever need.
      Warrior right now is by far the worst experience, so salute for playing the game on hardcore mode.

      ​@@kobarsos82 I don't disagree with you and I've seen all those videos, including the one Lily made that Ruri watched. I've been tweaking my build slowly through the trade site. I've played PoE1 before, I'm not new to hitting this type of wall with regards to player power.
      The issue is that waystones are pretty feast or famine at the moment, especially when you get to the point that you're corrupting them. Especially if you're running a sub-optimal, middling build like mine.
      I've got friends that are playing Ice Strike Monk and Spark Archmage etc. who are sustaining their maps just fine. By the time they got to T15s, they had so many waystones they needed more stash space. Good for them. But for players like me that are struggling, they need something like Kirac's maps or Atlas missions. Doryani's inventory just doesn't cut it.
      On a side note, because of how hit mitigation on armour works, it's hard to tell if a build is even good enough to push T16 when you're farming back up on T13/14 anyway. You blow everything up and you take no damage. Then you step into T16 and a white mob tears off your face. :\
      It's part of why I can't wait to see what Ruri has to say when he hits the higher tiers of maps.

    They specifically said the tutorialization of endgame is meant for the players who have absolutely no clue what to do. It could lower the amount of paralysis by analysis when people get there and can give them the nudge they need to get moving.

    I'm pretty sure they were talking about adding a "quest" to take you through maps similar to searing exarch or eater of worlds from POE1. They are good. They aren't going to force you into doing league content. They are essentially encounters that show up on your maps eventually taking you to "baby's first pinnacle boss" to introduce you to bossing.

    On the point about Warrior early game, I've actually been leveling from the start of the game using rolling slam. I agree, that first time on warrior, I definitely used default attacks more but that's mainly because I wasn't too familiar with the attack patterns of bosses. After dying to Forgemaster, I releveled a new Warrior and I used rolling slam way more that time around. Maybe that patch that buffed rolling slam's second slam was what made it better, but I really think it's just knowing the timing of when to rolling slam as well as knowing which attacks you can just tank through.

    Rarity isn't a big of a deal because its very easy to slot it in somewhere, and it helps you print currency. It also tapers off after ~100%

    once i got to tier 15 maps, waystone sustain for me is great, most of the passive on my atlas map is for waystone drops

      Its literally a non-issue. I think i ran out only once around t5 or t6 or something, bought 2 rare ones from the trade site. never had to do it again. Just this once. Its fine honestly. Now sustain is insane will never need it again.

    New league for POE1 is in Feb, so they won't do anything big for POE2 then. Additionally economy resets can't occur unless a new league comes out, which is always with big additions. They made it seem like after this patch they are going to be working lighting fast on getting something huge out and it shouldn't be too long. So since POE1 league is Feb, we can guess the POE2 league will probably be late March or sometime in April.

    I can give you a little help with your waystone problem, use your val orbs on yellow maps, corrupt them. There can be interesting results. The can level up a tier, the can downgrade, they can change all the parameters, but mostly, they can push the waystone drop rate at the top to 300 and 400 % at times. I sell my waystones because I have too many, and a yellow stone is usually 8 to 10k gold. Praise Chaos !!! 😅

    I respec the atlas when I was struggling with map sustain and now I have to many maps lol just have to pick all the nodes with increased waystones. I still got to pick other nodes on top of that

    i was a getting annoyed for the warrior section of the Q & A where they basically said yeah warrior is the worst class in damage, clear, defence and QOL but we are gonna do some minor armor buffs and it will be (and this is a direct quote) "much better to play" - like come on guys armor is a problem but not even the highest on the list, min action speed on slams is awful to play and armor break on mobs is dogshit and super common
    but besides that it was all good for me, i appreciated the transparency and not dodging of questions but as someone who wants to play warrior but feels like im being left behind just for playing it i just wish i felt like i was on even footing

      oh and i just remembered they said "you have bad map sustain cause you die" when i haven't died in days but im still forced to run multiple tier 13-14 maps per 1-2 15 that drops and i run alch and vaal'd 15 maps AND im fully specced into waystone drops

Why they don't wanna budge on warrior is a complete mystery to me, and quite frankly insane. They must be totally blind if they can't see warrior is literally the only class playing a completely different game.
      It's fine if they want the game to be that slow. What's not fine is that warrior is LITERALLY THE ONLY ONE that is slow like that. Everyone else is ripping through the game like it's nascar while warrior is still charging his perfect strike in a1.

      But thats not what they said. They admitted it had the worst balance, argued a bit about why it didn't scale, admitted it need to change. They said it would need to be raised up (Mace skills) more than any other skill. They also said it would need less to fix then people think. But that doesn't mean they won't fix it. It means they think tweaks to damage and armour will be enough. But they also said over and over if it's objectively bad then it needs to be better and will be looked at. As for armour they discussed the 15% increase already coming, a chance to scavenged plating to make it align better to the two skills that just worked. They talked about how white mob damage is too often high causing it to count as a big hit for armour and the need to adjust that and they briefly mentioned a bug in the new numbers in this system that they would fix compared to. I rewatched it twice after hearing people say they thought they didt want to change warrior. When DM said that warrior had the worse ehp, attack scaling and defence type the quote from Johnathan was basically "Thats brutal, but I can't deny its true." Like that is open acknowledgement that change is required.
      The only thing close to that was mentioning that top end for warrior was high, and that they thought it felt good in the campaign. But again said if it is bad it will be looked at.

    First 11 mins of the vid, I'm just nodding along while working... then "WE'RE GOING TO BE ABLE TO OVERWRITE RUNES!!" and I may have scared my god with the cheer I let out! I honestly feel like a lot of the "it's too hard" stuff is players trying to faceroll classes and specs that are still under construction, while expecting to be able to zerg run when you're clearly not supposed to be zerging. I'm normally TERRIBLE at action combat but this game just feels so natural for me, I love it. The worst boss for me was the titan with the platform, and as soon as I figured out how his mechanics worked I even found him incredibly easy.
    The runes though?? Gods I'm glad for that change. It made no sense to me to have them locked once they are used. It was just a weird choice.
    Ugh I love this game so much. I'm not playing it often, but when I do I lose HOURS in the game. It's grabbed me like no other game has in ages.

    I have a great comprise for the whole 1 death for maps thing… After death, despawn all the mobs but let us re enter to pick up anything that was left on the ground. Exp can either stay or go, makes no difference to me but for fuk sakes… let us re enter and pick up our loot GGG!!!

    Would the exp loss not counter the self destructive zero defense glass cannon method anyways?
    You'd never make progress towards a new level if you kept getting one shot because you tried to glass cannon brute force a map with respawns.
    Losing exp on a death I'm ok with as we need some stick to encourage making an effort o survive.
    But losing exp, My map, waystone, Regal/Exalted Orbs used to make the waystone and all the loot i hadn't yet picked up is a bit excessive.
    Given how easy it is to be one shot despite a full defensive investment (Unless you abuse ES stacking) it just de-motivates me to continute after losing the progress towards a new level on top of losing all the resources spent to open that map.
    Especially as i'm not particularly lucky with currency drops and i don't trade. (In the last 11 maps i have acquired zero ExOrbs and presently have ... zero ExOrbs and 4 Regals in the bank)
    Just put in a stacking penalty to drop rarity, exp payouts per kill etc, something to discourage purposeful respawning. Just don't punch me in the face for dying and then kick me in the nuts for having the audacity to have been one shot from an offscreen rare mob.

    While I won't say I *like* only have one life per Map, if all these changes to ground clutter, elemental bursts, and off-screen one-shots pan out the way they should, then Maps will be *far* less lethal - especially in lower Tiers - and it will hopefully be, at worst, a minor annoyance.
    For me personally, playing SSF and having never looked at anything other than a "here's some tips for what Support Gems to use where" video in terms of my homebrew build, having a "cushion" of an extra life/portal or two per map would be ideal, but if it stays at one portal with fewer BS deaths I think I can deal with that.

    Towers have relatively few enemies, so I do them with low tier maps that rolled with damage.

    You can be using rolling slams and other moves, also two handed hammer is stronger. Focus on stunning enemies and doing slams.

    If you're getting low on waystones focus on bosses. Bosses drop at least 3 waystones before being juiced.

    The one thing I am struggling with the most is the punishment after a death, I’m cool with losing the map and whatever comes with that but I flatly refuse to think that I should have hard earned xp taken off me and my ability to improve and grow stronger extremely stunted is a good thing
    The majority of the time yes, an be a skill issue but a lot of times it’s for BS that they themselves have said needs improvement
    Together with a lack of maps, progression feels impossible
    I am one of those players that can’t put tonnes of hours into the game, having the little time I can get get removed by the end of my time playing just puts a serious empty feeling of going nowhere and makes it hard to want to continue

    Freaking love GGG and all the interviews and talks with them!
    I love the acts, but kinda dislike how the gameplay becomes more like PoE 1 during the maps.
    Personally I hope the game becomes harder overall, death penalty absolutely shouldn't be taken away in the current state of the game for sure.
    I prefer to be challenged and properly rewarded for overcoming that challenge.
    I still love the game and can't wait to see what changes and new content we get!

    General people, normal people don't like playing hardcore and don't want to feel stressed more on the 10% of XP the map is not that big deal. Glass cannon is fun also the defenses don't work you have to play energy shield :(

      5% xp per death and 1 death allowed per map, is in my opinion a great middle solution. Will they ever do it though? no clue.

    Had a couple exalt in act 1 with 20% rarity, none in act 2&3 with 0% rarity, i am at the end of act 2 cruel 70% rarity and i have way more exalt, vaal, chaos orbs now so yes rarity matters

    ☠️ on maps is very punishing, but as the devs said ☠️ to some BS ground effects / corpse explosion you didn't see / know cause some of them just weren't visible or the rare with the modifiers was already ☠️ is some BS, at that point I don't think the punishment is fair but they said they are addressing it.

    New to PoE. Never played Elden Ring. Tried Dark Souls and hated it. All of that is to say I am not a glutton for punishment. Yet, I find myself loving the risks involved in endgame. I think the changes to pinnacle bosses are necessary, given the relative rarity of encountering these events; but otherwise the potential penalties of eating dirt in endgame hangs a Sword of Damocles above my head in a way that causes me to pause and re-evaluate my build, my gear, and my approach to situations. Ultimately, this makes my experience better and more engaging as I'm constantly nudging toward improvements as a player and to my character as a means of offsetting potential heartbreak. I also enjoy the Ascendancy trials, although those do need some tuning as there is a difference between grueling and gruesome. In other words, "removes all energy shield" is *not* a 'minor' affliction 🤣
    I should note that it probably helps that I have a relaxing fallback in playing a lot of Farming Simulator 22 or 25- those games aren't just low stakes, they're no stakes. I can always take my angst out on virtual rows of corn and the worst I'll have to worry about is zoning off and driving the tractor into a ditch.
    EDIT:
    As for magic find, I've seen enough data to convince me that it's probably not as big of an issue as many in the community are making it out to be. I suspect what's going on is a compounding effect from MF, waystone sustain, map juicing, and proper Atlas tree speccing. The thing is that (at least) these four areas feed into loot acquisition in such a way that any deficiencies in one or more of these areas will erode a player's loot prospects while capping out on these four areas maximizes a player's loot prospects. Other factors, entirely unrelated to MF, are also clouding MF's impact on the broader economic situation. First, Divine Orbs have no natural sink (yet) to pull them out of circulation at a reasonable rate. Second, the incredible influx of people new to PoE generates a massive knowledge problem that distorts 'the market' since a lot of folks are likely not keen to what is, or is not, a great item (among many other issues related to pricing structures). Third, the friction in trading is such that buyers are willing to potentially spend more to acquire X while sellers are not inclined to sell Y (which may be a sidegrade or slight downgrade to X) for less. For instance, once you're properly into mapping and sitting on a few divines, getting a whisper for a 5 exalt item while you're in the middle of a 10 breach map is basically a waste of time- that item is going to rot in stash, sit for days (or weeks) before moving, or get disenchanted for materials. This means significantly fewer middle-tier items aren't moving in the market the way they should be, or even entering into it in the first place as its left on the ground because "why bother".

    Have they upped the drop rate on trial tokens yet? I went from 53-78 without seeing a single token. got annoyed that I couldn't even attempt my ascendency for the 5th and 6th point. that was the main thing that made me quit playing.

    While I do love PoE2, if the endgame will change to PoE1 speed, as it shows it's going in that direction, I'm out. I want campagin speed, especially act 1 and 2. I was sold on premis this game WON'T be PoE1, and it's slowly devolving into it.

    What is the problem of a good auto attack? I had a blast in the campain on my WAR. In fact in Maps my only problem rn is armor and health the defence aspect is way worst imo

    24:25 ok but have you made it into high tier maps ? i would say 5+ it starts to get crazy and at any tier the events are a risk at any level . if the maps were balanced like the campaign is i would agree with 1 portal , but curently the maps are balanced like poe1 maps things move crazy fast and can oneshot you thats just not fair with 1 portal

    It's crazy we need a New Economy reset to fix auto aiming or screen ripping or stash boxes and ui tool tips now working... We need a WHOLE reset. Just to fix consoles....wow.

    This is like my second time ever commenting on your content so I hope this doesn’t come off as toxic or elitist but if your having literally any issue sustaining waystones it’s absolutely 100% some form of user error.
    Do you have the two waystone nodes at the top of the atlas tree? Are you making sure to always run high waystone % maps on bosses? Are you reforging at the bench? I personally have been vendoring t1-10s for the last week and dumped 3 tabs full of 13-15maps into guildstash for a new friend, the game absolutely shits them out.

      Killed 5 bosses in a row with zero way stone drops the other day. Likely a bug, but yeah, waystone sustain has been pretty miserable.

      @rurikhan are you exclusively doing white or blue maps?
      maps have a ‘waystone drop chance’ figure at the top of the map. With 200% it’s guaranteed to at least drop 2 waystones from killing a map boss, and so on. You are making your maps rare yeah?

    yeah i suffer a lot about waystone sustain. untill i realise that i need to at the minimum run magic waystone with 2 mod.
    and if you really want to sustain you need to run harder rare waystone with 4-6 mod. combine with any tablet that have quantity or rarity of item. that will easily over sustain waystone for you.

      magic with 2 mods is minimum. after t6-t7 you need to make them rare. alchemy or regal. It works though, just run the best ones on boss nodes, and you will never run out.

    These developers were hardly transparent. Rarity is still badly screwed up in this game Why are people that enjoy the warrior class Getting screwed over for enjoying simple fun unga bunga they even tiptoed around reasons of why he's so bad. no one asked for this hardcore 1 life im doing fine with it but it's causing stress when this is supposed to be a fun video game. these devs don't seem to understand not every gamer is a no life.. Bs this is what turned off So many people in the end game back on poe1 because how goofy it gets the game balance just out right the same balance of path of exile one Not everyone is an omega sweat even the biggest sweats will make an oopsies once in a while it's ridiculous on how much XP you lose in end game. And the game is not balanced around one portal yet. i'm sorry, but there are better ways of making the game actually fun hard. This just feels like lazy artificial difficulty. They are just repeating the same mistakes that people did not like from path of exile one. There's a game. I can name off the top of my head. That have devs that are very nice and transparent. These guys weren't they tiptoed around a lot of things. I love path of exile, but I'm a little annoyed and not happy with this.

    you can get rarity on the map mods, towers,you only need around 50-75 on the character

      I'd rather keep my 150, it actually scales up multiplicatively with breaches, tablets and modifiers from other sources, this is why its broken. The ones that did the tests did not even use the multiplicative juices just fyi.

    Poe 2 had the worst uniques of any arpg. Also six portals is absolutely terrible there are already enough penalties for dying. You lose xp and waste time. Adding additional death penalties is terrible

    I'm playing hardcore, level 83 atm, and I have a lot of trouble sustaining maps. What I'm saying is I have literally never died on this character, have all my atlas passive dedicated to waystone sustain, and still can't do it properly.
    Probably for me It's hard to sustain because I'm not maximally juicing my maps due to the risk. It actually harms my sustain to riskily craft waystones because if I roll certain affixes it bricks the waystone without even the opportunity to drop more because I can't even run the map to begin with anymore.
    Seems like there are a lot of factors so it's hard to say for sure, but in my experience it sucks. I have never liked the idea that fighting the appropriate level mobs is a privilege and at least somewhat reliant on RNG. It's just annoying.

      my advice on this, is simply to always make them rare after t6-t7 or so, but more importantly to run the best of them (rares with high waystone chance) always on boss nodes. Boss nodes have by far the best loot for map sustain. And its not even close. If you do that you will never run out of them. Some points on the atlas tree also help.

    Hard, hard, hard disagree with one life per map. Terrible idea. This is a game, i'm not saving lives. Taking 10%xp is also cancer. Taking players' time spent playing and throwing it away is an asshole dev move IMO.

      Having some stakes makes the game more rewarding and not a braindead AFK game or clicker game like most ARPGs at high levels of play, it's really that simple.

      @@AscendantStoic 100% agree. D4 really drove this home for me. I played 4 different characters, and they may as well have all been identical, because no matter how high I set the difficulty or messed with my skills, I could pretty much kill everything by pressing 1-2 buttons.
      POE 2 has forced me to experiment with different abilities, read and understand skill interactions, pay attention to bosses- simply put, I love it. The classes feel unique, and the skill tree is everything I’ve ever wanted in any RPG. I feel engaged at every moment.
      But none of that would matter if there were no stakes and every encounter was a forgone conclusion.

      I said it before, 5% xp loss would be enough, and 1 death allowed per map would be a good middle solution too. No idea if they will ever do it though.

      Especially when ur like level 80 plus loosing 10% xp is like like loosing the 2 hours of ur life , some days u dont even make progress after playing for 4-6 hours and its irritating af

      @@kobarsos82 No xp loss is needed. You lose the map, the currency you juiced it with, the boss, breaches etc all gone.
      On top of that your last few hours of grind are disappeared. F that. It's punishing enough w/o removing xp that you earned.

    It does suck that they essentially confirmed that map blasting (one-shotting entire maps at end-game while on rollerskates) is an intended way to play late game.
    Not the game I wanted to play.
