Very informative, I appreciate that you tested how well you could resharpen it after the hard use, what did you use to resharpen it? Was it the one you mentioned early in the video? Would you recommend the knife as an edc knife for people who want to be prepared? This was the first video of yours I’ve watched and I will definitely be subscribing. Keep making these types of reviews.
Thx for commenting! This knife is very specialized for emergency use and services. I have mine in the car at the drivers seat. EDC with it is not so practical, if you like the look and feel of the knife look at the other members of the CRKT M16 family. I restored it with that inexpensive Victorinox sharpening pen. AUS8 gets dull fast but it can take a beating. I will review another M16 soon :-)
You gave this raviolis can what it deserves, as Italian I cant see my food destroyed like that. I'm thinking to buy the m16 tanto version and plain edge, it looks good and strong, or I should choose a cold steel sr1 lite tanto?. Ciao!.
Haha, good point! I really dig my SR1 lite - a great, epic knife. The MR16's are really nice too but not quite the same. I have a brand new M16-14ZSF on my desk if you are based in Italy and interested in a trade or so. The M16-14ZSF is the nicest CRKT M16 I know and a bit bigger than the one I tested in this video. The SR1 Lite - well: th-cam.com/video/erJ7mjKR4Pw/w-d-xo.html The lite makes me want to get a SR1 one day. I got my SR1 lite for less than 50 in the US. The prices in Europe are a bit depressing 😕
@@wearandtear6692 It's not mine you know 😀. So whatever you do is fine. Otherwise I shouldn't have given it to a channel called "Wear and Tear", right? 😉😂
@@NastyRenegade Haha, good reasoning. However, the CIVIVIVI is special, elegant and definitly not built for abuse. It is something elegant for more civilized times;-)
Now I know about the advantages of tanto blades. I liked this shape all along but never thought about the benefits of the geometry. From now on my Cold Steel Voyager XL Tanto looks way better ;-)! Thanks :-)!
I was thinking of buying the Voyager Large in tanto with AUS10. Must be a superb knife but right now my budget on knifes is exhausted ;-) l ll go tanto from now on without hesitation.
@@wearandtear6692 I've got the CTS BD1 version of the Voyager. It's a knive definitely made for combat purpose. Thin body (too thin in my opinion) for concealed carry, extremely strong locking mechanism, razor sharp out of factory and a heavy blade able to extend it by fast moving the hand outwards. But near the closing position there is some tension due to the backlock. This can be dangerous for one's finger who only knows ordinary folders. A friend of mine did a double cut on his finger while closing the Voyager. Not a funny thing. A nice knife but not an ordinary pocketknife. All the best :-)!
@@johnsonmonsen thank you for your insight on the Voyager ueber-knife. I wonder what kind of abuse it might take before giving in ;-) Nah, some knifes are to special I guess.
@@wearandtear6692 Let's see if this Cold Steel ist a ueber-knife ... If you are willing to pay the shipping to Austria I will send the Voyager to you for testing it till complete destruction if you want. This would be great fun for both of us and your followers. In fact I don't really need my Voyager XL because it's not my intention to join a knife fight ;-). So I can make you this gift and you can do a special video :-)! Edit: typo
nice! I like this kind of review cos it really shows how the knife performs the way it was meant to be not like others' reviews where all they do is just cut papers lol. take care man! looking forward to more of these reviews
Thank you, my test is like a fast forward in time. Although this is a rescue knife and must be able to withstand extreme stress. It must be able to go through sheat metal and do crazy things without breaking.
@@wearandtear6692 I agree you never know when an emergency situation calls for a good knife. I own plenty of knives but only a few of them would I trust to get me home. I recently baught a Gerber prodigy and this knife is tuff as they come. What's your favorite fixed blade if you don't mind me asking.
@@ernestwalden3894 Gerber Strongarm as I did more hard work with it than with any other knife. Before that I had a LMF 2 Infantry which was a bit too big and bulky for the cutting real estate it offered. The steel on the strongarm is not exactly high end but it holds up. It certainly is not the best bushcraft knife but the total package is superb - I trust it and I would prefer it over other fixed blades in case the manure hits the fan;-)
@@wearandtear6692 ha. No worries. Good content man. I've had my CRKT for a couple years and I'm glad you put it through it's paces for me. All I know is that it shreds Amazon packages quite well!
But you did not test the rope cutting notch or the glass breaker. I was watching just to see your seat belt slashed and your car windows shattered. Just kidding. I had a Benchmade triage knife that I gave to a friend who could possibly use it as intended. The knife had a rounded tip for safety when cutting close to the skin and an independent belt cutter that swiveled out from the handle. I think the blade steel was N690.
Maybe you can bring your car to Austria and we see how it works ;-) But something tells me glass breaking won't be an issue. 2 years ago I broke a car side window with my ellbow and nothing even happened to my ellbow. My insurance was very happy with me. Seat belt cutting I should have tested, good point! Benchmade triage, I need to have a look at it.
Good video! You definitely put that blade to work. I ordered the CRKT M16-14ZLEK today.
