You find some pretty cool places.. seems like there's a lot of history there :)

Thanks guys, the place has loads of history and not nice too. It's nicknamed slaughter Hall because of all the trainee pilots who died or had serious accidents.

This is my second time watching. It's a shame that this place is abandoned. All that holes in the floor were used for communications or for electrical cables?. Thumbs up.

Thanks for watching again, I'm pleased you like it. The holes in the floor were for both. There were two radio masts one each side. the cables would have been for power and sending and receiving radio communication to the incoming planes to the nearby airfield.

Yeah it was a really nice day and that rain was horrendous. I would have filmed it but my camera would have drowned 😁

All is well thanks for asking hope your keeping well too. The explore was a spur of the moment thing we were heading back from another explore elsewhere before the lock down and spotted it in the field.

Nice video rhanks for uploading. What I didn't know was how big the site was (dispersed site) with a gas cleansing station hidden in the woods, a utility building down by the Blackadder, foundations in lots of locations. And the graves of young airmen in Fogo churchyard.

Ooo I didn't know about the gas cleansing station. I might have to look that up if I get time. Yeah it is quite a big site and it's nice to see the runway still exists too

The gas cleansing bldg has the remains of the shower system inside it. You've probably seen the book, The Charterhall Story? Doesn't go into much depth about the site, but has an illegible map of the whole layout, not just the airfield

I've heard about the book but I've never read it. I might have to get a copy now and head back for more of an exploration 😊

Sorry Jay I thaught you were on about the college 😁, I think I'm getting cabin fever. The base closed in the 60s the brick building was power distribution. There was a mast either side of it. I read somewhere one was to send and one was to receive.
