  • In this video I talk about Day One and why I think it is the ultimate solution for digital journaling. I also compare this to Diarly, which is a great alternative with fewer features. By the way, I must mention that I this video was created on November 2021, I am not aware of any updates on changes on Diarly app since then because I uninstalled it and haven't used it since. Day One truly replaced it and haven't stopped using it every single day since the creation of the video. I do still have access to Diarly and could download and review it more in depth it if anyone is interested.

Amazing review. As a university student, I've been looking into a digital diary and was torn between the two. Seems like you're just getting started, but this is really high quality content. Keep it up!

Hey glad you found it useful! At some point I hope to make an updated video because I have found so much value on digital journaling, and have even used it as a way to archive and easily search or review previous physical diaries. Already got close to 1500 entries on Day One. Thanks for the words! Means, a lot, really.

    Amazing!
It helps me to decide between these two apps!
    Gracias!

Glad it could be of help! Both apps have grown and added a couple of new features since the creation of this video but the main points remain.

Just curious do you use a keyboard setup other than QWERTY? I've been looking into this lately to perhaps make typing more efficient. QWERTY is technology from like 1890 with typewriters... very old unoptimized system.

I actually had not even thought about this before so I’m still on QWERTY. What you say makes sense though, may have to look more into it.

Thx for this review. Most of the points that are important for you and made you pick Day One are really totally unimportant to me, for instance, HTML, coding, etc, and I think Diarly looks better. Imma try both and decide then

Quick question is it possible to have shortcuts for day one where we can input our moods and latest updates with time included in the text, at the end of the note (or behind the last entry text) so like this:
“Manual entry text start of day”
“Shortcut for mood with an emoji”
    “Weather data”
    “Shortcut” 15:35 went for food”
    “Manual text entry”
    “Shortcut” 18:55 going to sleep
    Something like that?

You definitely can do it. I remembered someone sharing a shortcut like this in the Facebook community (you may need to request being part of the group first for this link to work): facebook.com/1439866981/videos/10219075502705367/
This is the shortcut they shared. I suggest to go in the facebook group to read how it works because I haven't tested it, but if you play around with it you may be able to customize it to do what you want www.icloud.com/shortcuts/f8a7feeb8e6446ee88c9400693816a82
