I have to say we always enjoy your videos, but this one was exceptional! We've been to Peru three times before, but never to any of the rainbow mountains. We're an older couple and I think it would be a little too strenuous for us. Great job filming and we hope to get back there in May! We love it there. Looking forward to watching you in Bolivia!
Cheers! This one might be doable for you guys, the only up part is to the stone forest really. You don’t need to go up to that part to see the 3 rainbow mountains. Besides that it’s pretty much flat 😁👍

I live in San Diego and started watching your channel looking for places to visit in Baja. Definitely inspired to travel to Baja and beyond!
I always try to visit heavy tourist areas during times when there will be the least amount of people. It's nice just to be able enjoy these places without crowds of people. I like that you supported local arts and crafts by buying the tassled beanie. You and Carol were so nice to give some locals a free ride. Here's fact: all the trout and even salmon in South America were introduced by fishermen from Canada and the USA.

Lucky you! no tourist I went in Rainbow Mountain and there are tons of tourist. I really like the place so scenic but the altitude is tough.

No we only had that one video because it was a layover from Aruba to Brazil. Since we had more than half the day there we decided to go out and explore the historic part of bogota. We definitely will do a series there at some point, maybe the next time we come back to South America

Sunshine really makes a difference to the colors of the rainbow mountains, on a grey overcast day it can look pretty drab unfortunately.
Trout is a sweetwater fish typically found in streams, I had excellent fresh local trout grilled with passion fruit sauce in Monte Verde/MG (not indigenous to that region but introduced)
Yes there were moments where the clouds passed and you couldn’t really see the colors anymore, definitely need the sun hitting
Chris, your outtro said it perfectly and we felt the exact same way when we came to Peru! It's one of the best places we've been to and so much more to see.... we will definitely be back too!

Hi Chris and Carol, we enjoy your videos very much, love your laid-back style. We were in Peru in 2022 and visited Palcoyo Rainbow Mountain. Before travelling, we did some research and decided against Vinicunca, the more popular mountain. That fact that we made the right decision was confirmed when some guides from other tours we'd been on suggested Palcoyo would be a better option.

It sounds like you made a great choice by visiting Palcoyo instead of Vinicunca. Vinicunca is very challenging to hike, and it took me almost 2 hours to cover just 6 km! Thank you for sharing your experience of exploring the less crowded places in Peru. I hope you get to return to this amazing country soon! Have a wonderful time in Bolivia, both of you.

I am glad you liked Peru. I lived in Peru for 18 years, working with indigenous languages in the jungle. I was fortunate to travel to all parts of Peru through the years, even slept in the ruins at Muchu Picchu in sleeping bags during the late 60s, but I never saw the rainbow mountains, since, as you told us, they were covered in snow. By the way, the trout in the mountains come from fish farms. They are not very tasty because of the stuff they are fed, but they are a source of protein for the people.
Absolutely stunning video! I'm glad you didn't go to the other, touristy Rainbow Mountain as there was a bus crash recently and several tourists were killed😱 When I read this in the news I immediately checked because was worried about you guys, but you were still in Lima at that time. Phew!
You should have traveled down to the amazing Lake Titicaca area to explore a totally different aspect of Peru...Bolivia is just on the other side of the Lake! Enjoy Bolivia, dress up warmly...that flappy ear hat will definitely come in handy!! Can't wait to see your next video...

Oh, cool. When you go back check Lake Titicaca, from Puno goto some of the islands. It is truly amazing. Also, you can visit Island of the Sun and Island of the Moon from Bolivia. Arequipa and Nazca are worth it as swell. Up north the coast and Chavin de huantar site and Kuelap site are spectacular. Don't forget the jungle, try Manu reserve. Enjoy Bolivia!
Peru is so underrated the north part of Peru is also beautiful from the mancora , trujillo , chachapoyas ,tarapoto and the Amazon

The Rainbow Mountains are beautiful
After watching your videos of Peru I want to go back. We did go to Lake Titicaca though and it was amazing. Colca canyon looks great as well. Paracas is near the Oasis town and you can go to Islands similar to the Galapagos, Can't wait for Bolivia videos.
