Sorry, have to disagree with this one: if I were Shirley I'd try everything to get Chang out of my baby's life asap. They're not being mean, they're being responsible towards their unborn child. Of course you are protective even when it's not been born yet. This dude just kidnapped two kids and blamed an innocent guy and have him locked up, not even mentioning he has shown lots of craziness and tbh symptoms of whatever mental illness(es). No way I'd let that guy near my baby. I can damn near guarantee the kid's not gonna have a safe upbringing with Chang having parental rights. That doesn't mean he'll never see his kid; just that he doesn't have parental rights, and rightfully so. Best to get him out of the way as soon as you can, makes everything easier than when the baby is already born. He's a grown a$s man acting like this, not a kid, which makes it even scarier.

note that while pierce IS racist(and sexist and homophobic) he's making an honest effort to better himself. in his case it's a cultural artifact from his horrible upbringing, and not really out of malice. to me he will always represent social progress. slow and gradual. also i think they are way too harsh on chang.
