The problem is not just that a justice thinks he doesn't make enough money if he can't afford the lifestyle of a billionaire, but that his colleagues in the private sector make obscene amounts of money for what they do.

While there is no solution to the problem at the moment, we could legislate rules by which the Supreme Court may judge one of its own members for wrongdoing. For example, a tribunal could be randomly selected from the eight justices who are not under any suspicion. Of course, this solution only works to the extent that only one justice is involved in a crime. It seems like justices have been taking advantage of their power, so if justices conspire or all benefit from corruption, it might not work. This isn't much different from allowing a legislative body from kicking out a member (like the House of Representatives just did with George Santos).
This is what happens when you judge people based on the color of their skin instead of the content of their character. Thank God Affirmative Action is gone, finally.

Every one of the SC justices should be deposed on whether they have accepted any un disclosed payments, favors, “gifts”. If they have they should then have two options 1. I cannot say anything about the quality of his writing, but I find it extremely unlikely that he would be taken on by a big law firm, which would enable him to make more money than he does now. There's no way THAT position or any position should be a lifetime, unless there was a "never fire" all over the country-- four or eight or twelve years sounds about right.

Presidents can serve eight years. We might end up with a court majority all appointed by the sitting president. It would have to be at least 20 year terms. At least.
The Federal Board of Reserve uses a 14 year appointment. and no return to the Board at the end of the appointment. Terms expire every other year, so a new member joins each 2 years. Provides stability, new blood so a different side of the aisle has a chance at appointing their choice, and the term limit keeps the corruption at bay.
edit: plus, income or perceived lack of will not be an issue decade after decade after decade of decision making.

Crime stoppers might investigate if enough people called in tips. I will never understand how the IRS never seems to relate unclaimed income and gifts a judge receives for their opinions. Bribes are a legitimate business expense but they need to be itemized so recipient can assume the tax burden.

We've been so focused on 'ethical rules for justices' and how/if they can be enforced, and impeachment for judges, and term limits, etc. And it seems the supreme court is above all of that. But isn't there some point at which a public official taking bribes becomes a criminal matter? Maybe we should be looking at the possibility of him being arrested and charged?

I'm a flaming liberal, however, these salaries seem low. Someone should review this issue and make the necessary adjustments as necessary.
While there is no solution to the problem at the moment, we could legislate rules by which the Supreme Court may judge one of its own members for wrongdoing. For example, a tribunal could be randomly selected from the eight justices who are not under any suspicion. Of course, this solution only works to the extent that only one justice is involved in a crime. It seems like justices have been taking advantage of their power, so if justices conspire or all benefit from corruption, it might not work. This isn't much different from allowing a legislative body from kicking out a member (like the House of Representatives just did with George Santos).
A tribunal of justices would work ONLY if the others were clean of corruption. Currently, only Jackson has been cleared of any taint of corruption.
