Green Man I believe that he is generally recognized for his bass playin wizardry but the most important and best talent he has is not really his proficiency but rather his timing. He is able to play perfectly on the backside of the beat which elicits the intoxicating funky feeling that causes one to move their body to the beat!
That was really fantastic. Besides the fact that your playing is stellar, I want to thank you for putting the tabs up while you played. It made it easier for me to understand & follow. Bravo!! Thanks again for a great video!!!!
I love Rage against.. they are just so awesome. I remember this coming out and I was so excited when first bought their album. How relevant this song is still today!😁
it's because you have a good time when you are listening to the song, and you are focused on that, so you lose track of time. that's why it seems short even though the song is 5 minutes long
Ye what I like about this Chanel compared to tab books is the play along line so I know exactly what time to play a boy instead of someone writing out a tab for u and u have to guess lol
This was one of the first whole songs I ever learned and it's really cool to hear it. Forest Fire by Dead Kennedys is pretty nice too, I'd love to see it!
Wow 10 years ago.... been watching you for a while, but this is the first time I saw that video. Thanks for all the inspiration! Please keep up the good work. 💪
Best tutorial on "Killing in the name" I found so far. I have a 5 string but playing the lower D on the first string sounds odd. The trick with E string down to D made the trick. Now it sounds so awesome! Thanks man!
Sildrev You don't know much about the English language, do you? Either way, assuming you're responding to the guy that typed a series of 1's and 0's, he's pretty much dead on. If you need your hand held on a song like that, maybe bass isn't for you. But, kids these days and all that. If it takes any effort at all on your part, it's just not worth it. Sound about right?
Thank you again, gee this song has great groove, and even the 3rd bit the basic groove is just so on it, once I got my fingers worked out, just had to feel the pulse, very particular for this song.
I just discovered you and you have play along tabs in almost all your videos thats awesome cause besides paying money sonsterr you cannot slow down videos to learn myself and I thank you alot you prob saved me 10 bucks a month.
Today I learned something new. I was comparing my way of playing this to yours and I saw the way you occasionally mute the open (drop) D string with your thumb. I'll have to incorporate that in my bag of tricks. Such an obvious thing that I've overlooked all these years. Thank you. c:
I've always found this song so groovy. I hold it in a similar regard to "give the mule what he wants" by Queens of the stone age. Maybe you could try that song?
I would say that at that point in the song just do whatever’s necessary. If you wanna use that three finger plucking thing from the toys go winding down then do that.
It’s hard to get used to the timing but once you get it damn is it sick. Best way to get the timing is to not look st the instrument. Even if you mess up the notes you’ll get it as a feel more
crazy cool...got a stingray bass for christmas just to goof around with...i play guitar ...totally unexpected i havent put it down and my guitars are gettin jelly...love the way you show the tabs...if im stuck i pause it...sounds great and alot of fun...hope your still doing new song requests because i will have some...hope you like suicidal tendencies
I might be wrong but as I hear it the part from 0:13 to 0:45 aren't triplets but 16th notes. They are played in that rhythm 1001 0010 1001 0010. When you play alone you play triplets but when the other instruments start you play that 16th note rhythm as well. Or am I mistaken here? Edit: The hits starting at 0:37 are triplets
Thanks for posting this! It seems the tabs got taken down from the website I use and I’m trying to do a deathcore cover. So having baseline(pun intended) to start from helps!
How is it a waste of time or energy? It takes about 2 minutes to learn to read tab. I understand there are benefits to learning standard notation, but they're just that. They don't subtract from the usefulness of tab.
Josh Starkey ok, point taken...i guess my main gripe is when a brand new aspiring guitarist learns it not knowing that just learning traditional notation will be better in the long run. And again it's quicker and easier but very limited and specific to one main type of stringed instrument. However if you study the history of music notation there were numerous other methods of music notation that didn't stick due to limitations of interpretation, dynamics, etc...and being a lifetime student and teacher of music I am exhausted from having to go back and correct problems due to this form of music notation that would not have exsisted if traditional notation would have been learned in the beginning. And how many people are going to learn traditional notation when this form is proficiently mastered...only to find that learning traditional notation would have been better from the get go...just my experience. And for the proficient instrumentalist TAB does suffice to quickly learn a song or riff. Not trying to be so one sided but rather on a rant that night from a long day of students asking me why, just why bc of their own realization didn't they just learn (or rather get taught) traditional notation. Long live musical theory and debate!! TO EACH THEIR OWN!
mostly because music isnt taught in a lot of schools anymore, budget cuts and blah blah. Im 35 and cant read music, i wish i could but i cant. Idont have the time to study it now either, i just play the bass for fun. Thats where this very handy simple to learn tab comes in with its play along bars.... ideal for the uneducated like myself

Matt Calm Daddy Mauldingo he’s like the dimebag of bass lol
why every bass players are under rated? that' s not true

just played along for my first bass attempt in a few decades... awesome! great to have that rolling tab. genius.
The real skill on display here is that you can play any of these basslines without getting your whole body into it.
every time i play this song it feels waaaaaaay shorter then 5 minutes
