    I like the way he reads safties but a lot of times yea he likes what he see's by where the safety moves and just pulls the trigger even if the receiver doesnt win and he plays too fast at times, thats also cause in college had a bad line, still wasn't playing with a good line so i think that clock in his head is sped up on shorter routes, just needa fix those habits and he'll be great, still love his tape

    The deep nod post at 23:00 the replay on the night showed the WR actually had the ball in his arms, he made the catch, went to secure the ball, just lost control of it when he hit the deck. A great throw and catch, just needed to be finished off.

  • @PowerSpreadXO
    @PowerSpreadXO 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    I think the Zone read qb keep for a TD was reading the playside DE. The TE laid a little block on that guy but was looking 2nd level and had that DE stayed wide for a QB Keep then the TE was going to be at the 2nd level blocking quickly and Maye would have handed it off to the RB. Because that DE crashed down (along with the 2nd level guys) it was an easy read.
    Eveyone's down on the Pats right now cause they are sticking with the Patriot Way - but I'm not sure this is going to be the debacle everyone else thinks. Growing pains? Sure. Debacle? Not sure.
    Their O Coaching Staff is McCarthy guys w/ a bunch of Power Spread influences as well. I'd call this the new and improved PSPW - Power Spread Patriot Way. Ha!
    I saw a bunch of WCO obviously - and that quick pass game of the old Brady O - but love seeing the Read Option with Maye near the goaline. He's more athletic than people realize - he's a much better pick, imo, than MJones. Jones and that whole Bama Offense of 2020 was a huge product of Sarkisian Offensive Expertise and Saban Culture and Talent. Never thought much of him. Maye has a chance to be a good one imo.
    Also, I know Mayo is inexperienced - that's scary - but from a lot of accounts he's a smart guy that gets culture and obviously the Pat Way. They definitely are the last place pick in a tough division. But I'm not ready to write this team off yet. A super underrated storyline of NFL 2024 and I think I may put out an article on my website about it...

  • @PowerSpreadXO
    @PowerSpreadXO 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    As always, love JTs O breakdown - routes/scheme - all of it - and especially his QB expertise. Agree 100% about Maye - a lot to like AND not like. It's early, but could see struggles on the way early on in the year, but the potential is somewhat exciting.
    His Air Raid background is a little tough for this WCO scheme, but there's a lot of AR and PS influences + concepts in the League now (and has been for a while), plus this is a good O Coaching Staff. I trust them.
    The thing that really bothers me is some of the footwork (JT pointed out). Will this be cleaned up? Will we have to wait until next year? Tua made changes in his footwork - took some time.
    I like seeing the ball out of his hands fast on these few plays and his attempt at pre-reads that I think he will get eventually. But his post snap reads are weak - from this sample. Which, again, he's not just going to the "space" now - like AR - now it's a lot of timing w/ read progressions. Again, speculation - I think he's going to get this. He's built like and has the tools for a Pro QB - but there's a ways to go yet.
    One thing I will say to his credit - this Oline was using a lot of backups. NE's Oline has a chance to be better than it's been in the last couple of years. And there's some depth. Obviously better Oline play would be a big help in what's going to be a Pro PS Offense.
    Lastly - FANGIO... crazy stuff in Philly Land... demote Desai mid-yr - when he really wasn't the issue, at least on the field - throw in Patricia (ugh-I will leave that one alone) - now get Desai's mentor Fangio... ok.... so Sirianni and Roseman like this type of D Scheme - mixed match coverages w/ zone blitz pressure mix. I guess they are heading to the Master, while other teams have gone the Ravens Way due to Pees/Wink/Minter/Macdonald's successes.. and long time history of Rex Ryan (Danton Lynn amongst many others).
    So what I saw here was a lot of watered down 6Match (cover 6 assignment match coverage based on pattern distribution) coverage. More than once Maye had issues reading this coverage. The last play was explained perfectly by JT. Maye doesn't seem to understand this coverage - OR - just not confident real time. Yes - the safety to the qtrs side of the C6 is coming down and matching underneath - the In Route will open. Anticipation. Riskier - but this is the NFL - the good QBs hit that spot. Again, early - I think Maye will get there. He certainly saw C6 in college. Hell, it was in college way before NFL. But of course the NFL executes to a higher level in general.
    Speaking of which - Fangio does a great job teaching the technique - these guys showed a different look then slid into the 6match really late - right before the snap. That is something Maye probably didn't see coming. Venables did a good job at that, but many college teams show their hands early.
    blab blab blab - im done ... love the stuff you do JT!

    • @futur3ndings651
      @futur3ndings651 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CoryD_85 I don't think the center really did a terrible job. The more pressing issue is the receiver's getting separation and routing better to get a better angle on the ball catching. Maye needs to slow it down at times too on plays that take a little time to develop, but that could be an issue with the staff setting up plays with odd formations as mentioned in the video. Had it not been for screwups from the Eagles side half the plays spoken about would've been blown up.

    That first throw to Baker over the middle is my favorite (successful) play of the game. So smooth.
    I'm still trying to figure out why he sailed the ball to Boutte on the sideline; I couldn't quite see any obvious mechanical issues. Maybe he just rushed it a bit.
    The high pass on the hitch is interesting, because Drake appears to hesitate slightly and I wonder if he was deciding whether or not Baker was open or if Baker did run the wrong route and he was adjusting on the fly and missed high.
    If I were to guess, that touchdown run might not have been option; it might have been a play designed for him to just take it. Or maybe he was reading #58.
    Also a note: snaps have been rough in camp when not coming from David Andrews. I'd really like to see Drake get more chances with the starters. He did get some starting offensive linemen on Thursday night because the line is already bad as it is, let alone with backups.

    He just looks like he's not going through all of his progressions enough but when he does you notice the difference, needs more patience/confidence in the oline, definitely has the arm and can make the throw ,wrs quality might be a factor post brady and gronk era having to adjust to a real offense again but he's got to go through more of his reads not just the 1st and 2nd ,set his feet for better accuracy he'll be fine ,good one coach

    Definitely a bit of a stretch but on the read option around the 14:47 mark, my best guess is he’s supposed to read the E gap and recognized 2 things; no one was out there and they were in man coverage. If you watch the ball position in his hands he keeps it up like he’s going to pass knowing the DB is in man and might get fooled by that and look in for the TE to slip out into a route.

    • @jamesbohne6790

    7:44 It seemed to me that in both our games with all the QBs they just go to whoever the target is that is named in the huddle instead of looking for the open man because they didn't want them holding the ball too long because they don't trust the O line

    Talented, but not ready at all. Decides where to throw early. I suspect does not really know what the D is doing so he pre-decides where to go. The regular season defenses will destroy him if this does not change. Pats would be smart to take it slowly. Super slow.

    How is the bar so low for the #3 overall pick? Williams is scheduled to start and do well. Daniels is scheduled to start and do well. But Drake complete 6/11 for 47 yards, 15 yard rushing with a TD and he's ready to start in the NFL, HELL HE'S NOT BETTER THAN MILTON, SMDH

      Your just looking at the stats dude, and he had a 50 yard dime that was dropped, a 30 yard dime dropped and a 10 yard dropped. If those perfects throws were caught it would of made him 9 for 11 with another 90 yards. His other 2 incompletions were throw aways to avoid sacks.

    JT, I’m sorry, but I can’t watch your videos anymore. You have ear piercing audio issues in every single one of your videos. Listen from 0:46-0:50 in this video with headphones on, you’ll hear it. I’ve commented about this for a whole year at this point and you just ignore it. I wish you the best.

      it is crazy frustrating. no one is more pissed and tired of it than me. I'm at my wits end with it. the best i can figure is it something that is happening when i render the videos. I don't really have any options right now besides reinstalling resolve. I guess i could switch editing software. it's crazy cause the noises are not on the original audio tracks. they only show up in the rendered versions and i'm not listening to every video before i publish them. I'm open to ideas. Also, i've read and i think responded to your comments before.
