Aw. Mint, it's okay that you feel overwhelmed sometimes. Or often. What's important is to savor those moments where you're whelmed.

Loving this long-form content. I feel that since vtubing is a visual medium it tends to revolve around either high-intensity content or shorter clips and segments so it's honestly refreshing to get to hear the two of you delve into longer discussions without simultaneously focusing on gameplay or having a live chat to interact with.

One thing people get wrong about shy or introverted behavior is that they see it as a lack of desire or ability. The best way to look at it is like procrastination because it uses the same overall system. When someone chooses to do something there are 2 things at play. The desire to do it and anxiety over the choice. For those that are seen as shy, introverted, lazy or procrastinators they have more anxiety than desire. They are often fairly anxious or scared people. However, once you remove that barrier they are just as energetic, if not more so, than any other person.
And so its not that they lack desire but rather extroverts, in many ways, lack barriers.

    • @badart3204
      @badart3204 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +25

In the classical definition of introversion it just means that talking to people tires you out and has no connection to shyness. You can go out and be the life of the party with 0 shyness and still be an introvert that needs a day off afterwards. It exists on a spectrum and isn’t static. Shyness has more to do with anxiety and barriers but is a separate issue.

    • @dlanbatal
      @dlanbatal 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

@@badart3204 The two are linked transitively, as having more shyness leads to being more drained by social interaction. But its not a bi-directional link (you can be drained from social interaction with no shyness in play)

I feel like streaming as an industry tends towards novelty over deep meaning. That can be great for some things, but I do appreciate moments where vtubers dig down into their own psychology or a particular subject matter very deeply, so the personality test stuff was extremely engaging to do my dishes to.

This kind of back and forth between the hosts about life and their experiences and perspectives and the different ways you can be a person is what I like most about podcasts. Digging in deep into Mint’s personality test was awesome, and I think that Matara did a great job being a sounding board and encouraging Mint to explain why she feels a particular way about a question. Thank y’all for running with this idea, I love this episode! When I took a similar test years ago, I learned I’m an INFP, which some lists say is like Madoka!

Sorry, Amanai. I'm not even angry over you right now. I bear no grudge against anyone. It's just that the world feels so, so wonderful right now. Throughout Heaven and Earth, I alone am the honored one. The merit of having a technique that's passed down for generations is having a user's manual. The demerit is that information about the technique is easily leaked. You were a member of the Zen'in clan, weren't you? That's why you know so much about the Limitless technique. However, even in the Gojo clan, only a scant few know about this. Take the amplified and the reversal, then smash together those two different expressions of infinity to create and push out imaginary mass. Imaginary Technique: Purple.

This was a very fun and interesting podcast episode, and it was nice to follow along with Mint's thought process as she answered the questions on the personality quiz. I think Mint, on the surface, can come across as just a silly and energetic person who's into otaku culture, when in reality she is a very hard worker and has the drive and discipline to lay out a plan and pursue her dreams despite her struggles (which reminds us that VTubers are human too, just like the rest of us). Despite that drive for success, she doesn't forget to be an understanding and compassionate individual, and is making her own effort to overcome her limitations in order to spread positivity in a world that can use so much more of it.
"Quiet visionary, inspiring and tireless idealist." I am indeed inspired, as many others are, with this ghost maid's drive and passion for doing what she loves, and that is why she is my kamioshi 👻✨

Cognitive function meta-analysis of Mint’s 16 Personalities test results:
**This is in no way meant to invalidate any results, but to proved a different approach to the podcasts episode; “Get to know Mint**
For those who don’t know, the 16 personalities test doesn’t actually test your MBTI, but it tests your personality in a test called “the big 5” and applies it to MBTI. While there is small correlation between a big 5 result and an MBTI type, we all know the classic saying of correlation and causation. What MBTI actually uses to classify people are systems called cognitive functions. These functions appear in people in different orders of use preference. There are 8 functions total, and each person uses 4 as a basis of their personality.
According to Mints results, and I’ll leave it to her to decide if this is accurate to herself or not, her main functions in order (with shorthand) are Introverted intuition (Ni), extroverted feeling (Fe), introverted thinking (Ti) and extroverted sensing (Se). These are defined as follows
Ni: a way of perceiving the world in which many different things seem to converge into the future into a synthesized point. People with this function first thrive in these futures and it is hard to pull them into the present. They are wont to prepare, at least mentally, for what’s next and are often correct in predictions.
Fe: a way of decision making that values the emotional landscape of a “tribe.” This tribe can vary as people belong to multiple groups and communities like coworkers, friends, family, etc. types that favor this function make decisions with the goal of bringing harmony to these communities.
Ti: a way of making decisions that values internal sense and logic to guide an individual. As the 3rd function in Mint’s stack, this function would be something to practice and grow typically in teens and early twenties. It would mean that logical thinking may take some conscious effort, but feel rewarding and important to her. Third-tier functions are often a place of fun or comfort for types when they’re older, so puzzle games or tech may be a hobby.
Se: this is the last of the 4 main functions for mint, so it should be the area that causes the most anxiety. Se anxiety in particular shows as a lack of confidence of the present moment and fear of the unpredictable nature of the world. Just like Ni, this function is also a way of perceiving the world, and so being at the bottom of the stack, it’s very hard for INFJs to see the world without any sort of “future” filter so to speak.
Just from watching the podcast and listening to Mints reactions to a lot of the questions, I think I see some inconsistencies in the results and what she was saying. Again, it is up to Mint herself to be the judge, but as an MBTI hobbyist and a Mint fan, I’m taking this one opportunity of mint talking about her own self and experiences to see if I can find a type of best fit.
The first thing I noticed is Mints relationship with planning and preparedness. On most questions asking about it, she would express that she needs to plan and prepare. There were a number of implications that without setting these things up, she wouldn’t get anything done, and that is far more nuanced than what the question can actually account for. On the 16 personalities test, agreeing to these questions nets you “J” points, but they almost have it backwards. It’s people who struggle with their own mental focus and staying on track that need to make lists, fill calendars, etc the most. Most specifically, the function that relates most to the organization and efficiency of tasks is extroverted thinking (Te). Mint seems to have an interesting relationship in that she makes herself do these things. She seems to imply, though, that it’s her nature not to. It’s her nature to procrastinate and to act in spurts (i.e: cleaning part of her desk, randomly moving to something else, then going back to finishing the desk). As I mentioned in my INFJ breakdown, your third function is one that you grow in adolescence and your 4th function is a cause for anxiety or stress in your life. I would posit that the Te function is either in Mint’s 3rd or 4th position. She does it, but it doesn’t come naturally.
In Carl Jung’s theory, everything comes in an equal and opposite balance. If Te is in her 3rd or 4th position, that would mean that the exact opposite decision making function would be in her 1st or 2nd position as a favored use. The opposite of thinking is feeling and the opposite of extroversion is introversion, so it would be introverted feeling (Fi) taking the place of her main decision making function. This function is defined by its user referencing their own feelings, wants, and needs to make decisions. When I say feeling, this does include emotions, but also can be a gut sense of what they should or shouldn’t do. If, for example, someone had a steady job, but quit to return to school all because it felt like that’s what they now wanted at the time, that would be a great display of Fi decision making. Fi users also have the hardest time making connections of all the types. They often need an authentic connection to someone and with no shared interests, can struggle to form deep bonds. The only types that use Fi as a strength and Te as something to grow are the xxFP types.
As mint was taking the test, she reported a lot of use of intuition, but interestingly, a lot of the 16 personalities questions regarding intuition largely center around Extroverted intuition (Ne). This function seems to be an obvious strength to Mint. It focuses on making connections between ideas. As a perceiving function, people who use this as a strength are incredibly good at seeing something and connecting it to something else that exists. People who see this world in this way are perceived by other types as being out of left field, goofy, or at its worst just crazy. People who use this and also lead with Fi decision making are also frequently fans of the underdog or underrated. An underground idol scene is a perfect example. All of this now would point me to think of Mint being an xNFP type.
Now it’s time to check if Mint is an E or an I. It’s important to note that extroversion and introversion in MBTI are very different from social extroversion and introversion. What it will determine here is if her strongest function is Introverted Feeling or Extroverted intuition. Honestly, at this point there’s not enough info from her quiz and past experiences for an outsider to observe, and there’s a decent case for both. While Mont reported high levels of introversion, she reported that her thinking and feeling are close to being used the same amount. If that were to be true, that would mean her thinking and feeling must be in positions 2 and 3, but that would make her an Extrovert. What I would ask Mint is what she feels most anxious about. Remember that the 4th function is a cause for anxiety and it is hardest to develop. Also remember that every function needs an opposite. With Assigning her extroverted intuition (Ne), we also have to assign her introverted sensing (Si) somewhere, a function we have yet to discuss. Si is the realm of perceiving things as they relate to your own sensibility, past, and experiences. So now I leave it to Mint. If xNFP feels accurate, which of the two choices feels more accurate?
INFP - a great sense of nostalgia. More habitual in behavior. A strong sense of stress and fear regarding organization of your life, more of a thinker than a doer. Mentally drained by reacting to the present moment; Needs time to take it in.
ENFP - while still draining, okay with getting things done, and it’s easy to do it for projects and plans you are excited for. More forgetful, not checking in with yourself as much as you should, and a tendency to impulsiveness. Comfortable being reactive to the world around you.
Or maybe INFJ was a great fit after all!

Was fun learning about Mint today! I'm an INFP-T, so watching Evangelion was a bit of a trip. I hated how relatable Shinji felt, knowing how much other people seem to HATE him. Thanks for the fun podcast you two!

Okay obligatory buzzkill that personality types are pseudoscience i.e. not real. Made for a fun episode though! I related to Mint a lot.

VOD gang here one week late! I interpreted 47:07 a little differently from either of you - I felt like it meant that for personal projects, you prioritize doing things that are realistic over things that you're emotionally attached to, that are difficult or "inefficient" to do. So for instance, if you were organizing a music video, and there was a part you really wanted to include that would be difficult to put together, would you be more pragmatic about it or would you go the extra mile to include the emotional aspects you want, even if it's inefficient?

My reaction going through Mint's personality test was EXACTLY as Matara described it herself lol
The answers matched up like 90% of the time to the point it became sooooo freaky...
Like, it's really quite weird and almost scary how much we, as their longtime fans, actually know their personalities when, in reality, we don't even know these two irl or even have had any kind of conversation where we sit down to talk properly about each ones interests/likes and dislikes.
So yeah, loved this episode, BIG agree!
Would watch like 10 more episodes just with personality tests if they were as interesting as this one was.

Long long ago when I did the personality quiz I had the same as Matara, then when I took it during this pod to see if the decades of life changed how I respond to the questions... I got the same result as Mint. I'm a Vaporeon now..?

I didn't count each and every name, but using the "skip 5 seconds" button on youtube, there were about 42 rows (126 names) per 5 seconds, and the name scroll lasted just over 50 seconds, or about 1260 named patrons.
Names are _only_ the $10 and up tier, so not even counting the $5 tier, nor the extra $15 from the $25 tier, that's $12,600 a month.
Mint, you were worried this wouldn't be successful lol.

Thanks for the episode, I really enjoyed learning what goes on inside that big, beautiful brain of Mint's (hopefully you don't feel too exposed), and didn't mind the video length at all. I _really_ didn't need the Vaporeon copypasta reference though lol.

As per Matara's request, I'm an ISTJ (results from a test I took years ago). According to the same site Mint used to take the test, my personality type is shared by Neddard Stark from Game of Thrones and Founding Father George Washington.
Anime-wise, the ISTJ characters are Mikasa Ackerman from Attack on Titan, Rei Ayanami from Evangelion and Neji Hyuuga from Naruto. Pretty much every other character either wears glasses, or has a stick up their backside and is a stoic stickler for the details.
    Accurate all in all.
