Maybe not the best strategy for anxiety, but when I need to push myself outside of my comfort zone, I can sometimes force a adrenaline rush to throw myself into taking that critical first step, and once I'm moving I can't stop. Kind of like telling yourself "Screw it, make dangerous love: baby time."
This was one of my favorite episodes in recent memory! (granted I've held off on watching the Metal Gear episode due to potential spoilers) You ladies brought up a really good point around 1:17:00 for people who struggle with what others may think of them. Essentially the fact that random people are too preoccupied with their own lives to remember that little embarassing thing they saw you do 8 years ago. I mean this in a good way: you're not Life's main character (narcissists in shambles). People have a million other things to think about on a daily basis that aren't you, and they'll still have those things to think about after you come into their lives for a grand total of 30 seconds to sneeze really loud, or whatever. Even if they do think about you, it's unlikely their opinion is going to have any real impact on what you can and can't do, so don't concern yourself with it too much. 1:22:26 I don't want to get into this too much because it's an iceberg of a topic for me, and I'll be here all day, but I'm a polar introvert, and wouldn't be surprised at all if I have clinical social anxiety. I only do social things if I have to, and I've structured my life to make this manageable as much as I can. I'm lucky that I have a job where I largely work alone with little-to-no supervision, and people trust that I'm responsible enough to do so. The limited interaction makes it easier to bring my A-game when I _do_ have to interact. It's a fairly normie-filled space, and the fact that my job is busy and I'm constantly moving around means people don't get an opportunity to see me run out of conversation topics for small talk (not a fan of small talk, but it's necessary). Trying to keep convos focused on the other person (showing interest in them) helps as well. Overall, I try to make a great first impression, and then never give people a chance to witness impression #2 and the awkwardness that is sure to come with it lol (And if the first impression isn't the best, I don't have to worry, because people see the quality of my work and seem to think it's quite good). I just keep things professional, and put tactical espionage into action in order to acquire the resources necessary to make dangerous love.
I've been really going through it this summer, and tuning in for the pod fills me with positive baby time energy. Thank you both for doing this and letting us come along for the ride. With every week that goes by it feels strange (in a good way!) to look back and see what's happened. These past several months have been extremely fun with you and everyone else here. I have to second Mint about theme parks. I was able to go with family to Disney World years ago, and I have to say that I could also spend the whole time just wandering around and seeing the set pieces. They put an enormous amount of work into setting and decorations, and it's a lot of fun (for me at least), to see all the little details that they get in. I would honestly say that a good piece of advice is to walk into any of the little shops and just tilt your head up to see what they've done with the space above the shelves and normal sight-line.

I’ve lost some social anxiety as I’ve gotten older, but I still have problems starting something or talking to new people. On the flip side though, if someone comes up and starts talking or invites me somewhere, I have no major issues since I don’t want to come off mean or weird.
I'm gonna miss this so much, listening to you two go at each other while working has been the best thing this whole summer ngl... And honestly with the anxiety talk i think mom is right about it being a matter of getting used to it, i trained my anxiety away by explicitly exposing myself and learning to get used to it, along with some other practices. Even so tho, no matter how used you get sometimes you just have baby time when it all becomes a lot you just wanna cry, self improvement is a dangerous love lol But thank you for another great pod!!! I agree that 'anxiety' is like a muscle where you work it out then you'll get better at it, but for me it's really hard to just do the initially work out. I cannot physically force myself to do that 'first run' to work out the anxiety muscle. It's like my legs are too weak and just taking that first step about to run my legs shatter. Like Mint said though, if I'm in my element or with someone I can trust, then I let the baby time out.
Now I want to say “male dangerous love baby time” just to weird people out. 😂 Anyway, I’m sort of like Mint in that I get anxious about embarrassing things I did from any point in my life. But I was watching Bluey with the little ones in my family (that show really is as good as everyone hypes it up to be) and the episode Stickbird had a pretty good method for dealing with bad feelings. Look it up. It actually does help me when an embarrassing memory makes me want to smash my head in.
People say I'm an extrovert but I actually am not. Only my closest friends know that because they have known me for so long. I usually avoid the contact until it has to be but when the contact is there I just go full play extrovert mode. The moment I leave these fields is the moment I just switch back. It's basically methodacting what I think an extrovert is.

Mint’s friends sound like those girl friends from Daily Lives of High School Boys. They seem crazy and erratic and Mint usually plays the straight man but Mint is actually the true crazy one out of them all and her friends only act that way so she doesn’t feel too bad herself.

Like every Vtuber went to Japan this year for working vacations. This was a wild year.
