The pencil thing is actually not as farfetched as you think. The movie just goes about it the wrong way: Pencil lead is actually graphite which is a good conductor of electricity and can actually glow pretty brightly when a current runs through it. I recommend watching ElectroBoom's video on graphite if you wanna know more.
Nostalgia Critic didn't show, what I felt was, the most unforgivable "prank." A small group of monsters went into a baby's room and scared him. Not just once... but they kept going and going while the baby cried in terror. The monsters thought it was funny. It makes me sick just thinking about that scene.
Yeah, When you say it like this, it does sound fucked up, 🤔
@@MynameisCharliehonestly that scene was so unnecessary they just wanted to bring in new conflict so they csn finally show the whole boy and snik stuff which has been poorly introduced
The baby scene threw away Maurice’s touching moment with Brian and made him an asshole again. Sometimes people just want to be sad and comforted they don’t need a distraction to feel better
Also the ending was unnecessary as well. Brian has his reasons to not come back to the monster world but there’s nothing saying Maurice couldn’t hang in Brian’s room till the sun came up. He did it a lot so making it seem they will never see each other again or for a long time doesn’t make sense. If the lesson is growing up then does a bad job. You don’t need to leave all childish things behind forever.
This movie is good but there some plot holes and miscontinuity. They did have delay issues after some stuff caught on fire and went bankrupt so the movie was only seen in around 100 some theatres in the us so it does get a bad rap I wish it was one of those movies who had a cult following where it’s more popular in the present time than it was when it was made
One thing contradicting that though is some of these jokes probably won’t fly today. Howie Mandel said he would probably be cancelled if the movie was made today

I watched this when I was like 5 yrs old and loved it for some reason.
the moral of this movie is: Everytime your about to watch a 80s family movie, dont expect it to be any cute or actually good
